Hey Alch I was wondering. If he say is our back up center behind Marquese who's also undersized, don't you think some of the bigger more dominant centers in the league could really cook them? embiid, ad, jokic etc. I really like this kid but to think that Loon is also undersized and who knows his health situation anymore... just a thought. If we were to meet the Lakers in the Playoffs their size could really be a problem.

Alch, I couldn't agree with you more on him being top of Warriors list. He's so versatile defensively BAM. Plus he covers us if Looney doesn't bounce back. I saw you had a clip of that 2nd ESPN draft scouting video for Okongwu in the beginning. I was high on Okoro but that 2nd draft video sold me on him.

athleticalchemy

funny you say that, I changed up the ending as I finished up. Originally I brought up that would be one issue, how much do they like Chriss? How healthy is looney? But I didnt want to end the video on a bunch open ended questions.

What you said does make sense, but I don't think we're picking this guy at all, unless he suddenly showed some dribbling and playmaking potential 🤔

He looks nice enough.. Even when teams do have a center mismatch, how often are we seeing embiid go off for 60 points.. I don't think every roster needs an answer to AD/Embiid/KAT

athleticalchemy

Right...and in a couple years he might be able to even handle the big boys. If he is already 250

John

I like this kid and let's be honest Loon more then likely is tapped out. if he can just be 2x the player loon is with less injuries then it was a great pick

As someone who has watched the Warriors for 49 years I cite the history of this (and other) franchises epitomized by Todd Fuller. People fall in love with the statistics, especially that one that says ´seven feet´. Wiseman LOOK

Jerry Heverly

(sorry, hit the wrong key)....Wiseman looks like the guy, but Okongo is the one they should draft becaIuse of what is inside, the attitude and the work ethic. I would take this guy even they have the first pick.

athleticalchemy

I remember Todd and Foyle and so on....I will say, its not just Wiseman's size but his athleticism, still I get your point. Like I said in the video, I think O is the safest bet.

R U trying to make us waffle on our previous "on the record" picks!?*

Alch what are the chances that some of these more “warrior” type sleepers might end up in the 2nd round? I’m not terribly familiar with the draft rules so forgive me if this sounds ignorant but, do the Dubs get a pick in the 2nd round if they already picked in the 1st?

athleticalchemy

you get the same pick you had in the first..if they get the third pick, they pick third in the second rd. All the players I have looked at will go in the lottery or just outside of it..so 1-17

I think he's our target unless Wiseman falls into our laps. Even then for the right deal I could see us swapping back and still taking Okongwu. Looking at the FA market might make sense to go for a big in the draft and focus on finding wings in free agency

I dig how the Nigerian heritage is also part of the analysis. Olajuwon also a nigerian and emigrated to play college ball with a developing skill set. He also started out as a rebounding roll player. I for some gut reason agree with the general consensus that the attitude is better than that of Wiseman. He just looks so nervous with the ball at the top of the key tho. The shot looks fair, tho not confident. The opening remark about dunking on LeBron let's you know he believes in himself. But the big O needs a big Ol consultation from Stevie Nash.

Thomas Ogas

He'd be hard to pass up if we were drafting, say, 7 or 10. But if we keep our pick (and it's guaranteed to be 1-5), I think they may second guess themselves too much and go with a guard/wing. Hell, we desperately need switchable wing players who are athletic and can defend. We have one of them right now and a hobbled Klay Thompson.

You still think he is on the top of the Dubs' draft board? How far down do you think they could trade and still get him?

I cant stand LeBron but it troubles me when nobodies feel comfortable with saying a great name in vain

Jerry Heverly

This is the guy. I agree about his ceiling/floor. The Warriors were built with character guys and Okongwu is from the same breed. {Beware of that genetics nonsense, even from Gladwell. You aren´t old enough to remember the days when ¨scientists¨ opined that African-Americans were not genetically suited to swimming.}

I hear you! Within basketball I feel like it’s a safe generalization. But then that’s when you make a mistake..
