Are you losing your mind yet? Hopefully not, for while Coronavirus is running roughshod over societies around Earth, imagine how bored you'd be if you were isolating yourself and surviving a pandemic in, say, 1900. With the Internet, video games, streaming TV, and much more, we can stay entertained and connected even through these trying and historic times, but it doesn't mean it's not taking a toll on many of us. And, not surprisingly, COVID-19 is taking a toll on the gaming industry, too. Speculation continues to rage about the likelihood of PlayStation 5 launching this year, while even Sony admits that first and second party delays are possible, and imminent third party releases -- like Resident Evil 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake -- may have problems getting to you in physical format. Business moves are being made during the crisis, though: Both Avalanche Studios and Epic Games have announced reorgs and publishing deals, and tons of titles continue to come to PSN. We talk about all of that and much more (with plenty of listener inquiries) this week on Sacred Symbols. Stay safe out there.

Once again, looking forward to listening to this during my essential work. Stay safe guys and thank you for the distraction!

Just when all was bleak and lost in this world, comes a glimmer of hope, a ray of sanctity in a hopeless time.. Colin and Chris save the world once again.. Dilly Dilly!!

I have a slightly worse problem than feeling guilty for not leaving the house. I'm still working and driving 90 minutes round trip every day. I'm jealous of people getting to stay home and I'm feeling guilty about that because I know I'm much better off in that my job is still going. (The drawback also being that the town I'm driving to has 5 times as many cases as the town I'm driving from. )

Ivan Hornett

I can’t believe people are against moving the day of the show. It makes so much more sense to me. I think people are hung up on the Tuesday meme.

Kenneth Oms

Man it’s like the last of us out here in queens/nyc. Saw a girl with a face mask, gloves, and a back pack on. Thought it was Ellie

Jake Z

Why the hell would you start Nioh right before Doom Eternal's release?

Hose A Contra Razz

Staying indoors is natural to you Colin but it’s sucks when it’s needed and sort of required

Robert Graham

Not going anywhere. Plan to up my subscription if Patreon numbers drop later. Thanks for what you do, and thinking about you guys on the coasts.

I keep remembering this when you guys bring up the sales numbers on Control. When I searched for it on the Xbox store (from my console) it doesn't even appear in the search bar, but instead it shows the results for a bunch of controllers. On the digital store... So I guess they think I would rather download a controller than a triple A title that came out rather recently. Could have something to do with the poor sales.

Just beat Bioshock this morning for the first time. Great game, loved Rapture. I played Infinite first but seeing the plasmids and using them in combat was dope. Knowing me I have to tie this into PSAS, and damn it makes me appreciate Big Daddy as a playable fighter even more. Using his drill and plasmids to attack, shit was dope.

Marc Cairney

Hey C&C! I can't speak to Nioh as I haven't played, but Darksouls 3 is by way and far probably the best one of the From games. I found it a lot more fluid and the story was fantastic. Blooborne was great and I beat it, but didn't enjoy it as much.

Kyle Goodrich

Appreciate the distraction guys. I'm a healthcare worker in a nursing unit at a hospital filled with covid patients, so who knows if or when I get it. But what can you do? Gotta keep trucking and get through this. Hope everyone stays safe.

LastStandMedia

I think it's a matter of people liking the show to drop early in the week for them, especially here on Patreon. Again: We're not opposed to it, but we need more information before we make any moves. That may come in the form of a poll or something, but we'll worry about that in the coming weeks. If there's another "major" interference like we experienced with Cerny's thing, then maybe we'll move to find answers quicker.

LastStandMedia

I mean, it sucks for me, too. I don't like staying inside ALL THE TIME. Especially when I don't have much of a choice.

LastStandMedia

Maybe. Search is bad on both consoles, and Control is probably not the best name for your product, either, truth be told...

LastStandMedia

I never even tried Dark Souls 2 or 3. I felt like I would have been a poser, having not gotten too far with the original.

Dom posa

I can’t focus on anything either. Thanks for the distraction. The virus is hitting my family hard. Both sides of the family. Unfortunately I might be one of the people who drop off Patreon because I don’t know if my payment will go through tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be back real soon.

Richard Duflo

The point Chris made about Call of Duty was an excellent one. I used to hate on the series as well when that was really all there was in the FPS genre. Now that we have such different FPS experiences of high quality, I’ve actually gone back to play the CoD games. I’m not really sure how to articulate it, but I guess it’s just another game in the genre to me instead of THE game in the genre. Anyway, thank you for the distraction and stay safe!

Erk-Prime

I got the Platinum Trophy in Monster Hunter World Iceborne. Deciding what to play next??? I think I'll keep playing MHW until Resident Evil 3 comes out. Yes I've been inside stuck in my parents house unable to leave because of their worry they might catch the virus...understandable.

Colin, I want to thank you, Dagan, and Chris for all the entertainment the last week especially. I process unemployment claims and as you can imagine, it’s been super hectic and busy. All the shows have kept my mind at ease and I appreciate that very much. Hope everyone is safe and healthy. Much love!

