Damn this game was frustrating man

Warriors have to get bazemore off this team. He is a playoff disaster waiting to happen. I also believe he is a reason for the team's general foul trouble. Young players kinda like to emulate vets. When baze is your vet, all he tells those kids is to be aggressive on defense and so rolls in the fouls.

Ezra Abbey

i was watching some clips from the 15-16 season a few days ago and dray's athleticism jumped off the camera, he was making all types of layups and was way bouncier and quicker. the dude has definitely lost a step and is just a complete liability on the offensive end. teams give him no respect, on some ben simmons shit and our team doesn't have enough spacing/offensive power so everything's just clogged up. either he somehow finds a way to be more of a threat on offense or something has got to change.

Anonymous

What do you think about the dubs, according to Bogut the Rouge Bouges Podcast, not taking Lonzo and a pick for Oubre

Anonymous

I believe steph and dray dynamic is beginning to be like kd and russ dynamic. Steph needs to get away from dray because he is killing steph's game. If this season has taught us anything, its that steph doesnt need dray to get his points while dray needs steph to be relevant.im not sure any sane GM wants that dray contract

This game made my stomach turn. Really starting to think that even when klay comes back we aren’t gonna be shit.

Anonymous

Dame & CJ want Dray...they feel they are just as great as the splash bros & that Dray is their missing piece.

Anonymous

too much dysfunction in the organization presently and its completely affected the team... there's no singular message. We want to make playoffs, yet not chasing wins/trying to develop, yet not playing Wise. I'm hopeful for a run but I'm thinking the roller coaster continues. Perhaps the Pels and the Kings keep losing too and we fall into the play-in...

Anonymous

I think curry is done with the season...the reality check was that Toronto game...when nothing is working, you still have to play with some pride...that game was disturbing to say the least...The eyes of the org are on kerr and myers the rest of the season...What player improved during the season under kerr? What kind of team myers envisioned at the start of the season? All i see is a big mess of different expectations and goals...My take is when you have one of the best player in the world...you are doomed to compete...Go all in at every moment...they thought the klay injury would give them an excuse for this season...but Curry is on par with Lebron in terms of expectations....some are delusional....but the fans don’t want to hear that side...i hope the curry-wiseman dynamic isn’t the same as the wade-whiteside in miami 😔....

Anonymous

Hey Alch, I keep wondering at this point isn't it better to just rest Steph & Dray and tank for the pick? What's the reasoning behind getting into the play-ins, which we not gonna pass or getting swept in first round even if we do.

Anonymous

Shittiest coaching I’ve ever seen. The guys played hard. Shudda won. Again and again it’s obvious: Kerr is clueless.

Anonymous

There is no run coming as long as Poole plays significant minutes at the point especially considering Poole has shit the bed on both ends the last two games, 6/25 shooting and defense so bad he's able to foul his guy and injure both himself and the opponent he was "theoretically" guarding at the same time (against Toronto). Bazemore was bad last night he deserves the criticism, but Poole as well and his closeouts last night were not even high school level fundamentals (go fast and low/patter step to control/shooting hand side/hand up but don't jump). Poole will never be able to defend....he's not the only one, but then you can't shoot 6/25, and score inconsistently. I would honestly ask who is a worse defender than Poole, maybe Mulder but if Mulder went 6/25 he would see the bench. All while Nico who's minutes can only come at the point position, sits and waits, call me crazy I don't get it.

Ken Bradford

I still believe in this era Kerr has a place on the team as a guru mentor blah blah but he needs a real ball head on his staff. It always seems like the coaches are like a month behind everyone else in terms of adjustments etc

I want to specifically focus on Wiseman and the front office. Look to the RAPTOR- 538 rating for NBA players and hit the dropdown for rookies. LeMelo is pretty much top list, and Wiseman, very bottom for ALL rookies. I can maybe see how front office cant do well with previous drafts, but this year you had the number 2 choice and you chose the worst rookie in the draft! and passed on probable rookie of the year! I mean Timme is so much more evolved than wiseman right now. Im not saying Wiseman is bust yet, he has drive. But it will depend on the coaching he gets and what he focuses on. But I'm not hopeful. Most coaches are from a basketball lineage and not basketball/cutting edge neuro/science, and how exceptional athletes become exceptional; ie focusing on perfection of weak links in game/moves, combining perfected neurological engrams, etc. But more to the point. This front office has been suspect in my eyes for years now, post Jerry West. The draft has been evidence that the front office doesn't know real talent. This years draft was the chance to prove me wrong. I had LeMelo at the top of my list, but was not privy to personal interview, metrics, tape of his games, etc. Myers and Co were and they chose the incorrectly with a rare pick. Trade Myers and Oubre to Denver for their front office.

What happened to wiseman? Was he hurt?

