In this concluding episode, we'll speak to some migrants of Guatemalan and Bengali descent, examine the value of the US dollar in developing nations, and follow one of the Texas-funded commuter buses through Arizona onto the Tohono O'odham nation.

I hope you all found this series to be informative - we've got a lot more Border coverage in the works .. next, we'll approach this issue from the Mexican side.

Stay tuned,

AC.

Absolutely amazing series, great work C5

Anonymous

You been on some crazy shit recently Channel 5. Loving it

Anonymous

At 0.42 she's saying she doesn't want his kid to live in danger, she says "daño" and not "año". Great video !

Anonymous

I'm from and live on the Tohono O'odham rez I watch your content all the time! it's awesome to see you cover stuff in our area we fuck with you thanks .

Anonymous

Thank you bro! Currently showing my granny this series, she’s constantly glued to doom and gloom news TV and ranting about “illegals” so nice to be able to humanize these migrants

Harry Aiken

Where was that bus going??

Buz Lee

What an ending. Wonder wtf happened afterward.

Anonymous

Saw an Indian passport too. I think there are genuine people who are there but some are just following the crowd

Anonymous

You said that you were confronted about your inability to film on the reservation. Were you not able to continue to follow the bus after it left the reservation? Or was that the bus’s final destination?

bozobasher9000

You should pose as a migrant and secret cam the whole trip

mike ayers

Top notch reporting bro 👍 . Won’t see shit like this on CNN . It’s nice to watch a source I trust.

mjkah

quite the journey these people experienced

Anonymous

Maybe I just don't have enough information, but it seems like the majority of the migrants want to work in some sort of service industry, and childcare industry. These very same industries that are always hurting for employees and for childcare. I know several people who always say how expensive it is, and I think the cost would go down if we had more employees in that workforce. It seems both problems could be fixed by some sort of Work program that would also help with increases in tax revenue.

McGuire Brown

thank u andrew for the video love u lots mwah

Pixel-davis

Well that ended abruptly

Anonymous

Hold on, is it crazy to think they send them back through that grey area border? such a cliffhanger

Anonymous

yall gotta give us a part 5 cause that ending wasn’t it

Great series, folks. I encourage everyone to watch Peter Santello's border series to educate yourself even more.

Anonymous

the government cannot be trusted that's all I know

spirals

what a wild ending, cant wait to see what happens next

Anonymous

How....how are the Africans and Asians getting to S. America/Mexico?

Anonymous

Something a lot of people don't know is that the vast majority of illegal immigrants do pay taxes. It helps them prove "good moral standing" and strengthens their case for legal immigration. They are responsible for billions in tax revenue every year

HeyRooster

Did the bus/abbot cronies use Tribal Land to ditch you? That's scandalous.

Riley

dang i really wanna know where that bus goes. Also so interesting that tribal police laws were used by the feds to circumvent the normal first amendment protections

Anonymous

He explores that in one of the previous videos - don't remember which one it was but it's an interesting journey.

Adam Guerin

I need a part five

Iceplotion

Sad we didn't see where these people ended up. Who knows where they are now might have been worthwhile to give them your contact details for them to tell you their story after it all settles

Smart Feller

A real group of native american trackers tracking human traffickers called the shadow wolves is absolutely insane. Would not have guessed that's a thing that exists in real life, but I wish them the best of luck in fighting human trafficking. That's incredible

Anonymous

I like your stuff but 'ppl would move to maine to earn 3x more salary' is at best a rough approximation of economic migration (ie doesn't consider cost of living). I would like to see you dig a bit deeper on this rather than present super high level and imprecise arguments.

Em and Jo Talk

Wow the ending is wild dude

Anonymous

They fly to south america, then to el savador, then take travel north.

Anonymous

That seems highly illegal all the same. Does the constitution not exist on tribal land?

Anonymous

Bangladeshi dude has a properly good reason to be in the USA. Not just to get richer.

Anonymous

should've given the guy an air tag to track

Caleb Clay

That ending was wild, would love to hear more about the native reservations. I feel like that’s such an isolated part of America..

Kristi Brennan

The Bangladeshi man flew from Turkey to Mexico. Chinese fly to Quito I read, as there are no visa requirements in Ecuador. Then they typically fly to Mexico. There is a ton of bus and airplane transport, every immigrant story isn't about walking thousands of miles on foot through jungles and hopping trains. In the Yuma sector, a sheriff who was interviewed said the vast majority have flown into Mexicali. The Border patrol can tell - the bus/plane migrants are clean, new shoes etc.

