The Warriors giving out career highs to players like charity

Anonymous

I've got to hand it to you for reliving that game. Good insights.

Anonymous

I'm not worried about Wiseman's offense at all, guy has great touch. Big issues are defense and rebounding... Most importantly the mental makeup...yikes

Anonymous

I appreciate your sober and measured takes on this game and generally with the direction the Warriors are trending without Steph in the lineup. Both the collective and individual effort on defense the last few games has been nothing short of pathetic and that's both in the IQ and the effort department..... A lot of proforma close outs and little hustling back on defense. Still maybe there's some silver lining with Wigs being the Alpha for a short few games.

Anonymous

Big guys, little guys, up and coming players, unknown bench players all are welcomed in a spirit of generosity.

Anonymous

the broken glass effect you talked about is very concerning. You wouldn't expect to see this kind of things from an organization like this. I have seen some reports about tension within the organization in regards to Wiseman, and maybe this shows that they don't see him fitting in with their future plans for the organization.

My wiseman worry is 0/10. He’s trying to play against the best in the world but he hasn’t got any mechanics or body mass and he knows it. I’d like to see him perfect his body first and foremost. One offseason is all a guy with his build should need to get there. When you’re that big and strong enough to hold your own, you can get away with mental lapses and mechanical imperfection for the time being, and he can work on his skills going forward. Looking forward to all the tanktreon breakdowns to come💪. Nico our first true point guard in a while and I can’t lie man he’s exciting.

Anonymous

I don't understand why Mulder keeps getting beat like a deer with 2 legs on these drives, when his one way speed was measured at Fox level and laterally he shouldn't be this bad.

Anonymous

Time to tank 😂

Anonymous

Yo, "still playing LEGOS." LMFAO Gonna be a good fight tonight. I like how you blended that in there. I'm taking Stipe. Just think he has the experience but we all know it just takes one with the Pred.

Anonymous

My sense is that after saying that 6 game stretch against playoff teams was going to be the season barometer, and they go 1-5 in that stretch, the team is lowkey packing it in now. They haven't said it to the media or anything, but feels like we're in last season mode of developing the young guys and not worrying about wins.

Anonymous

I'm also with you on the tank vibe. We might as well develop players to either keep or flip for next season. I think they were down with being in the playoffs if Steph and Dray were healthy to get playoff experience for anyone sticking around for next year. At this point, with no trades and no longer being a destination for buyouts, might as well start scheming for Klay's return. AND YES, let's flip Dray, who does have value around the league for other contenders.

athleticalchemy

If I was working with him.. I would shut that step back stuff down immediately! There is no need at that size

athleticalchemy

Well said! I’m not sure it will be this offseason or the next. But at some point there will be that “ have you seen Wiseman?!” 👀 Take that everybody will have

athleticalchemy

Yeah I wouldn’t bet against him. Got to pay him that respect. I think the UFC has made sure the right guys have been training Francis. He could be such a cash cow for them

Russ

My guess is they shopped Paddles Wiseman and had no takers. If you watch him closely his hands almost can not catch a pass unless it's a floater, soft as a Butterfly be it a lob or other. Almost everything else he will hit at it and try to slow it down then regather it as the ball stays still. I've not seen hands this bad before in the NBA. Can't wait for Weds. when he's 20 and we can stop saying, "yeah he sucks but he's only 19". I'm so looking forward to "yeah he sucks but he's only 20". You can't teach hands, it's like teaching height, speed or smarts.

David A.

I haven't been vocal about it because I probably don't want to be flamed but I been off Dray since last season. Does he even like playing basketball (specifically) anymore or does he just need a competitive outlet? You wonder if some dudes should go all in on golf or poker or racehorses something. Or maybe just go out on top and get into coaching. Also. I'm sure I don't know what the F I'm talking about but I continue to enjoy your work, sir!

