Patreon Updates! New Tiers and More! (Patreon)

 Hello, and happy July!

I wanted to take a brief moment to announce a couple of new additions to Patreon, additions I decided to make after combing through the feedback many of you provided when I asked for it some weeks back.

There are two additions and an upcoming change I wanted to highlight, in particular:

1.) The biggest piece of feedback I received, by far, is that people wanted a way to choose topics I will cover in future episodes of Colin’s Last Stand. The $2-per-month tier lets you do just that.

Here’s how it’ll work: At the beginning of each month moving forward, I’ll post a thread on Patreon for all Patrons at the $2 tier and above. This thread will be designed to solicit the topic you want me to cover the next month. Read carefully, though! If a person has already contributed your topic idea, all you have to do to vote for that topic is like that post (the “heart” icon).

Toward the end of the month, I will compile the 5 topics that received the most votes and put them into a Patreon-exclusive poll for all $2+/month Patrons. Everyone can then vote, and the winner of the vote will get a dedicated, full-length episode of Colin’s Last Stand the following month. And so on and so forth.

I feel like this is a really reasonable and fun solution to getting direct user feedback on topics.

2.) Another piece of common feedback I received was that people wanted more direct access to me. While I send monthly postcards out at the $50+/month level, and do personalized thank you videos after three months at the $100+/month level (the first 30 personalized videos went out in May!), people wanted a chance to speak with me directly.

So, I’ve gone ahead and opened up a new, premium tier on Patreon above the $100/month level. At the $300-a-month level, you and I will have a 20 minute, private Skype chat. You’ll also get every single tier below that for every month you remain at that tier as well (one month towards the every-three-months personalized thank you video, the signed Tweet [which is going away after this month; more on that below], a postcard, a Producer credit, access to the exclusive Q&A, and access to the two-times-weekly News Bursts).

I’m not sure anyone will take advantage of this tier, but it’s here if you’d like to use it, and we can talk about whatever you want (within reason). Politics, history, whatever.

(Please note that those at the $100/month tier could, beginning this month, “cash-in” their three months’ thank you video for a Skype hangout without losing any of the other perks underneath. I want to be equitable, and give y’all what you want! So just reach out via Patreon’s messaging system if that’s what you’d like, if and when your next three month time period elapses.)

3.) This month (July) will be the final month I’ll have a $55+/month tier for “The Signed Infamous Tweet.” I was actually going to take it away sooner, but there are more people that wanted it and signed up for it, and so I’d like to accommodate them before moving on.

What I’ve decided is that I’d like to have a “roving tier” every month or so, where there’s something new, likely more premium, and something different for people who are looking to explore the Patreon tiers, or who are otherwise seeking something more unique. As a result, I hope you’ll continue to give me feedback on what you may like me to do as far as tiering is concerned. I have a few ideas moving forward, but I’d like yours, as well.