Andrew O'Connor

If you walk around downtown Chicago you will notice a large amount of Latin American people on the streets. I spoke with a man from Ecuador who had been dropped off by one of these buses. The people get little to no support and are essentially just get dropped off and told to figure it out.

Anonymous

I was brought over to the U.S by my mom when I was 1, (24now). Feels so weird growing up here and being American in every way, yet not welcomed because of the piece of dirt I was born on. Yes there needs to be a solution, but securing the boarder would be stopping 1 of the several leaks in the system. The DACA program showed to have great success, as there were several limitations that required the immagrant to prove that they aren't going to be a problem for the US. A similar program could help these people come and work for their goals without being a net loss for the economy.

Anonymous

"Thank you for doing this story, but you're not allowed to do this story here." What a surprise...

Sweaty Palms

Woah Im really curious why they brought them to the reservation?? why was the helicopter there? Also Andrew, in Chicago there is a migrant shelter on the corner of a neighborhood called Pilsen (also suffering from gentrification), the migrant shelter was actaully a old warehouse/factory, the conditions in there are extremely unsafe, a couple months ago a 5 year old boy died. i drove past it recently and saw hundreds of migrants standing outside freezing bc it was more safe than being inside there. down below is a article about how city officials know about the conditions. sad to see people suffer due to a lack of political will. thank you andrew for covering topics most would never. https://news.wttw.com/2024/01/16/emails-show-johnson-city-officials-notified-about-sewage-roaches-and-illnesses-pilsen

Jason Sellers

disappointing to see native americans using their tribal land to allow the US government to conduct activities in secret, and being hostile to the press. I guess the only God they worship now is Money, just like the rest of us. Allowing the US Government to hide activities on Tribal land is a shameful practice from both sides. They wouldn't be doing this unless there was something they didn't want us to see.

tony ravioli

Agreed. Importantly, that comparison makes it seem like the migrants are going to have it easy in America. Meanwhile, the federal minimum wage is not enough money to pay essential bills and feed yourself in most parts of America.

Holden

What happened to you going to Honduras?

SammieTalls

As citizens, we are all members of the press and it is our responsibility to hold our government accountable. ALWAYS RECORD YOUR INTERACTIONS WITH ANY GOVERNMENT AGENCY. It's your constitutionally protected first amendment. Exercise it or lose it!

Miccalo

Thank you for continually pulling the thread :)

Anonymous

Is it completely off the table to question if there could be some human trafficking involved?

Adrian Morales

God bless these people. This is insane. Thank you for showing us this Andrew

Josh Newton

This is must see TV baby

Sam Nordstrom

am i tripping or did Andrew hint that they crossed the border illeaglly with smugglers at one point?

Anonymous

Can someone put a pin on a map where that airport was? I can't find one on the reservation that matches the trip they took...

Anonymous

I feel bad for that man from Bangladesh. He is gonna be pissed once he finds out that US politics are just as bad. Rigged elections, corrupt politicians, and the ILLUSION of freedom. Sure, it's freer than most...for now. But this problem he is facing at home in Bangladesh is a global issue. It almost seems like there is a hidden force that is controlling all of the worlds most important political leaders...

Sam Nordstrom

I thought in one of the YouTube promos y'all implied that, maybe not... either way content is fantastic

Anonymous

Why did it just stop at 12min?!?! Is there another part or you just leaving us on a hanger

Anonymous

DUDE THATS MY REZ.. shout out Andrew.

Anonymous

I saw that too! Though maybe not a wise thing to post - even behind a paywall.

Moon Supervisor

this is my favorite series you've done. i want to know what happens to the migrants once they hit the major cities. this is one of the most informative pieces of journalism i've seen on this topic. i had no idea that this is what is happening at the southern border. i want to see more so badly.

Music Colin

I love the end of this where Andrew utilizes his brilliantly designed "baby nod" where he just nods his head lightly in order to allow the person to keep speaking their truth (without him commenting (of course he didn't know what was said, but get the story and translate later) phenomenal) . it's brilliant interview patience. this guy is doing serious work reporting for this country . can't thank him enough for this content & all his travels / hard work . him and his team/crew

Music Colin

so airport on a res , then anywhere easily , wow

So the story ends here because you couldn’t see the tribal leaders to get permission to film? And you lost track of the bus?

ANOTHER CLIFF HANGER BEAUTIFUL JOURNALISM

djdeutschebahn

My impression is that they stopped, bc they proved a point and gathered valuable information (Cooporation between native land and us gov). Also they already know where the bus is going. So no need to track this particular bus and the risk to be stopped again while tracking any other bus is pretty high.