Jansen E

"If only the fans were back" - Warriors commentators, front office, coaches, and players. OHHHhhhhh the fans? Why should we pay WAY too much to enter an overpriced arena to watch effort like this? That whole game felt slow and as if they came out there ready to lose. I know this whole season has been up and down but mostly a wash. But do they expect us to pay to go see performances like this in person? I've never seen a more unimpressive 38 pts from one player. It was too easy but also just felt like it totally didnt matter. Like Collins couldve not even played and the score wouldve been the same. Thats how that game felt. I am okay with them shutting Steph down. I wanted that. But I wish they would stop being a bitch about it and just SAY it. Admit they are shutting him down rather than say "oh just a few more days, he'll be back dont worry". Quit playing like that. Its not cute and its a waste of our (the fans) time for us to hold out hope that we get to see him again. Allow us to adjust our expectations at least. But if youre gonna shut Steph down, shut Draymond down too. I dont need to see him out there like last night.

athleticalchemy

Idk I don’t think there that bad..I agree hands are mostly innate. The reality is he could be 3 or 4 years away. But in these times he will be labeled a bust if he doesn’t show up looking like Shaq in a October

Anonymous

Great vid and I'm curious what you think Poole's ceiling could be. Given his measurables and rate of improvement is CJ Mccollum too far a reach. Just looking at Poole's stats after his G league stint is extremely similar to CJs third year leap

Jerry Heverly

Without watching the Warriors on defense you get a somewhat misleading idea of how bad they played. The big enemy now is impatience. Wiseman with one or two more years and 50 more pounds will be one of the best big men in the league. Imagine a franchise that went from 1976 till 2012 without a big man in the top 15 in the league; that was the Warriors. They had Hardaway, Mullins, and Richmond, and couldn't make the playoffs because the center position was such a wasteland. They need Wiseman and they need patience.

athleticalchemy

No Im with you... for me its like I know in the back of my mind he is going to be here. So I try not to harp on it. But too me its very clear he doesn't put in the work.

athleticalchemy

Thanks. I think he can be a very good 3rd guard. He is a little to small, not enough length to be the defender you would want him to be as a starter. Id say Terrence Ross, Jordan Clarkson caliber

athleticalchemy

Well put.. patience can be subjective tho. to some its next season. JW with 50 more lbs is probably 4- 5 years out

Anonymous

Love the sound analysis Alch! Thoughts on a Steph-Klay-Oubre-Wiggins-Wiseman lineup without Dray? Your comments about Dray got me thinking

athleticalchemy

Appreciate it... I think maybe if JW was 23-24 and much stronger you could get away with it. But next year asking wig and or Oub to guard 4s every night would be tough.

Anonymous

been said it, we going for the tank, makes no sense to take an injured team to the playoffs

Anonymous

I think we miss the play in game. The thing that is probably more important is that it looks like Draymond played through some symptoms of taking the Vaccine, meaning he played sick bc he wanted to get Wiseman's confidence and save Kerr's skin from more slander. Turns out it didn't work and now the team has completely lost interest in Kerr. If Steph is the reason why this team has been awful defensively these past few games....that is not a schematic thing and more so a "broken window" thing.

Anonymous

To your last point, I wouldn't say he's healthy since there was still inflammation in the tailbone when he did the x-rays, but I've had a feeling once they choked in Portland and sat out Steph and Dray in Phoenix that this was operation stealth tank. Sidenote: Kerr is a bozo for making Dray play sick while limiting JTA's minutes. Strong Emotional Intelligence my ass, that dude was being selfish to not get roasted even more and it backfired.

Qiushi Hu

Everybody eats against Wiseman, there is no rim protection yet. Hope he improve fast

Anonymous

Kerr is pretty inflexible with this system b.s. He refuses to play to ppl's strength in favor of playing the "right way". Trying to make Jordan Poole Klay Thompson last year and now Steph's fill in is beyond dumb. Draymond makes everyone an off the ball player but the shooting and gravity is not there without steph and klay hence the #26th rated offense. I get that they/we are waiting for Klay but there has to be some level of flexibility. But hey, we ain't chasing wins. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Anonymous

Bigs and smalls. Everybody! We better get a vet big man next szn

Anonymous

Ever since Draymond claimed he was the GOAT defender, his defense has been horrendous. IMO, Kerr has to go. Seems like whenever Steph is out, there is no scheme. I have no idea how you’re not just letting Wiseman get his reps in at this point. He clearly isn’t trying to win the games.

