His demeanour looks a bit timid makes me wonder what it takes for him to push to the next level. He’s gonna need a team built around him at one point in time to succeed . That’s a big ask for any nba team rn

Thomas Ogas

If I was starting from scratch I might take him 1 in this draft. Build a team around him. Etc. But for that warriors to play at peak warriors ball, the center needs to be a role player, not a franchise center piece. Wiseman is not a good fit in the motion offense. Only reason I see the warriors drafting him 1 is to trade him later on.

Anonymous

That was pretty epic

Anonymous

Oof taking him at 1 is quite the take. I agree his potential is in the realm of a Jaren Jackson but given our teams needs at the wing I might prefer taking Edwards or Avdija and hunting FA for a 7ft big. I do think if his 3 ball can be as good as you think though and the FO can see that in some type of predraft workout then we have to take him.

Anonymous

Take this guy 1 all day! Others in the draft are less than sure things. I'd take a shot on LaMelo, for sure. But Wiseman just in a few clips shows the kind of athleticism, bodily awareness, and fluid shot that shows superstar potential. In the right organization that could turn into franchise easily

Anonymous

If he positions himself well, he could blend into Warriors with a great opportunity to showcase his talent and skills. I believe Steph and Klay will make his life a lot easier but he would be a backup center for Warriors to start.

Anonymous

Wow it's been so long that I completely FORGOT that we have Wiggins on the team

John Z

Man.....this draft gonna be interesting

Anonymous

Lmao you really got in your bag with the after effects on this one.

If the Warriors want to maintain the "light years ahead" mentality then I think Wiseman should be the pick. Dubs were the first to weaponize the 3 ball and now the entire league has shifted to play small ball and shoot the 3 in order to beat the warriors, and the rest of the league has caught up. If you're the warriors, maybe you try and flip the script entirely and gamble on the next evolution of the 3-ball era and draft who you think is the first true 3&D Big. There's a lot of players in this draft who would be good to great role players on this team but I think Wiseman is the only one who has a chance to substantially change the way that teams, and the league as a whole, approaches the warriors.

athleticalchemy

Who knows what he’s made of!? But if he just stays the course he is going to be good and potentially very good. In a draft like this! IDK I take him!

athleticalchemy

Exactly.. if your NY or ATL maybe you take Melo but after watching everything I could on him he’s just too gifted and then when I saw the touch!

Anonymous

I like him. He could end up being what we wanted Damian Jones to be like. Considering the way bender has been playing and the fragility recently of Kevon, I think it’s a smart pick up, especially if we don’t end up getting Giannis.

Anonymous

You think Chriss could be that 3 and D guy?

Anonymous

I like KG comp Assuming the 3 ball at a +37% clip takes 2-3 years to develop If he could just consistently hit that shot Zaza and David West so often were given from 15-18 out at the foul line, with his explosion to the rim, and versatility Warriors could start going big a large portion of a series running Chriss & Wisemen sharing the 4/5 position when Drays off the floor, maybe starting play him less minutes in the regular season to keep fresh From the little footage we have, Wisemen looks more like a rover, Giannis/AD big rather than a traditional Gobert/Embiid rim paint protector. I think the Warriors can get him at 2, even as late 3 with Edwards going 1 For having one of the “weakest” draft classes it is proving already to one of the most interesting

athleticalchemy

Not sure he will ever have the confidence in the 3. I can’t remember seeing him pull one that I though he really wanted to take.

athleticalchemy

Yeah.. to be clear I’m not saying he is going come in pumping them up. But if he has anybody around him worth a damn. It’s been, and is in the plans for his development.

Anonymous

We NEED somebody to throw it to in the post for an easy 2 when our threes ain't hitting. he's an easy number one pick and starter

Anonymous

Good one ALC.. u think Chris will thrive as a Pf or Center ?

Anonymous

This is the video I've been waiting the most for. Couldn't agree more on your thoughts. Wiseman could be special

Anonymous

He could be the exact type of player that would make the Warriors unbeatable for another 4/5/6 years. He would be the Warriors most bold pick, a shoot the moon pick. Many of the most disappointing picks in NBA history are big men as in....https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1657535-15-biggest-nba-draft-busts-of-all-time. I hope the Warriors shoot for it.

athleticalchemy

I think he would thrive against back up bigs as a 5.. but that’s not to say he couldn’t play along side Wiseman. That in theory is the beauty of the 3&D Big, jackson jr plays along side Valanciunas.