Wylcey Keep

So uh, Part 5/4 when?

Ernesto

Unrelated question. Is there a noticeable socio-economic difference between the immigrants you saw from Africa/South East Asia and Central America ?

Ernesto

Plus they pay sales taxes every time they purchase anything.

Jeremy

Very cool getting some political insight on the happenings of Bangladesh. My American main character energy is fading…

my name

i wish i could get my mom to watch this 4 part series but unfortunately she won't subscribe unless you change your name to channel CNN or something

Anonymous

Thank you for reporting the facts, Andrew and team. Curiosity got the best of me, E78 shows no flights in or out. Did a plane ever take off…?

Anonymous

hey andrew (or whoever manages the patreon) i noticed some of the captions are not well translated for example 0:40 secs in to the video she says 'yo no quiero que a mi hijo le hagan ningun daño' which means 'i dont want them to hurt my son in any way' but in the video its translated to 'because i dont want my son to live there for another year'. i've also noticed stuff like these in the other arizona videos too were some phrases of the translation were wrong.

Anonymous

been waiting for this

Anonymous

So did you finish following the bus? Series kind of abruptly ends without pay off

Sebastian

Dude we need parts 5 and 6 on this! Great stuff

Anonymous

I’d love to see your investigation on the history on US interference with the governments and resources of these central and South American countries. It’s seems like the immigration we’re seeing now is a result of a long history of covert (and sometimes overt) US manipulation of the region. Keep up the amazing work out there channel 5 team!

Supreme_Skywalker

We need a border Patrol Trilogy Man, i would personally pay more for Frontline length Doc services about these people keep up the good work

Where did the bus go? Where did the people go?

Justin Smith

This is an amazing series

cheekybean

Great series. This is my favorite so far! I think there's so much to this story I wish it would continue and for Andrew to go deeper.

Swampy

Mohammad is an inspiring man. I wish him good luck. I wish you could have spoken to him. It’s easy to take our freedoms for granted when our people still suffer, but stories like his make me grateful I’m here. Hope he gets to live that illusive American dream. He’s obviously smart and has not walked an easy road here. God bless.

Swampy

Not saying it’s light reading but if you’re really interested there’s an official global history of known cia operations. My old man read it cover to cover like the armchair sociologist maniac he is when I was a kid and told me about plenty of them. It’s fucking insane what our tax dollars do.

Swampy

Our politics suck, but objectively we don’t exile political parties here. I’m sure he’ll be disappointed by our politics, or maybe he already follows them and knows. He’s exactly who the asylum program was designed for. He will probably be an upstanding community member with that back ground. Hope he thrives

2024-01-22 05:46:16 A profound and creative decision to end this episode as abruptly as your investigation came to a halt at this point. Not to sound conspiratorial, but very convenient that the press legally cannot film the events that followed the bus’ arrival at the airport. Seems almost international, I have a feeling that the Texas governor/GOP constituency does not want the truth of how these migrants transition to sanctuary status is handled under the new program they’re instituting. Thank you Andrew and team for humanizing these people and their struggle, while not dressing up or sugar coating the raw facts of the crisis itself.

Bro we need to follow this further!!!

Nas

Wait so what’s next ? What was this airfield about and where do they fly them to ? Man looks like a Bosch episode

Anonymous

I genuinely don't believe they are they same person.. the person in this video has a much clearer, profound voice, has much more hair folacles on his nose and cheeks, and his nose is more button-shaped than the person from the Area 51. I could be wrong, but Andrew doesn't ever really verify they are the same person in this series

Anonymous

idk man they do look similar especially if u think 5 years ageing, the ears look the exact same and an accent would be easy to put on but i can’t be sure so maybe it’s not. weird either way

Luke

BIG BALLS over at channel 5.

Luke

it's the same dude. he's just going where the action is like Andrew

Anikat

Yeah, I also wish they would address how they know it's him. Two older white guys with sunglasses on can look similar...so how do they actually know?

Ryan

Good work. And I'm always so impressed, your Spanish is so good

Anikat

Great journalism. It kind of made me laugh sadly that the lady wanted to move to Prescott Valley. I just moved from there, and it's a very white, old, Trump-loving place; not friendly to anyone non-white, ESPECIALLY if you speak accented English. I hope she does well.

