Please welcome Xbox-centric journalist, podcaster, and editor Jez Corden to Sacred Symbols+. For this episode, I (Colin) sat down with Jez for a two hour chat that touches on a number of relevant subjects: Game pricing, the evolution of industry PR, funding AAA (and AAAA?) titles, the PlayStation brand's Apple-like evolution, the future of GamePass and other subscriptions, which Xbox exclusives may come to PS5 next, the revitalization of handheld gaming, and so much more. This is a great, metered, fair, and insightful conversation that we suspect you're gonna love. Enjoy.

I honestly don't understand a lot of the praise. I think a lot of Jez's analysis was just bad or not very insightful. Current consoles are just an in house server for games? That's not even remotely accurate, I don't think streaming is that widely used. Switch is 0% streaming. Then his whole take on Xbox gamers not wanting to switch over just isn't the same as Playstation because there's so many less of them. I also don't think Colin pushed enough in the portion of the conversation about Phil Spencer, I think Jez is very clearly too close to the ecosystem. People saying Jez is the Colin of Xbox don't really understand what Colin does.

I think you might be misinterpreting what Jez meant about consoles and "in house servers". What Jez is saying is that it is cheaper for MS for someone to buy their own console and power it with their own electricity. This is in contrast to someone playing on a "server blade", which is just a console that MS needs to pay to power, store on their own property (which is another cost), and so on.

Great conversation, would like to see Jez back in the future for sure
