Alch would love your take on this. It feels like wiseman uses his hands to make himself a target or make himself bigger, which means he has to bring them together to catch the ball. He’s playing with pros, they know where he is, if he held his hands more pass ready like this 👐🏼 instead of this 🙌🏼, wouldn’t that help with those close pocket passes…?

Jimmy Ji

From watching last night's game, I just think the Warriors system is just too advanced for our young guys to develop into because it involves chemistry more than anything else. Of course you can expect the core to play within the system because they understand their roles and have played with each other the longest. The young guys just don't have enough experience and chemistry with Steph to understand what their role is within the system.

It is Wise vs. JK Can't develop both simultaneously

Anonymous

You are right which is prolly why Kerr needs to switch to PnR with the 2nd unit, and kick out from the post from Kuminga or dare I say Wiseman. All the complicated actions should be left for the vets. This can be the best way IF they want to win now. Get Wiseman some midis with pick and pop. He's decent from there

Anonymous

Easier to develop wise because he doesn’t need the ball in his hands…It would be a tragic mistake to play kuminga as a center…he can easily be dray’s replacement with that type of feel and poise…

Anonymous

How important do y’all think compromise is in development?

Anonymous

I couldn't disagree more, Wise requires the Warriors to play an entirely different brand of basketball due to his limitations. He only plays 13 minutes and yet every time he hits the floor the Dubs momentum dissipates.

Sign Dwight or LaMarcus Send Wise to the G League till New Years Or, trade him, while the shine of his ceiling is still bright in somebody's eyes. He's a project, can't be the backbone of a 2nd unit. It's a vets job on a contender. He's shown enough as a prospect to have value on the trade market and enough consistent mistakes to know he can't play playoff minutes as of yet.

Given the result last year, not too sure the front office is gonna budge on their youth movement within this run. As much as I’d like them to treat the 3 core like a LBJ team (or at least how they used to be) and just get all the best talent you can right now regardless of mortgaging the future, I have to trust this front office, their track record is too good and consistent.

Anonymous

It's not really necessary to sell the farm, they just need to solidify the backup center situation. Wiseman cannot and will not fill the Bjelicia roll from last year's playoff run.

Anonymous

I agree.it would still be a disservice for kuminga to ask him to play that position…i want him to get reps that match his play style…that’s development for me….

Anonymous

For sure, Kuminga can't play center, I agree with you there. They need to sign a vet for backup 5 and let Kuminga soak up some wing minutes each game. That would have far less negative impact that James in the center of it all.

Kudos to you. You almost never see people say, "Maaan. I don't know. But the professionals who do this for a living and keep succeeding at it believe it, so... I'm gonna go with them."

Keith Reynolds Jr.

I get people wanting more from wiseman. I do, but there are a lot of issues with the defense and boxing out. People like to point at James because he is big. These entry passes arent great; and the warriors are trying to make him Looney in my opinion instead of just letting him play I believe he is thinking so much that he can't just play. green and Poole to me have been horrible. That is the bigger issue. Poole's effort on defense is simply unacceptable.

Anonymous

Easier to develop kuminga, he can set a screen, he can pass, and he can PLAY DEFENSE most importantly.

Warriors are doing all of their young guys a disservice by trying to develop them all at once. They cannot develop so many young guys all the while contending for a title. Someone will say what about Poole. They developed Poole because Klay wasn't around. If Klay was there playing 35 minutes a night, Poole wouldn't be the 140 million man he is now. Poole also had opportunities to play thru mistakes. Wiseman and Kuminga don't have that luxury. Wiseman's contemporaries Edwards and Lamelo are all starting and playing heavy minutes because they have to. Wiseman is barely getting 20 minutes a game. Kuminga would be starting if he was drafted by the Spurs but he is the 11th man on this team. This doesn't even take into account how the Warriors will eventually need to work in Baldwin and Rollins. They should pick 2 or 3 youngsters and try to trade the rest to fill out the roster.

To me it's kind of obvious what's going, the ownership and coaching staff NEEDED to see what Wiseman was all about, because they need to make a decision about him. So they gave him some good run in the first ten games..........it was a disaster. In order to keep the core together, you're going to have to cut about $13 mil in salary next year, and that's exactly how much Wiseman makes. I think a friendly divorce is in order, and I could see them trading him by the deadline. They've seen enough, and they've seen the fit doesn't work. The fit works with Kuminga though.