Anonymous

yeah, agree ,seems like most comments on this forum are at least a prescient month ahead of staff, that is concerning... if you are a fan, which I am becoming less and less of in regards to this organization

Jansen E

thats exactly it tbh. theres this delusion with some dubs fans that Klay returning will magically fix all these problems. we got major problems all over the roster and klay coming back will just put lipstick on a pig.

Gsw4L

We were champions because most of our players could do two out of three (shoot, pass, defend). Right now we have only three players who are able to do that: Curry, Wiggs and Draymond. Other players are liability and not part of "warrior system". Another thing is this is wrong team for developing Weisman. Just look how OKC is developing Pokushevski who is youngest player in NBA. In two years he will become a star. 7 footer can do it all

Anonymous

Check it: Poole plays bad under Kerr last year. Poole plays bad under Kerr this year. Poole goes to G League, totally Rocks it. Comes back, rocks his first few games, but soon now that he's back under Kerr, no confidence, no consistency, no minutes. Just Frustration. Like all the other players. See a Pattern? Why is KO great one day, crap the next? Why was EP a great rookie but now nowhere to be seen? Kerr destroys careers. Only Steph matters. I actually think the others play worse when he's on the court - they're afraid to shoot - always looking for him, they lose their agressivness, too much worry they won't make the "smart basketball play." We have to stop focusing on the players. It's the Coach. It's the coach. It's the coach..... broken record....

Anonymous

I just love how this comment section is day and night depending on the outcome of the game, can't wait for that discord.

Anonymous

nah bro its true. If we giving grades at this point in the season Steve Kerr is D+/C- range... He's not been good. Timeouts, rotations, minutes managements, words given to the media... Hasn't been great. Let's keep it 100.

Anonymous

Poole is 21 bro... And he offers so much more than Mulder on the offensive end. Mulder has one ability offensively, and can hardly get that right. I'm not a blind poole apologist but it speaks to the state of the roster when you're relying so heavily on the young guys. It's not a recipe for winning in this league.

Anonymous

I honestly think the Warriors should have picked up Kenny Atkinson as an assistant coach. He did an amazing job in developing those boys back in the day. I think he’s like an assistant coach with the Clippers now.

Anonymous

Are we playing for anything in the regular season? If the kings and pels both want the pick more than the play in slot, aren’t we essentially locked into 10th?

Anonymous

The team is trash at this point and sadly they are in no mans land it's probably too late in the season to really tank and get a good shot at 2 high draft picks. It's also clear that even winning a play in game will be unlikely let alone making any playoff round anything but a gentleman sweep at best for the opposition. The roster is bad, the coaching is bad, the front office has been bad. Before the off season they need to seriously decide whether they have a legit plan to contend in the final good years of the core 3 players or bite the bullet now and start a full rebuild from top to bottom.

John Pettus

Man, a lot of people think they know basketball better than one of the winningest coaches in NBA history. Our 2nd star is out for the season. We have a ton of young talent that needs to improve and a shortened / rushed season with few practices. This ain't our year, but that's OK as long as we're competing and building. Let's get KO to learn the system and the passing culture. Teach Poole defense. Teach Wiggins to tighten the handle. Teach Wiseman everything. We'll be dangerous next year.

Anonymous

They freaking botched the Wiseman pick bad. Imagine getting Lamelo, not getting Oubre, and getting a vet big like Dwight Howard instead? We get rebounds, get a shooter in Lamelo, a backup pg. We probably would have money leftover to sign another vet as well. Just a horrendous pick, one of the worst you could possibly hope for. Sure Wiseman might be good in 4-5 years but who freaking cares right now. Blame has to go to the front office. Now there are rumors they could've traded Lonzo for Oubre and they Declined?? What?

Anonymous

I think I'm with you, I want to see Loon jack up 6-8 shots a game, maybe 1-2 of those be 3s fuck it. Lol whats the harm in that. It almost seems like he was told he's not allowed to shoot. Also, idk if draymond can stay on this team. If he was on a cheaper deal I'd slide him to the bench. I think his negatives definitely outweigh his positives currently, but with klay back maybe it'd be different.

Anonymous

When alch showed that pic with draymond on the perimeter literally by himself was just crazy, think about it the dubs are literally playing 4 on 5 atm.. Fuck it come off season trade everybody but the splash bros idgf there's enough pieces to build another dynasty around them..