Luke Fender

If Mohammed's story doesn't make you feel proud to be an American. Fuckkkkk! We take so much for granted in this country.

idk that seems a bit of a coincidence i saw somebody say the two places are like 800 miles apart? to me it seems more like he’s keeping eyes on andrew and there’s a deeper meaning. why’s he faking an accent?

Anonymous

I don't know if you have already started the series on the Mexican side of the border, but you can walk across to Nogales you can find a grip of people trying to seek asylum, waiting to cross the border. I've been going down there for a few years, and I have encountered people from all over the world trying to find sanctuary in the US. They probably won't let you film in line once you get to the gates to go across the border, but the line gets so big that you can film very close to it.

Anonymous

This needs its own full length doc. Thank y'all so much for the hustle. Channel 5 to the moon

Lord of the fleas

I’ve worked in kitchens for 9 years as a white man I have met so many immigrants that will have a second or even third job that they don’t even get paid for and the worst part is that I don’t find out until they are unemployed because there too scared to tell anyone about it

This can't be over. Answers are needed for where there busses are actually leading these migrants to. Is there a way to confirm if the destination of this one was indeed new york or Chicago. Did you went back after this or this you continue following? Who was on the helicopter and were they used to move migrants? This leaves more questions than answers damn

Dan Ridlon

Hey I'm a patreon subscriber from Maine. What a coincidink!

Dan Ridlon

That must of been really intense, the helicopter landing next to you

I think it would have been interesting to dive into the reasons why african refugees are choosing america over europe. my guess is because the mediterranean is considered the deadliest border in the world for refugees (by design), but id love a good report on that topic.

Isaac Healey

wtf 4/4 with a cliff hanger like that?!

jacob turnblom

Its great to help people and support them. However I wonder if the countries they are fleeing from have any hope of changing if those most willing to take action for change all leave to the US? Is it possible if they were NOT able to leave, the pressure there would make these groups more likely to organize and change their exisiting home countries for the better?

Anonymous

If you managed to get the contact information for any of the people you interviewed, it would be interesting to follow up with them when they are settled just to make sure the buss went where it said it would, and to see how their lives are going and if their perception of the American dream has changed at all.

kh

most european countries don't have the same degree of free-for-all open border policy as the usa now has, so it probably seems more appealing to try to get to the usa. it's similar to why so many don't bother continuing on to canada even though canada could offer a lot of benefits. the last few years has demonstrated that almost anyone from anywhere can just show up in america and be free to stay

Joshua Duarte

Damn I just missed the upload you deleted by a few minutes rip

Christian

Yo the people need the Texas story please get it back up asap much respect to you and your team

Anthony J Malone

Anonymous

Andrew, I truly enjoy your series and value your content. As the sole Patreon I support, I appreciate the focus on humanizing migrants. However, it would be insightful if you could also address the potential challenges of open borders and overpopulation that some cities are currently facing. While we all share a desire to help our neighbors, it's essential to discuss the broader question of the sustainability of asylum-seeking and this type of immigration for a country. Additionally, exploring tangible policy changes that could facilitate the immigration process would add depth to the conversation.

Silvie

3:11 the guy says "its for something good" not "to earn good money here" . just feel like the poor translation makes it seem like they are more money oriented than anything. just wanted to clarify <3

Hey man thanks for taking your time interviewing the Bengali guys. I was born in Bangladesh and have lived in the states my whole life. Thank you for shining light on the situation over there its affected my family but it gave my dad courage to come here 35 years ago. Also the Bengali translation was good from what i heard

Anonymous

That’s the Sells, AZ airport. It looks like the flight data is available for purchase from the FAA.

Anonymous

Thanks for going in-depth on the Bangladeshi migrant. As a diaspora living in Canada, it hits so close to home yet so distant at the same time, and as a nation of over 160 million, the lack of coverage on what’s going on has been alarming.

Jim

Nah I don't need to see the injuries as they are inflicted to get what's going on there. These stories are already grim enough, I'd rather not see a literal beating :/

Anonymous

Hi Andrew, big fan from Germany here. If you ever need a German translation for sth hit me up. You're doing great works, thank you!

Jose Echeagaray

What is going on in the reservation? There should be an in-depth focus on that

Ah yes. All he wants to do is come here illegally, take an americans job, lower the value of wages, work without paying taxes, and send the money back home. Why would I? You need to look into the refugee camp they have in Yuma. They vacated a local swap meet to house them

I doubt the airport was being used. I think the detour into tribal land was done to shake the vehicle following the buss, they may have thought it was a threat.

