The Marvel Cinematic Universe is pretty much the biggest thing to ever hit cinemas, but it started innocently enough back in 2008 with Iron Man, the Jon Favreau-directed, Robert Downey Jr.-led superhero flick that's... well... pretty damn good, actually. Indeed, it only grossed half a billion dollars at the box office, pretty mild results for what would follow! The film may be missing a villain, but it comes packing a whole lot more: A complex, human, and deeply-flawed protagonist, a fun world, awesome technology, and lots of humor. Iron Man is a charming film that's more than a worthy watch, and we're thrilled to jump in as we begin our exploration of the MCU.

There's nothing better then movie discussions longer then the actual movies.. (and this is a good thing, but still my sarcastic humor) Good to see you enjoyed it.

olympic skateboarding events should have been broadcast with a fish-eye lens for authenticity

Sir, lacrosse is not cooler than soccer. You need to cut it out. 🤣😂 That shit is impressive, for sure. But definitely not cooler.

Excited for the rest of the MCU to be covered! List of the movies in release order here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Marvel_Cinematic_Universe_films

Like many will mention, Punisher has a Netflix series that is loosely tied to the MCU. Season 1 was fantastic, and Jon Bernthal has an amazing take on the character. Also appears in Daredevil season 2. The MCU Netflix shows were supposed to be more mature in tone and while starting strong with Daredevil, the plan fell apart as quality of shows (later seasons of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist) dipped substantially and then Netflix/Disney ultimately scrapped the collaboration.

I can't be dealing with chronological order, release is the one

So glad they're doing an MCU movie. It kills me how much Dustin and Colin hate the MCU for whatever reason. Granted phase 1 is pretty subpar, but it gets so amazing after that!

We can all agree that the Olympics isn't worth watching until Cricket is added.

Colin, aren't you an ice hockey fan? What do you think of field hockey?

Great listen. I think most people will agree that the immediate group of movies after Iron Man 1 were the weakest (Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, and Hulk)....so I hope they don't put you off of the MCU. The movies really do get a lot better (and they stop dying Thor's eyebrows)

I’m totally with Dagan….. Terrence Howard would have been a great war machine. No disrespect to Don Cheadle

Totally off topic comment incoming! That first season of The Punisher was awesome

Colin, I appreciate the Water Polo shoutout in this episode. That was my main sport growing up, and it got me in the best shape of my life. A few things lol: The term we usually use when the legs are churning in the water is either referred to as “egg beating” or “treading water”. Furthermore, you actually can touch the bottom of the pool, but only if you are a goalie, and only if you can reach it, of course! 😆 Anyways, it was cool to hear you talk about the sport, since it doesn’t get nearly enough love! Have a great day, sir.

Glad you guys finally got here, and honored to be the first write-in of the MCU. These movies mostly are all solid, although next is Hulk and I don’t remember that one because they switched actors after. As others have mentioned Netflix’s Punisher and Daredevil series were both pretty badass. It’s a shame they never got incorporated into the movie side but anything is still possible especially with what’s coming up in Phase 4.