Paul Hanson

OK-that was a bad weekend-but this is the Golden State Warriors this year. They are not good enough. In fact-they aren't that far from being a bad team-for a number of reasons, not because of just one thing. First off: #1: Wiseman. There's absolutely no way in hell that expectations for James Wiseman should be anything but him being a few years away from a legit NBA center. Playing as little competitive basketball as he has-there's no way he can be expected to be anything but what he's been. He needs a summer league and a full training camp. At least. Maybe he shouldn't be playing that much at all if it's going to damage his confidence to get destroyed on defense or on the block. Selling him as some sort of savior to the franchise was and is TOTALLY WRONG. Bigs take longer than guards and it might take him even longer than that given his lack of experience. I'd love to ask his elite trainer David Alexander-who of course said Wiseman would be Rookie of the Year-what is up with his weakness down on the block? He gets moved out of there faster than UHaul or Bekins. #2: No other bigs. Uncle Alch said what I've been thinking for years about this team-well, since David West and Jordan Bell left-where are the bigs? Where are the forwards of 6 foot 9 and above who can actually defend without fouling because they are the same size of the players they are defending? Damion Lee and J Poole getting roasted-Bazemore getting broasted-it's all the same to me-it SUCKS. They just can't measure up-not because of effort but because of size. If they aren't hitting 35% of their 3s and 45% of their outside shots-they don't add too much to this team. Because defensively they are liabilities. #3: Back to the center position. I know Marquese Chriss would have been perfect on this team if he hadn't broken his dang leg. They really, really miss that big presence in the paint and vertically-and he could have shown Wiseman a few things. I don't have any idea why the Dubs didn't go and get another FO center to at least show J Wise a few things. Looney is a completely different type of player with no verticality and a lot of savvy-but he can't show Wiseman anything that Wiseman can mimic because Looney is as un-athletic as Wiseman is athletic. #4: Wiggins needs to get rest when he isn't playing well-he played in every game and needed a break before All-Star break-he's played very well since then. Still not sure if he can ever get emotional and really charged up the way you'd like him to be-like Oubre but with way more talent. #5: Finally-the elephant in the arena. How in hell can this team affort $45 mill to Steph, $35 mill to Klay (that's $80 mill already) , $25 mill to Draymond (now up to $105 mill-$3 mill under the salary cap) and expect to hae enough for a whole squad? Look at what the 2014-15 Warriors had to deal with-nothing like this situation. That's the biggest thing. Someone's got to go in order to address the lack of talent on this roster. I love this team no matter what but now's the time to pay the piper for all the amazing times the fan base had last decade.

Interesting stat breakdown on Reddit of how this is the worst team in the lesgue without Steph: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/mkv0u5/the_2021_warriors_are_the_worst_team_in_the_nba/

John Z

I saw drop coverage in the beginning and I had hope for a sec that Kerr might not be so switch heavy but damn nothing seems to change. Lol the shots Curry takes versus Draymond is just pathetic, Dray can't be a liability for TOs on the offensive end when he eats up so much space.

Anonymous

Wiseman best start to a game for ages and doesnt come back in during the second... WTF

Anonymous

Find the best player available we can get for Dray + the Minni pick Hire a new coaching staff and go into the off-season ready to retool

Anonymous

Only watch the first half, but man Kerr really aint helping Wiseman at all is he, played great that first quarter then punishes him by not playing him in the second??? Saw the box score, and he didnt score in the 2nd half and im not surprised if u sit him for that long. But at the same time this fire Kerr stuff needs to be cut out

Anonymous

Can Poole be a smaller Jamal Murray? His layups since the G-League really giving me bubble Murray vibes to me.

Anonymous

Andrew Bogut says the Warriors rejected a Lonzo Ball/Kelly Oubre swap. I’m kind of mad about that. https://streamable.com/zkqfnf

Anonymous

Damn, these comment threads are getting as toxic as Warriors twitter for the blame-storming around Kerr / FO / Oubre / Dray / Wiseman / Poole. Sure, its frustrating when we lose and go on bad runs - but everyone throws out context and has goldfish-like memories based on the last performance. Draymond is getting older, slower and has always been ignored on offense. Poole was never going to carry the second unit and not give it back on the defensive end. Wiseman is a big with next-to-no experience. Oubre is a high-effort, low-IQ NBA player - he reacts, he doesn't see the game before it happens. Kerr is a poor player developer and a poor in-game coach. These are flaws that we all (should) know and yet most seem apoplectic when they come to fruition. This is the team we have. It is not our right to dominate the league indefinitely. Front offices make good decisions and bad decisions. Players come in and out of form. We are a 500-ball-club without Klay with little championship experience outside of Steph and Draymond. We don't know how to win consistently as a team. Expecting better performances and hoping for them are two different things. My take on Kerr - I think he is a poor coach when the team is low-IQ and heavy on young or average players. He is not a coach that will motivate them or coach them to scratch out wins consistently. You know how players can be floor-raisers or ceiling raisers? I think coaches can be viewed the same way, and Kerr is ceiling-raiser for very good teams (which is not as easy as it sounds - plenty of coaches have had talented rosters and not got them to strike a balance between letting them cook and still buy in to playing unselfishly as a team, and to play team defense). His principles and style will give teams that extra 5-10% when they are championship contenders. I think he is a big part of the reason that Warriors consistently emerged victorious in playoff series against Portland / Houston, through various injuries to Steph / KD etc. If he is a floor-raiser coach, he let's Steph run PnR most of the game - they have little to fall back on in terms of teammates impacting the game. Systems that involve the whole team on most possessions work if you look back over 30 years of NBA champions. Kerr empowers players to read-and-react. This isn't Portland or Houston or a LeBron team where you check your brain in when step on the floor and go stand in the corner. Kerr demands decision-making from his teams. This works when you have S-Dot, Andre, Bogut. Not so much with Oubre, Wiseman and Poole. This is obvious, but here's my point. I don't care about floor-raisers where our ceiling is getting toasted in the first round of the playoffs. Calling for him to be fired for what he's doing this season is short-sighted because this isn't the season we care about wins. We aren't winning the title, so I don't care about play-ins or first round losses. I would rather see if we can have one more run a title with Kerr's system. Use this season to see how many of the young players can survive the sink-or-swim test (JTA, maybe Nico) and then adjust the roster in the off-season. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Fire Kerr and start over - he is not suited to coaching a mediocre team. But he's still our best realistic shot a title, however thin the margin is. If Oubre, Wiseman and Draymond are as flawed as fans are ranting about, we won't get much in terms of trade value and we weren't winning a title with them anyway.

