Just got the news about wiseman possibly being out for the year...

Paul Hanson

really par for the course the way this season was going. I just hope he's back for some of summer league. Meniscus tears can be tricky. I hope it wasn't a complete tear. He really just needs experience-he was getting better.

Anonymous

Just got back to med school and since i live in Argentina and the warriors games end un finishing around 3am for me so i havent been watching the games lately so your my most reliable source to stay up to date with the dubs. That being said thank alch for still delivering on a sunday! Blessings to you and your family and stay safe!

Is it crazy to think Draymond is done? Like done done? Cuz his offense is unwatchable and even his defense has slipped significantly. I’m not sure you can have a major role when every night you’re playing strictly off basketball IQ and choosing four or five possessions in a game to lock in defensively

Anonymous

I didn’t know what to say when draymond air balled that floater I was just done😂

Ezra Abbey

watching dray offensively is like going to a stand up comedy show and just cringing at everything you see. I can barely watch him anymore its fucking embarrassing

Anonymous

Poor Poor Kid. Heart is breaking. I hope the Dubs stick by him.

If Wiseman is out are the Warriors going to get another 5, are they going to test Smailagic so as to make a decision on him, or punish us all with an anti-Don Nelson version of Steve Kerr small ball. More Steph & Poole together please.

Russ

Wow Dray just loves to chuck and hope for assist numbers, it's reminding me of Westbrook going for rebounds at Adams expense. He just waits out there on Green Island alone waiting for Steph to flash open. So predictable as 5 guys track Steph without Klay out there. You take Steph out of the offense and Dray is worthless. As I've said before without Steph on the floor creating free assists, Dray might average just as many turnovers as assists. Can we just get a high pick or a younger Big to replace him, does any team want him with his salary? Probably not.

John Pettus

Not only is is bad that Wise is gonna miss so much opportunity for development, bc next year we'll be in win-now mode, but it's REALLY bad for a big to have lower body injuries this early in their career.

Anonymous

I was going to be a bit snarkee about Warriors beating a G league team and John Wall, but jeez, that poor kid Wiseman. I havent been real happy bout us drafting him , but goodness, really ... poor guy cant seem to get a break, and I know the kid tries hard. Well he wont see this but best of luck to his recovery.

Nice to see Steph take and make 30-footers again. These are where his one-of-a-kind gravity comes from. Even disciplined defenses will be pulled out of their comfort zone. I don't understand why he's been mostly glued to the 3p line when he takes 3s after 2016. He's perfectly capable of making 40% of his 30-footers, and there are no good counterplays to that. The thing with Dray is that he thinks too high of himself and he can't back it up anymore. I believe he can still contribute on offense more than he currently does if he plays a different role, but will he eat his pride and do what's good for the team?

athleticalchemy

I agree.. there is a fine line between pride and ego. Maybe they are one in the same. Either way he has to recalibrate

John Pettus

We need Draymond to move into more of a veteran adviser role and start teaching our young guys about court vision, pushing pace and team defense. Let's start to shift some of his responsibilities to JuanT and JP.

I am pissed at myself for not being a Patreon member earlier. That "Watson" crack was pure gold. I am looking forward to when @athletic Alchemy drops a song clip on some of those spectacular plays, case and point that chase down block should have had Ludacris "get back mucdda fucka" song on it

Sam

Im done trying to justify Draymond's actions. Trade him now and get someone who can offer real depth. Im sure theres more willing and eager players who can contribute without being a liability overall

Anonymous

That watson line...💀...

Anonymous

25m/yr to be a teaching veteran?. Thats too much cap space

I'm starting to aquire some of Alch's pessimistic views of this season. Having trouble with one of the worst teams......not good...

Branden Edwards

I know medical staff isn't going to prevent injuries that happen from awkward contact and one legged landings, but just for optic's sake we need to replace the whole department this off-season

Natto Santo

Poor Wiseman and torn meniscus is not just a season ending injury. it is something gonna linger too. With his height and weight, he is not going to last long. Best case he will be a good players for 4 to 5 years.

