A couple months ago this would have been a silly question

May be unrealistic, kuminga and dray for siakam?

People really forgot what Kuminga did 2022 season. Hr looked better than Wiseman ever did in fewer games.

I am hopeful that “it” will click for JK and if that happens he’ll be a beast. It looks to me that Wiseman is putting some things together. I saw him turn Butler and then Adebayo away on one possession.

we lack the size so the team will want to invest more in wiseman

Anonymous

they both got to go... wise is still years out. Something missing in kuminga

Kerr needs to actually play Kuminga for us to legitimately answer this question

Also, Poole has to start taking his new contract more seriously.

I bet Kuminga wants to put Ty in a headlock and beat the shit out of his face with all the mins he’s getting lol

Kuminga has to develop 1 NBA level skill. Right now, he doesn't have that. He should have come into this year with a clearly improved post game. That's something he can just work on all summer, and he'd get 12 ppg on postups and he'd be on the floor. Wiseman has clearly been working hard, it shows in every aspect of his game. Kuminga doesn't look better than last year, to me.

Tough question, but we need a "Wiseman" more than we need a "Kuminga." In fact we've been needing a franchise type of a "Big Man" for the last 20 years. Versatile 7 footers have eluded the roster far too long. Hopefully Wiseman will turn out. I'd gamble on him.

I cringe whenever Wiseman is on the floor. He gets bullied by everyone

I keep Kuminga. You can't teach toughness, and you sure as hell can't teach hands. I am seeing progress from Wiseman, blocking out mainly but I'm still calling him Paddles because his hands are that horrible. And Wiseman just doesn't look like he has a feel for the game at all. Kuminga is going to get it, he's had less time on the floor than Wiseman and in another year and likely less he will be solid. I'll give u this Alch, at the moment this is a hell of a question.

I know it takes time for a big man to get going in the NBA but for a 2nd round pick, the hand holding is too much for Wiseman. You’d expect more from a 7 footer. Even if you get killed on the perimeter, the rim should be a no go area when you’re there (a la Turner, Gobert). There’s no flashes of GREATNESS or feel for the game for Wiseman. From 2nd to 3rd year, you start to know if a player has a feel for the game and Wiseman doesn’t. Let me ask y’all: How many games in did you know AD or Demarcus were great? Not very many I’ll tell you that

Ken Bradford

Yeah nobody talks about the lack of improvement on kumingas side. But then at least he can play on ball defense but offensively he’s kinda not figured out how to get his own

I’m not sure what the upside to wiseman is rn but I’ll tell you this. This year is his last chance. He could be riding our bench next year or on a different team entirely

Wiseman haven’t showed what a second round rookie should do(look at claxton) while kuminga proved successful last year on a champion team. If no ability displayed means talent, “potential”, wiseman is the option

I'll always bet on work ethic. Wiseman. However, I want him to be benched for now. He has a string of terrible games. These might affect his confidence. I want him to internalize his mistakes and reset. I wanna watch Kuminga show for sure until he had a bad stretch. Then switch then repeat.

Can't help myself- the trade machine works on: James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, Ty Jerome FOR Lauri Markannen and Jared Vanderbilt from the Jazz - would you do it? Arguably, Lauri and Vanderbilt would be a much better fit NOW but JK and JWise MIGHT have a higher ceiling long term. Given how the Jazz pieces are playing currently vs ours, we might need to even throw in a 2nd rounder, but doubt our front office would be interested in that. On paper it sounds like a good trade for both unless the Jazz want to keep their found synergy goin.

I think right now I put Kuminga ahead of Wiseman. Sad thing is tho it seems like Kuminga's whole confidence is shattered and he looks like a deer caught in headlights out there. This tough love thing may have worked on Poole but Kuminga needs encouragement rather than pulling him out of games when he makes 1 mistake followed by a string of DNPs, all the while Wiseman is being given multiple chances and has yet to make small incremental improvements.

LOL last one for now - trade machine accepts: Klay and Kuminga FOR KD and Seth Curry LMFAO

The emergence of Finals Wiggs is blocking Kuminga, especially with the idea that the minutes only allow one of these two to play through mistakes. At best, Kuminga finishes this year looking like Wiggins-lite. But a growing Wiseman offers dynamics to the team that no one else on the roster can. Just a bigger need for Wiseman to grow, in my opinion.

After the Orlando game, Kuminga.

Rob00

lol if you had waited just one more game, would have been like 80/20 kuminga

Alch I’ve got a serious question I hope you read this. Why doesn’t the staff let wiseman switch rather than drop back. Penny Hardaway used him as such in high school it’s the only way he’s played defense that’s why wiseman was playing the 4 rather than the 5 in high school so he could have the ability to roam around like a Robert Williams rather play the drop like Lopez. I’m not saying he’ll become elite because of it but he might be more effective and playable if they make that small tweak.
