I hope he sees this!! Loved the KD comparison, too.

Great Video Bro lets hope kelly will see it

I give Kelly 20 games. I believe that drey can help sooth over some of these bumps in time. I've been saying Kelly has been worse then Wiggins but man the Wiggins hate is something that will never go away no matter how good he plays

Anonymous

I was waiting all day 4 this

Kelly is too young to be stubborn, but he likes his flash too much. Ill give him 10 games...even when I play with a new team, it takes about 10 games. But Alc do you think that the lack of time spent doing normal things together (i.e., bonding together through hangouts and meals etc) is affecting the Warriors? Because there is something to knowing someones tendencies through bonding in and outside the court.

It's always a matter of personality whether he will take direction, or not. James probably knows a lot about that. I doubt we can guess. If he does have the right personality, he needs to be approached in the right way. Two big if's!

I don't know Kelly Oubre before this year other than the hot head clips. But.. didn't he also have these tendencies when he averaged 18 ppg and shot 33 from 3 or whatever ? Like if he can get that back then the footwork stuff u mentioned is unconventional but effective. The gambling is a super easy fix. The speed thing should be easy. I tend to think you don't make dramatic improvements at 25, but get us last year's offense and a coupe of tweeks pls. PS Alc I went back .. remember Marcus Smart for the TPE and the #2? Funny in retrospect.

I think Oubre can turn things around. Honestly I think everyone can turn things around when the cohesiveness improves. You can see the mistiming and miscommunication so often in the games on both offense and defense. Draymond looked winded like he clearly still needs time to get his lungs back from Covid. Things can come down drastically fast when the team chemistry isn't there yet. You lose a few early possessions because someone wasn't where you thought they would be on a pass, come up short on a few early plays because you thought you had to shoot right then and there when perhaps another player was trying to get to a better spot but you're not used to the system, lose a few defensive plays because the switching is confusing... You put any and all of these things together and you can lose a ton of points really quickly and then morale is quickly shot. You start to feel the urgency to score, maybe play a bit more hesitant or maybe a bit quicker than you are used to, and then continue to miss. Yeah it's going to be a tough process. I want to give the team at least 20 games before making any more serious critiques, but it might require a bit more than that honestly.

great video alch. kelly looks like he's rushing every time he gets the ball, I think once he gets more comfortable with the team and the system he'll look some what better. he looks like a kid who gets to start for the first time in a high school game, he's been rough but I believe in him, it's gonna take some time

Anonymous

I think he can improve with the switching and defensive communication, I forget when he was traded but he's not had too much time to learn the system and hasn't played with Draymond much who will definitely get on Oubre if he keeps fucking up, but I don't see the footwork improving and him developing a triple threat. He shot 35% last year from 3 so not too concerned about the 1 2 vs the hop, I think he'll eventually find a rhythm but would have to look at the shoots he got in Phoneix.

I'm willing to wait quite a while for both Wiggins and Kelly. Warriors have probably the most complex offense in the league, and someone coming from the Twolves or Suns may be completely unprepared for how exactly to take advantage of having the greatest shooter of all time on the court with them. I have faith in the coaching staff, Steph, and Dray to eventually get the key points through to them so that it can come through at game speed. I don't think any team should give up on someone that athletic who gives that much effort.

I think there's alot of hope to be had that these issues will be fixed as the season goes on. Fallin asleep on switches is probably so much of a mental thing that I wouldn't expect that to change. Totally agree on the feet work he's rollin with. I played only 1 year as a wide out In highschool and false steps were a thing of the past. Get kelly with a feet work coach on some good things could happen quick. Nothing is more frustrating than those false steps out of bounds.

He has got the HEART, so just cut him some slack. Offense will come soon, the problem is on switching but once someone explain to him, I think it will improve.

Kelly cute *pause* ass on a tight leash

Give it some time. All we should be looking at is improvement game to game. Everyone on this team needs to do better top to bottom. I’ll give them 20 games before they start cooking

I would like to see kelly at the 4 or even smal ball 5

Anonymous

Yeah i agree, wiggins seems to be fitting in nicely and i see more effort, oubre has effort just needs to basically everything alc says

I always wondered do coaches in nba confront players on what they need to do? Or is that ‘unprofessional’. I think more coaches should do that with younger guys kinda like how kid coaches do stuff in a way

Ravi Dissanayake

He can improve his fundamentals I mean anyone can but the court vision Iggy had I doubt he could ever match. Id rather have Harrison barnes back.

I'm optimistic, the thing we have to realize he's just another rotation player, many including me expected him to potentially be a Nr. 3 guy. But I think we have to reset our expectations. Once we he finds his role and develops basic off ball defensive principles, the lack of his fundamental basketball skill isn't too concerning. The shot will fall eventually, especially for a guy with his confidenve Lvl. And there are many role players and starters who make a living on being just a pesky on ball defender, a straight Line driver and a weak side threat. But hey, it can only go up from here, and once fans are allowed back in at least chase will always have his share of screaming highschool girls.

You know me Alch. Been saying it. 20 games. If we're 2-18 by then, and he's shown some improvement, I'll still take it haha. Are you gonna do a video on the downfall of Looney? Like the 2016-17 Looney compared to now? Like in all honesty, besides knowing how to set screens and play well with Steph, what does Looney actually contribute to this team? He cant rebound, he cant finish, he cant shoot, he's not a good passer, he cant defend bigger/stronger guys, his lateral quickness he use to have to defend guys like Harden isnt there anymore......what more does he give to the team? Cuz as I see it now, he needs to be let go for someone, ANYONE, better and/or bigger. And Wanamaker. Fuck that guy. He's like a fatter, older Raymond Felton.

Russ

I agree that Kelly needs the crowd to give him confidence, but thats kind of weak in my mind. He's got a Diva mindset. Thats not going to change, we have to give him time and he will get better of course, he can't get worse but he's got too much Elton John in him.

Anonymous

Just gonna have to see how he plays it out through out the season!

Daniel Fries

If Oubre has Draymond barking at him constantly he'll improve. Also now that Steph showed everyone who the offense is, he'll stay humble and pay attention. You see how Draymond willed him to make that 3 tonight? Gave him no choice. And did you notice Draymond anticipate O's inability to switch, and then grab the steal? Steph was on fire but man it was good to see Draymond outsmarting everyone on D.

Frothing (amped) for the next video

As far as finished product goes, my hope is we got him just before that is the case and that being influenced by champ level vets will help him take whatever possible next step he has in him as a Warrior

Anonymous

Moreover, I think we are learning what Oubre’s ceiling height may be and therefore what type of player we can truly ask of him On the contrary, if he was shooting 35% from deep we’d probably all be hella high on him Let’s hope he can reach his shooting and team D potential with us

Jerry Heverly

I see this period as the first stage of a 24 month "season". This year's goal is simply to earn the right to be crushed in the first round of the playoffs. That would be success. And, you are right, there is no choice here, the Warriors must ride Oubre as far as he will go. I like the way Pascall has adapted, passing up the three's to fake and take a couple dribbles inside the arc. It has worked for him. i hope Oubre can find some way to improve, and, yes, it makes it easier to be patient when you see his effort, especially on the defensive side. I remain optimistic......for now.
