PlayStation Plus' free game offerings have always been a little hit or miss, but this month, an essential compilation comes to the service: The BioShock Collection. BioShock, BioShock Infinite, and even BioShock 2 are some of the best games last-gen has to offer, and the original title in particular is an absolute must-play. If you haven't enjoyed these gems yet, you should, and we tell you why now's the time, since they're free-of-charge and all. But how about some news, too?! Sony is sending out random surveys asking some mighty interesting questions about Remote Play, Platinum Games is bringing Wii U-exclusive The Wonderful 101 to PS4 via Kickstarter, Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order exceeds EA's sales expectations, Cyberpunk 2077's delay might not be so dire after all, and much more. Plus: Listener questions! Is the PS3 a retro console? How many AAA exclusives should come to PlayStation 5 each calendar year? Why aren't there more games with destructible environments? Is it time we accept that you can't capture a human being in a Pokéball?

Not sure if the sales figures account for this, but I think the Pokemon Sword/Shield numbers might be so amazing because so many players buy both versions of virtually the same game. This is completely anecdotal, but every one of my friends who's still into Pokémon will always buy both versions of each new game, for the tiny differences in Pokédex variety and to get both legendaries.

I love that your show takes 1 hour to get to the meat of the episode. That is a mark of quality. Keep it up champs!

Craig Carter

Really enjoying the Pokémon/Beastiality talk on the show lately.. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna fuck Jynx amirite?

Vaughn Allison

You cant hide your prejudice against Sheetz forever, Moriarty! Thanks for the great content, guys!

Captain Canada

I noticed that this month's PS+ offerings include a PSVR title, hopefully it becomes a regular thing to replace the absent PS3 titles

That is what I'm afraid of that RE 8 will be on first person view. For me personally it just don't work. I hated RE 7 cause of that. You move so slow and cant view your surrounding like in previous games. Best example would be RE2 remake. Just look how good that game is. I just don't understand appeal of first person view :(

Colin your voice is sounding more sultry than usual today.

Jay Phillips

Awesome episode! (unwarranted bat hatred aside) ;p

In response to the fellow that asked if you two have ever had a time when a parent or someone walked in on an inappropriate part of a game or movie, etc. My dad has walked in on me playing games twice (not knocking). Both times where during a cross dressing scene. When Cloud was standing there in the Dons mansion and Tifa and Aerith said you look really pretty as a girl, dad walked in. Years later I’m playing Breath of the Wild and there’s an area you have to dress Link as a woman to sneak into the town. Pretty much exact moment when it’s clearly saying I’m a guy dressed as a girl. My dad said hey whatever you want to play is fine with me son. Took a while to explain to him what was going on. He probably still doesn’t believe me though.

To respond to Colin talking about his friend John taking his 64 pack and keeping it. I had a friend in High School who borrowed a friends Genesis and pawned it for beer money. A few months later that friend asked where my Genesis was. I told him I lent it to Bill and said "that thing got pawned, he did the same to me" we called Bill and sure enough, he pawned it.. here's to bad high school friends..

Mom walked in when I was a kid making my own female character on Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure for GameCube. I had the character rotated around to look at her butt (come on I was 9 years old) and was mortified when she came in the room. I don't think she thought anything of it but I quickly changed the character over to I think it was Simba. Hell of a game with a hell of a soundtrack, but man any time I think about that game I think of that horrifying moment.

This podcast has degraded into poke porn. But god help me I’m gonna up my pledge

Hey Colin you might've missed this but it seems like SIE Japan might be working on a AAA rpg. They also got a new studio head. I'm excited to see what they have cooking up. I believe it was Giant Bomb that came up with "Pathfinder" and "Pathfinder platformer" as an alternate name for metroidvanias.

Philip Andersen

For me I consider consoles designed for CRT to be retro and old-school. Xbox and ps2 is retro for me... but not 360/ps3

LastStandMedia

The good news is Final Fantasy VII's graphics are so bad that you'd have to literally sit there and read the text to have any idea what's going on.

LastStandMedia

Yeah, I saw this, but... didn't seem particularly newsworthy since SIE Japan is so huge and has so many teams. Maybe we'll talk about it next week.

LastStandMedia

That could do, but I think there's a popular tabletop RPG called Pathfinder which complicates things.

Biv

Adorbs! Ugh, did I just say that? https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Z5Wff1obdDQ/maxresdefault.jpg

I laughed the whole podcast. Jokes, delivery, & timing were all on point 👌 killed it fellas

Your talk about everyone hating PS+ when it came out reminded me of Qore on PS3 and how it was kinda like a pre PS+. I remember subscribing just for the MAG Beta.

