In a strange sort of way, this week's episode of Fireside Chats is all about reality. The reality of living your normal, everyday life while also trying to pursue your dreams and passions. To talk about such a common (yet seldom-discussed) situation is Brian Penaloza, a CLS fan who works by day at a car dealership, and by night growing his tabletop RPG Twitch channel. How does Brian balance the necessities of life with the things that make life worth living? And how is he slowly turning a side project into something real? That's what our nearly hour-long discussion is all about, a chat that we hope inspires you to get out of your comfort zone, and pursue your own wild ideas.

Real America appreciates the earlier drop time!

Ryan Harvey

Wanted to say, cool to see a 9am eastern drop for the episode since I'm up early most days! 😎

Dunno if it's possible to make 9am EST the norm but I appreciate it even this once!

Great conversation! This was really inspiring for me and definitely hit home - I just started my own company to make D&D 5e (and other tabletop) software. I feel your pain and think it's great you're putting yourself out there. It's not easy to work full time while trying to build something of your own. Hang in there Brian and best of luck to you!

Great conversation about the realities of being a creative on these video/content platforms we have today. The saturation is real and to stand out and create a small community of any size is impressive so good on you Brian. Coolest thing to me honestly though was that I actually just finished going through the whole greencard process (pain in the ass) with my wife from Canada and guess where she is from....Brockville Ontario!! It's a beautiful town right there on the river but yes very small, probably to the point where our wives have crossed paths more than once lol anyways good luck with the immigration and hope you have continued success with your Twitch channel, will have to checkout a stream!

This was great as always, looking forward to discovering a new creator cause of this show!

Love this one, as a small content creator part time while working a full time job , it really speaks to me.

Hey! I published early to get out of the way of the Side Quest letter. We'll be reverting back to 9a PT moving forward. Sorry. =\

Thanks! I'm glad our chat could inspire you. And best of luck with your own tabletop endeavors as well!

Yeah, it's definitely tough out there for new (and small) creators. But as I said in the chat, you gotta make sure you are creating for the right reasons, whatever those may be for you. And what a small world! I would definitely bet our wives have crossed paths. Seems like everyone knows everyone in Brockville. Hope you get to check out a stream, and best of luck on all your endeavors as well!

Omg Colin that’s so awesome you gave a shout out to Polite Provisions! Love that place! I live on Adams Ave. as well, just a few blocks away from there 🙌🏻

LastStandMedia

It's owned by one of my best friends. If you ever see a shorter dude in there with a mustache, that's Erick. Tell him I sent you. =)

Polite Provisions is wonderful, and I've only met Erick once but he was an incredibly kind person. No establishment makes a better Old Fashioned.
