Ignorance is bliss, or so the saying goes. But when we're kids, ignorance is also a way of life. In our tiny worlds, everything was magnified or understated: The glorious ups, our mundane everyday lives, and especially the seemingly-tragic downs. Little did we know then what we would learn later: That a lot of what we cared so deeply about didn't matter very much, that the stuff we should have paid more attention to we barely worried about, and that many of the people we looked to for guidance were flying blind, too. So instead of focusing on a movie, video game, TV show (or the like) this week, we thought we'd take the time to hone-in on the wisdom and knowledge we didn't even know existed as kids but take for granted as adults, and how a little tweak here or there in our past could have taken us in entirely different directions. If only we knew better.

Love the topic. Stuff like this is the best of Knockback. Can't wait to listen!

Joey Finelli

I wish we knew how much things cost!

Brandon Lahood

This is just long enough to get me through the rest of the work day. Thanks guys!

These types of episodes are among the best. BTW, the chase element of manhunt makes it basically hide and seek + tag. I totally support a manhunt episode, or possibly a "neighborhood games/playing outside as a kid" episode to fill it out a little more.

I think because cringe is a biological phenomenon, those who cringe the most, have likely been guilty of very similar instances of cringe inducing behavior.

Love the Fan vs. Fan opening segment. It’s a fun way to get the listeners involved!

On using math it really depends on what you do for a living. I work in finance and use algebra and statistics on a daily basis, and more advanced maths and modeling on occasion. But yes, having kids who plan on going into teaching English study calculus is stupid. Great episode. Thanks guys!

Explosivebob

I wish I knew back then the techniques I do now to better deal with my dyslexia.

Kenneth Oms

Man I didn’t know you had a relative named Dash. What a cool name. Someone was playing Shadows of the Empire on N64!

Adam Barnes

Jack wins, Australia wins. Fuck the Melbourne Demons!

Miles Williams

Love these long episodes. I'm grinding the platinum in Monster Hunter World, and these long episodes are amazing for it!

Also, chips are fries and they are also chips. Come on, Colin. It’s not that complicated

John Fazio

Dagan is too good for this world.

This was a great episode. The feeling of nostalgia I got. Thinking back on the mindset I had in high school and how much it has changed. Wishing I would of put more effort in lol. Being 26 years old, I also got a good insight on the feelings I might have in the future. Thanks for the great content!

Topics like this, College Parties, Marijuana Memories, the Divorce episode, etc have all been my favorites. Love hearing your guys take on life

Miles Williams

I definitely sympathize with the opiate addict. My story is basically the same. I spent the better part of my 20's addicted to them. I'm 32 now, and have been clean for about 6 years. But I definitely feel like I wasted a good amount of my 20's being an idiot. It took me getting arrested, and doing 45 days in jail to force me to get clean. Also not looking for sympathy or attention.

Eric Bolella

Really love this episode Col. Always appreciate yourself and Dagan’s authenticity.

Random Integer

Great episode! Hearing more about your childhood was very enlightening. *vigorous note taking*

Colin, in regards to school and college trajectory I went down a similar path haha. Really regret not trying harder in high school as I coasted through on As and Bs and occasional Cs but rarely. Then in college I knew I had always wanted to do history and got a bachelor's in history with a focus on the Hellenistic period. Now of course I don't do history at all but teach special education, haha. I could have just as easily went into gaming and such like you did but for the life of me I never considered that as a real career you could have and so didn't pursue it. I'm glad you got sidelined into gaming though as my life has been better for it! By the way, haha, one of the main reasons I decided to go the teaching route is because I love gaming so much I could take advantage of those summers off. Woohoo! I love these shows and you too Dagan (especially seeing your perspective on things as the older brother myself in the family).

Omar Rosa

Great episode! Made me appreciate life lessons learned as you grow older and how you really don’t know anything even into your 20s.

Travis B

As an adult... I now have play cloths 😂

Guys, you're overthinking this. They'll probably just charge $10 for the upgrade patch on PS5. Just like what Ubisoft did for AC: Black Flag.

BettyAnn Moriarty

Great episode. Really enjoyed it , but —— who actually was becoming Darth Vader? 😏

I really connected with the whole thinking certain girls are above your level. Man it took me so long to grow a backbone to actually start approaching people. Great episode guys I usually can't make it all the way through knockback but this one was awesome!

Kevin Sullivan

Man you guys really hit me in the feels talking about not realizing when girls were into you. There was a girl in seventh grade who talked to me a lot on a daily basis and went out of her way to catch up to me in hallways and I always thought she was too popular and too pretty for me to even consider asking out. Who knows could have happened if I wasn't so shy.

Brandon Soto

Really good episode. I definitely relate to a lot of these points. These deep, personal episodes are the best ones, besides the video game ones of course.

Brandon Soto

Forgiving people that did you wrong is always hard. Probably a Top 5 hardest thing to do.

Kenny C

What a brilliant episode. I messaged my mum straight after just to make sure she was having a good weekend and I'll buy her dinner in the week. Thanks for this guys

NeO JD

First off, both entries were solid. I can relate to Jake’s Yu-Gi-Oh lines, and Jordan might’ve just killed the entire thing with those 2 🔥 verses. The 3 year old playing outside while Dagan is inside is hilarious and very relatable. 😄 I think Manhunt for us was like a variation of Kick The Can. Getting controllers taken away was the worst. lol

BettyAnn Moriarty

Poor Dagan. He’s obviously never gotten over Danny being outside WELL after my kids were in bed. 😬

Mama Micah

Amazing episode! Speaking about grandparents always makes me sad. My grandfather was my best friend when I was a kid. He died when I was 10. I still have my two grandmothers and am so happy they’re here. But I’ll always wish I had spent even more time with my grandfather. Thanks for another great episode!

Hey Col and Dag. This isn’t the first time you’ve been there for me through fought times Colin (I’ve been listening since early beyond). This episode specifically has been a good reflection and help during these trying times. Thanks for everything you do.

Nate McKinney

Dude! We called it Manhunt too haha! Glad we weren't the only ones

Henry Morgan

One of my favorite episodes yet! Definitely couldn’t have come at a better time as I move into an apartment and start my first post-college full time job this week. Been watching/listening to your content since your IGN beyond days, and it’s been a constant source of escapism and interesting news all the way from PS3 game reviews when I was 10 to reflecting on childhood now as an adult. Thanks for everything you do!

Daniel Boyer

Just want to share my appreciation for you two! Fantastic episode that made me feel emotions which is rare these days.