athleticalchemy

Well said Paul.. it does feel like it’s pay back time in a way. I think the key may be to blow it up sooner rather than later.

athleticalchemy

That’s a brilliant take on Kerr.. I think a lot of people just generalize coaching. They have skill sets too. Styles strength weakness and need the right fit. Remember Larry Brown use to build young teams up and then bolt for a new project. Kerr might need to be the opposite.

Natto Santo

Wiseman has a good game, his jump shot is alright, not excellent though but shooting more stable open shot will help. Let's not compare him to KG or Bosh any more. Not an All star talent. But he can be a starter in this league but he needs to work on his AQ.

Bailey

"He pushes a shopping cart into the arena." lol They made the mistake of focusing on integrating Wiseman into the starting lineup. From the beginning of the season - put him in the 4th and let him slow cook for a few months. Keep in mind we had Marquese then. Focus on cultivating chemistry and strengthen scoring from everyone else. Doesn't matter anymore.

Anonymous

Currently split with Sacramento and play them one more time at chase 3 weeks from now, should be a win. Play the pelicans 3 times in 2 weeks about a month from now, and OKC is clearly tanking. Basically impossible to miss the play in tourney.

Anonymous

LaMelo would not have solved our issues. James can solve our issues if he gets near the rim when the ball is falling off of it. Is he really going to get called for a foul trying to jockey for position? Bc it seems like he is content to not go inside when the shot is up.

Jerry Heverly

The objective is to win NEXT YEAR. Kerr is the perfect coach for a young team, patient, encouraging, not the loud mouth bully that so many NBA 'greats' are/were. The Warriors would have won this one if Poole had shot his average. I don't get why Wiseman isn't playing more minutes, both to aid his development and because of the problems he creates for other bigs. To my eye he seemed to be dominating Capella, but maybe there are things I'm missing.

Anonymous

I think the league has caught up to the past formula for success. You cant win on just long wing players and the motion offense. The three ball still remains supreme but great teams have to have a solid inside out game and bigs that can pass as well as crush the glass and hit the three - we definitely do not have that as J Wise is at least a year or two away from figuring things out. Kerr and the FO have tried to replace smart vet wings with energy and athleticism and the result is more often than not getting punked out.

Anonymous

i could have won with KD, Curry, Thompson and prime Dray...

Anonymous

This is pretty obvious when you see the team without Steph, but a good tell for those homers out in the world that want to believe otherwise, (that the Warriors are dominate team with some fixable issues). Also as I suggested in my comment above, look to RAPTOR ratings of individual players on team; we arent good. I think this is more on the front office and Myers than on Kerr and CO. I just think we are not getting the right players since Jerry West has left. I think the front office is way more important than most people realize. Thanks for link, a good Reddit and thread there!

Anonymous

As long as he stick rigidly to the motion offense which thrives on read and react high IQ guys then no he is anything but the perfect coach for a young team. He may be patient on a personal level but schematically he's asking far too much from those same young guys.

Anonymous

What defensive minded big bodied 4s that can score - even if not from 3 are going to be available to the dubs this off season? We are losing seemingly from the lack of a post up big who’s defensive presence means the guards can ...guard (as opposed to help d)

John Z

The madman finally did it!

Anonymous

No one really, i think olynic might get bought out by houston.. 2 roster spots but yeah no one signed! Dubs falling years behind everyone else in the league!

Anonymous

Finally had the interest to watch the last breakdowns of the last 3 losses after the Bucks win. LMAO. Kerr should sit and let Mike coach. Should have put Looney in there in the last 5 or 3 minutes.