I'm so glad the DrakenNier franchise is about to get some more love, Automata was a smash hit and reached a lot of new fans but it's just scratching the surface of Yoko Taro's genius. Nier Gestalt/Replicant had such profound messagery.

Jeremy Miller

From my perspective I think the Farmer wasn't talking about guilt in terms of getting the disease. I think it was more in terms of "Do you feel guilty being someone who can work from home and even if there was a full lockdown can still work and earn a living" Knowing a few friends who have lost their job and have no income right now I can certainly see why people would have guilt, but I have more sympathy than guilt right now.

Yuushin

So my ears perked hearing Ffxiv actually mentioned. As someone who is a huge nerd and been playing since it's launch nearly six years ago on ps4 I love hearing it brought up. I just want to give the developers credit that they been amazing responding to a changing real world. Auto demolition gets turned off often. When the super storm hit the east coast it was halted, the tsunami in Japan, and many other natural disasters as they happen in Oceania, Europe, and North America. Also it's 45 days not 30 but all good still happy to hear the game getting a mention =)

This is the official From rankings 1.Dark Souls 2.Bloodborne 3.Demons Souls 4.Sekiro 5.Dark souls 3 ****5.5 Nioh 6.Dark Souls 2

Great episode. I appreciate you guys shouting out healthcare workers to stay safe. I work at a psychiatric rehabilitation home, and being surrounded by various people with mild to severe mental illness and compromised immune systems makes for paranoia, stress, and caution to be at an all-time high. Thanks for the wonderful content as always, guys.

Daniel Rivas

I love Bloodborne but Nioh truly has the best combat system compared to the FromSoft souls games. I will always defend that.

Will Caldwell

Sending positive thoughts and love your way my bud. Sorry you are going through a rough time and hoping you get a new pup soon. My Boston saved me after my divorce and losing my toy fox terrier as part of that. Thinking of you man.

Matthew Cooper

I live in VA, still going to my job in construction every day. Plenty of people still out and about during the day. I'm not worried about getting The Wuhan, I assume almost everyone will get it eventually. Significant odds are that I'll be fine; I'm going to keep living my life.

Jack Sibert

Colin- At this point what do you think the odds are that Microsoft and Sony are stuck playing Chicken to see who dares announce a firm 2020 release date for their new console? In other words- do you think that the instant one or the other announces l they're delaying release until 2021, the other company will seize 2020 confirmation for themself? I firmly believe that the first console to market has the most material advantage, so if a competitor announces that they're vacating a release window I can easily see the other one taking holiday 2020 for themself.

Daniel Boyer

Great episode! Keep up the great work and I appreciate the restraint on the Twin Breaker trophy list. It was very well balanced!

NeO JD

Seeing some people get antsy about social distancing is interesting as a homebody. It’s almost like they don’t have backlogs. Not sure what to expect from the Epic deal but those are all very creative teams and I can’t wait to see what they come up with. The Weakest Link was awesome. I actually had the game for PlayStation. 😅

LastStandMedia

I'm proud of myself, because I've always liked it... although I've fallen off of it in recent years. =)

LastStandMedia

No problem, my man. Thank you for your hard work helping those who are down and out right now. Keep it up.

LastStandMedia

It's a dangerous time for you guys out there. Please do stay safe. We'd be up shit's creek without you!

LastStandMedia

It's funny, because I'm a homebody, but having no option but to isolate is actually taking its toll on me...

Great episode. Also thanks for Twin Breaker. Had a bit of a stressful week my wife broke her ankle very badly, and having to go to and from the hospital while not being allowed to accompany her for any of it due the the current situation, also having four kids(while not an issue) keeping them going during this had caused a few stressful moment. But I have got some free minutes here and there and having my vita by my side and playing a stage or two of Twin breaker has kept me entertained in a stressful time. Release timing couldn’t have been better for a bad time haha.

MikeLee

Hey Col, why not give Dark Souls 3 a try? It's made by the Bloodborne team and for better or for worse, is way faster and more kinetic than the first game. It just feels a lot better to play than DS1, imo. I'm about where you're at in Nioh, and I do like it, but I think it's pretty early for the "it's better than Dark Souls" discussion, especially since nioh comes with its own unique annoyances, like c'mon, what's with the balancing, did the Boat Oni have to be that hard?

Your Boi Nicky V

I agree with you on Nioh, Colin. I've thrown in the towel on all the From games I've played but I stuck with Nioh, probably because it's a lot more fluid and the setting isn't as drab and oppressive.

LastStandMedia

Nioh does have a peculiar problem of no enemy diversity, though, which kinda sucks. I'm digging it, but I'm playing very, very slowly.

Mark Palmer

The quarantine has been a blessing for me. I have a 7 month old daughter, and I’ve absolutely loved working from home and being able to spend the whole day with her. I wish I worked from home normally.