Anonymous

they like Poole and Wiseman in PnR but the problem is they both SUCK at defense. Poole gives you spacing and shot making/creation, so it's not as terrible.

Anonymous

I think that's why they played Wiseman over Kuminga the first ten games. They wanted to see if Wiseman was worth the squeeze, and see if he could possibly fit...he doesn't.

Anonymous

I don't think we are doing Wiseman any favours trying to force him into a role that he's perhaps not comfortable with. He clearly can't do what we need him to do and I don't think he can develop the fundamental skills to even fill that limited role quickly enough if this team wants to contend again this season. Bob and Joe need to accept that the experiment is over and ship Wiseman for a backup 5 we can actually play and still hope to win games with. Kuminga's minutes can I think be used much more strategically without costing us games.

be here now

k fish

Wrong, kuminga just needs court time....he positively impacts the game more then any of our other bench guys. Stop acting like it's hard to play an efficient player who defends lol Kerr just sucks

Anonymous

I agree, Kuminga has a ton of potential as a defender, just not at small ball 5. He should be playing at least 12 mins a game but on the wing.

Chip Tingle

On top of all the positives you highlight, Alch, team D w/o fouling was a huge difference. Not saying it’s arrived yet, but that was a huge improvement. A lot of factors adding up: Japan limits camp; Dray punch dynamics; new bench; chip hangover; Wiseman needs a lotta work; JP a shell; DDV injury; Klay slow ramp up/mental block….all are solvable problems, & I have faith in Kerr and whole org to do the work. JK and Lamb getting minutes at 4/5, decreasing Wise & JMG, could be impactful based on last night. I’m thinking more 2 guard for JP next to Ty (& DDV) will free him up, take pressure off. If team D doesn’t change radically, it’s gonna be a long season.

Anonymous

I like what you said about ownership. I think that there is a disconnect of accountability bc dray can’t yell at the youth bc of how the media will now twist everything he does. Once that all dies down and dray can bring the fire without being charge for murder. We’ll win at a good pace

Anonymous

I also agree about JaMychle. Felt like he’s careless on both ends. Is it that he’s trying to live up to the Otto porter shadow? Or does he just not understand the system yet? Seems like he wants a ring without putting in the effort rn

Anonymous

I'm a Ty Jerome type of player ngl.

I have never seen any dynasty function this way.... yes the bulls let Horace Grant go but they got an experienced European player in Toni Kukuc. They then eventually got Dennis Rodman. They switched out Bj for Steve kerr who was a known sniper. I've never seen a championship dynasty team not adjust in the off season and not get better. They should have just run it back with the guys we had. Pay gp2 and porter and offer Poole less. I just don't see the bench being any better.

Natto Santo

Wise was looking good in SL and first 3 games. Now we are all trashing him again😂 Just chill, he is a bit of slow learner but he is eager to learn and easily be psych out. His touch is nice and eager to learn. He will be a serviceable big by the end of the season

Anonymous

The praise was relative to the expectations. He's now the primary reason for having some of the worst 2nd quarters in the NBA

Steve

I have to listen until I hear the eDrum

Anonymous

You know it lol I have to hear it every time, or the day aint gon be good lol

Patrick Kennedy

I think your “ownership” take was key, Alch. Thanks for that. I LOVE the challenge of this year…gotta be the hardest coaching task of Kerr’s career.

Anonymous

I know you just released a video on YT on Poole but I need your take on him rn. Good, bad, ugly. Go off on him bc I need to see if I’m crazy or does he seem kind of soft rn. You can feel it through the TV

Anonymous

Unc j.wise and joku for ad? What you think

Anonymous

The Lakers would be foolish if they accepted that Trade

Anonymous

If they blow it up (hypothetically) two young players and I’d say the warriors would have to include 1 or 2 firsts. Not terrible but they’d probably deny it

athleticalchemy

You got at least throw it in the trade machine to see what the salaries look like. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine

athleticalchemy

Point is the salaries aren’t even close.. now Klays…. One damaged asset for another. Nah nah I know we ain’t trading klay