John Z

We need to simplify our offensives actions and defensive scheme. Why does Wiseman need a pin down screen for a 3? They aren't gonna guard him lol. We just have some much extra fluff. Great breakdown as always.

Anonymous

Hey, Alch, how do you think they can move Dray? He's getting worse and his contract is getting bigger, I believe?

Anonymous

The tank is on and not before time too. I guess that explains why Bob's aggression at the deadline proved to be nothing at all. As for Dray I thought it was pretty well established for a few seasons that he really only bothers to show up and put in the work come play off time. Given the projection for the rest of this season I would say sit him and Steph as much as possible and gauge the trade market. If they are confident that can really make some aggressive trades with Klay back next season to make a serious title push then keep him. If not ship his ass and start rebuilding.

Anonymous

They seem kinda content with the 10th seed, get themselves one or two high-pressure games during which Draymond might actually give some effort and the young guys feel the intensity of playoff basketball. They know they don’t have enough for even a second round exit, but I’d be surprised if they want to tank aggressively with this play-in and shortened season. Too many competitors out there/in the front office

Anonymous

Bruh.. Kerr has to go after five straight finals?? Gtfoh.

Anonymous

As somebody that works in the field of psych, Wiseman's body language is terrible. I'm sure the W's have way smarter people than me working on the mental side of players' games, but I wonder what they're telling him. Body language and mindset are a huge part of sports, particularly at this level where edges are so slight. I'd almost have Draymond's BS than whatever tf Wiseman is doing.

Anonymous

Ik Draymond's probably been one of the more frustrating players to watch but I lk think his mindset is sort of like what Alch said about the young guys' mindset at the end here. He's prob not trying or feeling all that concerned bc he might know on some level that this season is a wash (this probably compounds with Steph being out too). Maybe this is just wishful thinking but I feel like he'll turn up his conditioning and competitiveness once Klay is back and there are at least some expectations that we're a competitive team. Also idk if it's too early for this but what do y'all think our moves in the offseason should be? Do we go big-game hunting for a Kawhi or Jrue Holiday type somehow or do we just tinker around the edges and get rid of Bazemore or Loon and get a vet big?

Anonymous

Can somebody tell me why Wiseman can't even do1 solid screen for others? He just fake screens, roll to the basket and point his finger in the air for the ally hoop everytime. Truly distrubing.

Russ

He doesn't like contact. Actively runs from it, Paddles is so soft right now I think NBA players hurt him on screens. But he turns 20 on Weds., after that all will be OK..... And I'll add that our guys know he can't catch so they aren't lobbing or pocket passing to him nearly as much anymore.

Anonymous

it more than just his body, it got all the way into his head!~

Anonymous

On the Wiseman struggles, I am not too worried. Bigs take time to develop and he has very little experience. He shows glimpses and has a nice touch. Here are my two issues - 1. I want to see more effort. Alch talks about the difference between Lamelo and Lonzo..... I am seeing Lonzo’s attitude in Wiseman. There’s no nastiness or determination. I don’t know whether his demeanour is misleading, or maybe he’s in his head too much and over-thinking. Which brings me to point 2. Some of this is on Kerr and the coaching staff. I am usually a Kerr-supporter, but if this guy is the rookiest of rookies, how about you put him in the game and run the same 3 sets the whole time? Simplify things for him. Get him reps on a situation until he gets it, and then expand the repertoire. Being in there trying to remember every play in the system when he has difficulty trying to do a basic drop-step spin move....... I am not making excuses for the kid - he needs to do better, but the coaching staff can help reduce the things he has to focus on. Also, a great point from Alch about teammates giving him the ball at the right moment. Hopefully the players who will be here next season will have that as a point of focus - much like at the start of this year when everybody not named Draymond had to be taught the first thing you do on offense is to look to screen for Steph!

athleticalchemy

Good to hear from you Max.. I agree the motor/ attitude is most concerning. If Kerr is getting pressure to play him, you wonder if he is low key making him look bad to prove a point .

Anonymous

Honestly at this point I think it would be worth giving Wiseman some time in the g league.

Abhi Kelkar

Collins looks like Poole's crackhead cousin. All I got for this game