Anonymous

You think the rumors that the Warriors aren’t interested in Wiseman/Lamelo are smokescreens? I could see them hiding their interest in Wiseman and actually not being interested in Lamelo. if Warriors dont get the top pick, Wiseman could drop to them wherever they fall

athleticalchemy

I knew this would be your take. You have seen enough eras of hoops to understand. The dominant style of play evolves and changes every 5yr or so. And this is essentially the Oden rule, or Bowie rule... you got a swing for the fences here. When there is no Zion or Luka in this draft.

Anonymous

I think the KG comparison is interesting. I said he had David Robinson potential with his athleticism and body size. He looks like he can add 15-20 pounds of muscle without having to compromise athleticism. Small sample size but I think he’s the way to go if we aren’t trading away the pick. Looney would able to revert back to his bench role and add big depth.

athleticalchemy

yeah his frame is bigger, KG had that weird long neck narrow shoulder built. but his jumper and how he plays up right but still explosive is what reminds me of the Big Ticket.

athleticalchemy

We are going to hear they like and dislike all these guys before it said and done..especially with the delay. ATL and NY are two teams that could land ahead of us and not take Wiseman.

Anonymous

fantastic content, sir!

athleticalchemy

he gets off the floor in like 1/3 of the time it takes DJ. I think that's ultimately whats held Damian back from at least being serviceable

Anonymous

Really nice breakdown. I'm a recent subscriber and am loving all your posts. Most of the "bust Centers" that have been lottery picks are also a bit heavier and slower. Wiseman is long, fast, and moves with fluidity. I'm hoping his floor is a little more Marcus Camby than Javale. Keep up the great work.

Anonymous

Now you've got my hyped for Wiseman. This is an emotional rollercoaster

athleticalchemy

thanks man! I agree he moves to well to just bust..Thing with Marcus was he played 3 years at UCON he had been coached up a lot more. But yeah I mean Id take a Camby clone #1 in this draft for sure.

Yo Alch , non basketball related, i'd really like for you to give us your top 10 books to read really liked Blink and would like to read more books like that.

Anonymous

Just writing again to say Wiseman is our guy 100%. And I agree if you're a crappy franchise you can't draft him bc you will mis use him. There is not one 7'1" guy I can think of that runs and swivels like that in recent memory. I would be happy with 1-4. I would be bummed with Deni Avidja. Sorry, but he looks like the Kurt Thomas of the Israeli league to me.

Paul Hanson

Another fantastic breakdown Uncle Alch. Love the Kevin Garnett comparison. You’re right about the hips though-he and Obi Toppin seem to have stiff hips. Hope he spent a lot of time working on his game before the pandemic. Damn I was not seriously considering him knowing the lottery luck of the Dubs-I still can’t get Al Attles grimace at getting the absolute worst pick number a 22-60 team with the worst record could get in 1985. I suppose they did get luck to get Klay at the pick in 2011-I’m just scarred for life with lottery disasters and this team. Chris Washburn, Todd Fuller, Joe Smith, et al. I suppose that old Warrior bad mojo has been purged- just wish we still had Jerry West still around. Bob Meyers has done a pretty good job overall. Just hope that Draymond doesn’t ‘help’ out and they get another Jacob Evans. I wish Jordan Bell took it more seriously while on the Warriors. See-now you got me all excited about this draft!

athleticalchemy

it almost feels like we are due to hit on a big! Okongwu coming up here and now the decision is harder...

I like the concept of the new breed. I'd like to think of Wiseman as something in between Gobert and young Hayes of NOP. Random thought though: if we had Wiseman and reinvigorated draymond that would be dope to see. I feel affinity for draymond as an undersized player who really embodies the spirit of an old breed of defensive big. Aka the comps to the worm. I love the thought that Wiseman himself would opt into this roll of a defensive special weapons. If he enters draymond academy, works on body etc... Could he be the new breed Big Ben?