Branden Edwards

Meniscus tears usually don't have lasting effects. Kelly tore his MCL last season but you wouldn't know it by watching hi. Kristaps tore his MCL last season and only missed a little more than a month

Anonymous

True sort of a freak injury, but the medical staff can teach proper landing mechanics, although in that situation im not sure what else wiseman could of done.

Anonymous

I mean I only wanted to make the playoffs this year so Wiseman could get that expirence, but after the news we got, it should be full on tank mode.

Anonymous

Alc what u think about dray for Zach Collins and Simons

Anonymous

Alc you hit the nail on the head on Wiggins open 3s, he shoots them like free throws, especially the one you highlighted and we know he's hit or miss from the foul line!

Jimmy Ji

It's sad to lose Wiseman for the remainder of the season, I really would've liked to see him develop more especially after a positive couple of games. A torn meniscus is a pretty common injury in the current NBA and its the same injury that Zion suffered back in 2019. I remember when you compared Wiseman to the Big Ticket in one of your earlier draft videos. If Bob Meyers is smart, he will bring in KG this coming offseason and give him the player development role that Steve Nash once had. KG even openly stated in a NYT interview that he believes he could help develop Wiseman's game. Let's not forget KG was also a one time DPOY when he won his lone championship with the Celtics. I would say at this point, Wiseman needs a lot more work on the defensive end and I don't think Draymond is the right type of mentor for James on the defensive end because he doesn't have the size and athleticism that James has. He needs to learn more about defensive positioning and how to use his size in the paint to alter shots without fouling.

Anonymous

Kerr always play Draymond with Steph but I would like to see him more with the 2nd unit and have someone like Wiggins handle the ball when Steph is moving off ball. We're gonna need another playmaker tha can replace Draymond and can also shoot.

Anonymous

Mann I'm to the point where I can stand to see dray on the court for much more than 20 minutes. Split his fuckin minutes with JTA. He's not as flashy or as solid defensively, but he sure as shit doesn't make the types of dumbass mistakes that dray does. Draymond needs his ass shipped all the way out of town this off season. I feel like secretly steph and klay would love to see it. Anyways this seasons been a wash and it keeps gettin worse. Call the Jesup kid up, start Smiley, and bench steph the rest of the season. Its a wrap.

Anonymous

lowkey i feel like klay and steph hate how draymond has been doing this 'brother' thing with lebron james

Anonymous

This offseason warriors must trade wiseman, who has next to no value now after the injury, he wont get anther 'training year" opportunity from the warriors. Then, they must get rid of draymond and kerr. Draymond is self-explanatory, as for kerr, we don't need a 'better' coach, just someone who does things differently, at the end of the day, draymond and kerr are the same package. Honestly they should also get rid of wiggins, who is a disaster when it comes to consistency and focus. Use these cap space to sign/trade for win-now veterans to build around the splashbrothers.

Anonymous

Dray for Myles Turner Wiseman for Saddiq Bey Oubre for Derozan. Obviously clean the Cupboard too. Looney, Lee, Bazemore, Mulder, EP and smiley can all hit the bricks. Wiggins I'm on the fence about but if the right offer came along I would pull the trigger without question. Of the young players I'd only want to keep JTA and Nico and maybe Poole.

Jansen E

Wiseman attempts only his second one-handed dunk of his career and it damn near couldve ended his career. Unreal how unlucky this team is. Their prized and most valuable asset to the FUTURE of this franchise (as Curry is the present) could now be entirely jeopardized. A man of his size and athleticism coming back from a meniscus tear??? Flip of the coin whether he can continue on or become the next Greg Oden. I dont even know what to say really. Yay Steph had another 30 piece?....Draymond just flat out sucks now. Im annoyed when hes on the court. His assist-hunting is bad. He cant do a single thing else that helps the team besides set screens and call out defensive assignments. Short of setting screens, he could just do the second thing from the sideline as an assistant coach. Why did Payton Jr. not get more minutes? Why did Smiley not get any minutes? Nico? No? Does Steve Kerr just like having pieces and doing nothing with them? Why is Steph even playing the rest of this season.

