 This article tells the story of 25 year old Steven Crawford’s business known as Date A Doll Services Limited, where he rents out his sex doll named Faith for £60-an-hour. He admits that the neighbors won’t like what he’s doing, but that. Quote.

'I’m just hiring out equipment. It’s really just a mutual agreement between two people within a safe environment.' Unquote.

Oh Steven. Didn’t you learn anything from Lovedoll UK being shut down last week? Your neighbors are going to complain, and you’re going to get shut down. No, they won’t understand, and no, the government isn’t going to see it simply as you lending out equipment. These sex dolls are treated as if they were human prostitutes for better or for worse, so expect the same level of stigma and harassment as you would if you were to try and pimp your girlfriend out of your house.

This really got me thinking though. Actual meatbag women literally whore themselves out all the time, and nobody seems to mind. In fact, while articles like this make a big deal out of a doll brothel in the UK, the fact is that there are already hundreds, if not thousands, of women who use social media and sites like seeking arrangements to whore themselves out all the time. It’s no different than what Steven is trying to do with his Date a Doll business.

This brings us to the second article I’d like to cover, which appeared in the cut. Called The Unemployed Woman Whose Date Venmos Her $500. Written February 11th 2018. The article is a diary of sorts submitted by an unnamed call girl who is unemployed, but spends her days flirting and sexting with guys on social media and organizing dates where she will be compensated. She meets guys on Tinder, on Bumble, on Seeking Arrangements, etc. The diary entries are full of her insecurities, and it’s an interesting read if only to realize how unexciting the life of a call girl actually is. She even admits to having sex with some men for free if she finds them attractive enough, while demanding payment from others. Think about that the next time you meet someone on Tinder or any other dating app. She might be moonlighting as a prostitute, and you’d never know.

Anyway, why am I bringing this up. Obviously, what this unnamed whore is doing on Tinder and Seeking Arrangement is no different than what Steven is doing with his doll, so why the double standard? Why is a sex doll brothel worthy of headlines, angry neighbors, and legal action? Whereas a woman prostituting herself and charging compensation for dates perfectly acceptable?

I believe the answer is that what Steven is doing is too honest. Instead of opening up a doll brothel, he should think like these call girls, and be more discrete. How can this be done?

Advertise the doll as a therapy doll, not a sex doll. Think of these cuddle cafes or cuddle services that have started. She’s not a sex doll, she’s an emotional support doll. You can cuddle with her, and that sort of thing if you’re lonely, insecure, or shy. It’s not hard to fill in the blanks honestly.

So then, you rent out the doll as a therapy doll, and just like magic, it’s not a brothel. Seeking arrangements goes out of its way to make a distinction between sugar babies and prostitutes, but it’s a distinction without a difference. It’s like paying a prostitute for the quote unquote girlfriend experience. It doesn’t suddenly make her not a prostitute.

Anyway, I’m sure Steven’s company will be shut down shortly, but I hope that my suggestions will help the next entrepreneurial doll brothel find more success by rebranding themselves as therapy dolls, or whatever. Honestly, we all know what’s up regardless of what you call it, but just be smart, and learn from the mistakes of those that came before you. Pun intended.

Ah. the city of love. Now it’s worth noting that Paris has a red light district, so there is a good chance that this brothel will be allowed to do business, unlike it’s predecessors in the UK. We’ll have to wait and see.