Hey Col, gotta throw a correction your way. When talking about Resident Evil 8, you mentioned that Chris Redfield made his first appearance in the series with Code Veronica. This is obviously not the case, since he was one of the main characters of the very first RE four years before the aforementioned entry. How could you make such an egregious mistake??

Lee Bull

Colin, you MUST take a leaf from Chris' book and try Hellblade. You're always saying you like more digestable 5-10 hour games. Hellblade is 6 very special hours of gaming. In the words of Shia LeBeouf, DO IT!

Lee Bull

With all this talk of pant pooping, testicles meeting porcelain and so on... It's given me a great idea for your inevitable tertiary Sacred Symbols podcast. I give you, Sacred Symbols Sanitation. 💩🚽🚻

Kenneth Oms

On awkward gaming moments. One time my sister came to visit my parents house while my brother and I were playing RE5 Co-op on hard. It was at the very end when you have to button mash while the other player moves the boulder as Chris. I was button mashing with my leg up on the dresser that held the t.v, my back to the bedroom door. My sister came into my room to say bye and from her view it must have looked like I was legitimately beating my meat.

sean McGuire

Totally respect what you're saying.....but I'm not gonna play the original FF7.....I'm sorry.

Zack Forney

Kingdom Hearts 3 can be beaten in less than 30 hours

Daniel Boyer

Great show! FYI - Incubus and 311 are touring.

Marcus Brown

Really looking forward to Sacred Symbols + this week. What a great idea Col.

Oliver Johnson

I’ve always said that an Until Dawn style game set in John Carpenter’s The Thing would be incredible so I’m so glad you mentioned it. Playing as a character that you don’t know if they’re a thing would be so cool.

First time hearing the podcast early! Feels nice to be here. Edit: I need to refute Chris's comment about BOTW. Though technically he means Nintendo themselves will not bring the game to PC, the game is fully playable (and arguably best version) on PC..

Drew Sleezer

I think EA would be smart to release a AAA single player game periodically. As an old school Blizzard fan, being in the good graces of your fans and consumers means so much more than I think many are willing to admit. Diablo Immortal and Warcraft 3 Reforged are an unmitigated disaster to the community, and it appears as though people just lose respect for their upcoming releases as these blunders continue. I think EA having a Fallen Order type game every 12-18 months would improve their public image greatly, and happy consumers are more willing to spend more money.

LastStandMedia

I would like that to happen. I just don't believe that they're gonna follow small amounts of money over larger amounts (at least in terms of potential).

Just wanted to say you guys had me cracking up in this episode especially. Good stuff as always.

Anonymous

I legit was dead off the beginning of this episode probably one of the funnest if not the funniest one so far holy shit hahahah haha

Brett Medlock

Never stop talking about poop It’s the highlight of the show! (not really but it does crack me up)

Chris claims he's not a furry but wakes up to an alarm of cats having sex? Ok

In agreement about the old consoles being significantly less visually pleasing for new games, and you can’t be mad about it. It sucks sure. But what are you gonna do? If you don’t get the required hardware to play a game, you can’t play it. PC players know this the best. (AFAIK launch xbone still cannot play Modern Warfare without risk of damaging the console) That is due mostly to poor maintenance on the owners part. I know very few people who actually open up and clean the hardware they own even once before they die or get replaced. If a Dev has to tone back the vision or other aspects of a game, in anyway whatsoever, because of the launch PS4 and xbone.. That’s absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. We saw this with games moving across the generation and it was bad in most if not all cases.

Kaz Redclaw

Yeah, it's very hard to find non-fish things over there. The same way we use vegetable, chicken, or beef stock for all kinds of recipes, they use Dashi stock for almost everything, which is made from seaweed and horse mackerel. I'd recommend the Tonkatsu, for a no-fish food that isn't a salt lick. Even with that, there's no guarantee that they didn't randomly use Oyster juice in the bbq sauce they put on top, because that's just how those crazy chefs are over there.

Kaz Redclaw

(I think that survey was supposed to be under an NDA It seems that program is getting leaky.)

Kaz Redclaw

I played Wonderful 101. It was one of the games I actually bought the Wii U for, along with Xenoblade Chronicles X. Since I've finished it, and all of the other Wii U games I own, I'm almost ready to take that system off my active list. I want to play a bit more of XCX and Zelda BOTW before I pack it away forever though.

Progressive closed world rpg = metroidvania?

NeO JD

Haven’t thought about it since Chris brought it up, but damn I’m thankful I haven’t had a migraine in years. I live alone and still always check the toilet seat 😄 I’d say play all of the BioShock collection. 1 is a masterpiece, 2 felt the best, and 3 had the epic ending. Once I stopped playing COD, I canceled my PS+ sub. Haven’t missed it.