Anonymous

Ooooomg, when Draymond vomited up that air-ball floater >_< that was embarrassing AF. I'm still hoping for playoff Draymond showing up. 10:03 in the video...it looks like D.J. Augustin PUNCHES Poole when he's on the ground.

This season a wrap dawg all dray been for the last three seasons is assist hunt and now it’s it’s effecting the the squad don’t get me wrong I know he’s the glue for steph bt it’s only because they been playing together for years and I used to blame to Kerr for wisemen not proposer bt I’m starting to believe it’s dray he makes so many mistakes on and off the court it’s time to trade him bt what is his real value in the in the league if leaves he could bt someone no team trades for and end up getting a buyout and play for either the nets or the lakers YO AC WE NEED A TRADE VIDEO FOR DRAYMOND ILL LIKE TO HEAR YOUR TAKE ON THE SITUATION. Idk what we should do at the this point shits been to crazy these last few seasons and steph and klay both deserve to win bt as far this season I think it’s take to start tanking the league ain’t giving steph the mvp this because of the record and now wisemen should just sit out the reminder of this season before he gets hurt even worse let’s just get two high draft picks reevaluate the team I say trade everyone bt steph klay and wisemen and gets some vets and some high Iq players like I like Poole bt he seems like a great trade piece cause ain’t no one checking for pascall nor looney or Kelly let’s pack it up and Kerr needs better assistance on the bench and let’s be honest how good of a job has bob myers done he didn’t draft steph or klay and looking at the draft in this current moment lamelo would have been a easy fit to the warriors system you can always find a big in free agency he traded kd when we didn’t have to we could have locked him with that deal and backed out the trade him and klay could of rested and traded draymond for a stretch five and been Gucci bt now look at us we killing steph out there every night we running the risk of hurting our best star I like Wiggins bt he turn into hellen Keller at the free throw line he’s too streaky you know never know what you going to get out of him and Damien Lee playing for a contract he think he klay and far from it we should went and got Gary Trent jr to come off the bench he better than all of our bench players come on dawg shit gotta stop

How about a full stop or a comma somewhere in the wall of text?

i feel your pain. it's a shit show top to bottom. that's why I'm as Suns fan too! Here's an interesting perspective on Wiseman's injury: https://www.sfchronicle.com/sports/ostler/article/Wiseman-s-injury-could-be-a-sanity-break-for-16093117.php

Interesting take on Wiseman Injury in the Chronicle - a "sanity break" for Dubs? https://www.sfchronicle.com/sports/ostler/article/Wiseman-s-injury-could-be-a-sanity-break-for-16093117.php

Injuries determine championships. T'was ever thus. Nothing really new going on here with the Wiseman injury. Question is: how to deal with it. Same as it ever was: you keep the best pieces, lose the rest. There are only three pieces worth keeping: Steph, Klay and Wiseman. Everything else must be negotiable. But for now: DO NOTHING. Play the shit out of your other pieces in case any of them proves valuable (I suspect it may be Nico, possibly Poole, possibly Paschall, but none of these is sacred). Do your best to TANK and get the best draft. Then wait til next season and see what you've got. Don't expect a chip next season either. Wiseman can't rise that fast. Chill. Chill. Oh, and, THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE: MOVE KERR. Because Kerr has no clue how to do any of the things recommended above: judge talent, manage rotations, motivate players, formulate strategy, ad infinitum. The dude was brought in to manage thoroughbreds. These are mongrels now.

Anonymous

If you're going to move kerr, you might as well move Stephen klay too. You're in full rebuild mode. Kerr is a championship level coach. But it took marc jackson to build this team.

Anonymous

So if Kerr has to go, who do the Warriors hire to replace him? Is it a fire sale and the training staff goes too? How far does the clearance go? Meyers' job on the line? Alch can you address one of or any of these questions on The Hezi? Love your work