Without illegal immigration the entire food and agriculture system in the US would collapse. They are the permanent underclass necessary to create this diseased, wasteful culture we have in the US that allows morons like yourself to comfortably complain about shit they have no clue about while stuffing their face with cheetos. Read a book.

Adam baba

Incredible. This is the best channel 5 has ever been. Still hoping for that Kelly j patriot doc to be finished one day.

FORTYozSTEAK

That’s how it ends? Seriously no follow up?

FORTYozSTEAK

I love how the government gets a free pass to not innovate any of their systems or processes like creating a faster route for legal immigration. They have the resources and money to do so yet prefer to remain outdated, corrupt, and push illegal immigration as the only solution

Anonymous

Nonsense. "Our country would collapse without illegals" your brain washing is deep.

FORTYozSTEAK

It’s journalism. Hiding certain aspects of a story, imagery, video only hurts to tell the full story

Anonymous

there is follow up in the texas border crisis, there he tries to learn more about the trafficers

Anonymous

It would. Immigrants make up a huge population of the workforce in terms of farming & agriculture, construction, cleaning, etc. They also pay taxes and participate in stimulating the economy just by virtue of living here, having a house, paying for food, etc. Idk what jobs you think they're stealing, but they're probably not the ones you want. And if you REALLY think there isn't enough resources to go around for all of us, then your brainwashing is deep

Anonymous

Dang that sucks it ended so abruptly. Now I'm interested in learning about the Indian reservation tho

Anonymous

There's plenty of resources for everyone. You should let them live with you and share.

I want to know where that bus was leaving people

SanestFlexican

Everybody pays taxes when consuming stuff unless you are Uber rich, ilegal immigrants do jobs that everybody else’s benefits from and as others already mentioned US economy wouldn’t function without these modern day slaves.

Anonymous

It would be really interesting to see the reservations part of the border crisis issue. I am native and am close to that reservation having to move from one reservation to another, its interesting to see what their way of handling things as big as this issue is. Within that reservation there is a lot of gang violence that has been happening for many years only for it to only ever increase, so it leads me to wonder if they feel the same way as the American government feels about gang violence in the street. My mom has worked on that Rez as a school nurse for a while now but this is my first time seeing the president talk about that issue.

Anonymous

Dude, the US has a historically low unemployment rate, if something, companies find it hard to fill their vacant positions. What kind of work will these people take away?

sleepcycl

same, the real mystery for me. are they getting flewn off to places like chicago and NY or what? are they being imprisoned? killed? could be anything.

Anonymous

The percentage of unemployed individuals, is based on the amount of people on unemployment, I'll try to not insult your intelligence, because finance is hard. But the unemployment figure is more accurately called a "job-less claims" figure because it doesn't measure every single person who's living with their parents and actually jobless. Just the people who are claiming they are. Just like the census doesnt count every single person living in the US, just the people who respond. If a convenience store owner is hiring in California, who is he more likely to hire? A citizen who will expect more pay and who needs a w2 or an illegal he can pay under the table? Try to go learn something and come to your own conclusions. I don't think this way because Republicans told me too. I think this way because I have a basic understanding of finance and how economies work. Illegal immigration on this scale, devalues labor, and lowers the tax base for the government.

Jay

Why is there ominous music playing over the busses while you mention them going to sanctuary cities? Is Texas supposed to absorb all those people by itself?

MySelf69

it is indeed a complex subject that needs deep and proper care.

MySelf69

always good to point out those usages of artistic artifices, ya never really know what the people behind this vehicle are really after. Channel 5 seems dope and all, but we all human.

Nat04

Is this really the end just an abrupt stop of the bus being taken to a place you basically said is a bit below the radar and filming was conveniently not allowed there? 😨

Anonymous

WTF. Did you ask them what was going on there?

Anonymous

Take an American's job? There's always a bit of unemployment. There's jobs to spare. Lower value of wages? Illegal work means illegal pay. You think these guys are getting paid fairly? You're wage is safe, don't worry. They don't stimulate the economy? Lol, what, you think they do back to Mexico to eat, for entertainment, do all their shopping, etc... they still have to actively participate in the economy. These guys aren't hurting anyone. Actually, without them we'd probably have issues with keeping CA's agriculture industry the size it is

I’m pretty left leaning but that’s a fair point you raised. It’s a national issue that shouldn’t be held on the shoulders of border states.

Please return with a permit 🥰 And get some legal advice, you probably could have prevented the trouble in your next endeavour (where you crossed the border) by just preemptively informing immigrations that you will enter as it was a violation of notifiying your entry
