For the first time, our very own Colin Moriarty joins the show after a loud week from PlayStation. With three studio acquisitions in the last year, they're moving at a pace we haven't seen a sniff of in the last decade. Xbox has formed into a strong competitor through the likes of Xbox Game Pass and streaming options. With Colin's PlayStation expertise and our combined Xbox knowledge, we take a bird's eye view of the chessboard on what move will be made next by both sides between exclusives, Game Pass competitors, belief in generations, the future of indies, and much more.

Great episode. The way Sony has treated its indie partnes- shutting down the Vita/PS3 store without warning seemed like a huge "Fuck you" to many smaller devs, and now knowing they barely do anything for them makes it hard to want to give them money they sort of don't deserve. I'm still going to buy & play Playstation studios games, but if I can get a comparable product elsewhere for third parties, that's where I'm taking my money now.

Sony needs to just reach into their late PS3 bag and just pump out as many quality exclusives as possible.

Great episode. These really should become something that continues, maybe once a quarter. Only thing I will add around why is PS still releasing games on PS4 when they didn’t previously. I personally think it is a combination of Covid and x86. Think they maybe expected to have more consoles out, and yes I know it’s going faster than PS4, but it feels like they expected to sell even more as the demand was there and Covid impacted semiconductors and their new ssd solution. I’ve been trying for months to get a ps5, and despite some close calls still waiting. Sony then figures out a solution to port some of these games over to PS4, as with x86 makes it a lot easier than with cell or even ps1/2, to cover up the expected shortfall. Anyway keep up the great work, love the content.

Interesting arguments but unless Microsoft can consistently make better games than sony none of it matters in terms of consoles sold. Maybe they dont care about selling more consoles and that would actually be the best course for xbox becuase I personally just dont see them making better games for me anytime soon. Also I think Colin's point about the hardcore PS fan not buying an xbox no matter what they do is very true. I see MANY hardcore xbox fans who also have ps5 but barely any ps fans interested in xbox even with them getting better and having game pass. The idea that being the most up to date with tech and streaming /subscriptions is gonna pull Microsoft ahead and have sony fall behind doesnt work imo. Case and point nintindo, Nintendo is completely archaic in how they do so many things yet they are very successful. Why is that? Becuase they provide thier fans what THEY WANT where as others cant. Same thing goes for sony honestly.
