"Hey, Michaela..."

After class, as Michaela just walked out of the classroom, she was called from behind by a familiar voice.

The familiar voice made her stop in her tracks, and she took a deep breath, her face transitioning from irritation to impatience, and finally to a smile. Michaela perfectly demonstrated the skill of a woman's ever-changing expressions. Slowly turning around, she greeted the person who called her.

"Hey, Sam!"

The person who called out to her was none other than Michaela's current boyfriend, Sam.

Half a year ago, they embarked on a journey to save the world together. During the thrilling adventure, their hormones surged, and they also shared a secret they needed to protect.

As a result, what was once just neighbors and classmates who rarely interacted with each other became a couple shortly after returning from Las Vegas.

However...

"Hey, Michaela..."

Sam, holding a thick stack of books, hurriedly caught up to her, asking with a smile, "How did the test go just now?"

This guy!

Michaela couldn't help but roll her eyes at her boyfriend. After dating for more than half a year, she was now very certain that Sam was the typical high IQ but low EQ individual.

"Sam..." She took a breath, calming the emotions in her chest, "You should know that I've never scored above a B!"

"Uh!"

Sam's smile froze on his face, looking somewhat embarrassed, he turned his head to the side, attempting to alleviate the awkwardness brought about by his lack of emotional intelligence.

Indeed, as Michaela said, she was not a girl with excellent academic performance. Initially, she barely passed the minimum requirements to get into this high school.

In contrast to Sam, who was something of a bookworm, Michaela, with her exceptional looks and figure, had always been the object of pursuit for the boys in their high school, who were undergoing a hormone-filled phase.

As a result, her grades at school were abysmal, mostly Cs, and some even received red marks.

Michaela smiled at him, but she couldn't help feeling a bit restless inside.

After they officially started dating, she quickly noticed that her new boyfriend, Sam, wasn't as skilled in sweet talk and creating romantic moments as the boys who had pursued her in the past. However, he was undoubtedly an exceptionally knowledgeable and charismatic young man.

Inside Sam's house was a mechanical being from outer space, who referred to himself as "Bumblebee," always disguised as Sam's car and protecting him.

Though Michaela didn't have as much contact with Bumblebee as her boyfriend did, she was still very curious about these remarkable mechanical warriors who had shown incredible performances in Las Vegas.

However, it was also because of this that Michaela, who came from a single-parent family and was far more mature than girls her age, began to feel a certain unease.

Sam was becoming more and more outstanding. In the past, he was well known in class as a bookworm, and his grades were generally in the B range, some subjects even reaching A.

After the new semester began, his performance gained recognition from many teachers. In the first semester of senior year, Sam achieved excellence in all subjects, practically locking in a spot in a prestigious national university in advance.

If he maintained his current performance in the next semester, even without the school's recommendation, Sam would have a chance to be accepted into a prestigious Ivy League university based solely on his grades, launching him into the pinnacle of life.

In this situation, even the once very confident Michaela couldn't help but feel a sense of inferiority.

Her grades were terrible, her family situation wasn't good either, and her father had a criminal record for stealing vehicles. Although Sam had personally asked the Secretary of Defense, with whom she had a brief encounter, to clear her father's criminal record, all of these couldn't change one fact:

Michaela keenly felt something that her silly boyfriend hadn't realized yet—their sweet times together might not last much longer.

"Sorry..."

Though Sam lacked emotional intelligence, he wasn't a complete idiot.

He opened his mouth, hesitated, then quickly seemed to think of something and smiled at Michaela, saying, "The test is over now, how about we take some time to relax?"

Michaela smiled and shrugged, "Sam, you know, my dad just opened a repair shop recently. I need to help out in my free time!"

Seeing the undisguised disappointment on her boyfriend's face, she thought for a moment before adding, "...However, if it's next weekend, I should have some free time."

"Then it's settled!" Sam readily agreed, "Oh, I just remembered, my cousin has a cabin by the lake in Aiger Town. Let's go there next weekend!"

"Sure!"

Michaela agreed with a smile, and the two of them laughed and made their way to the private lockers inside the teaching building.

Similar to Japan, most European and American schools provided private lockers for students, where they could store their personal belongings.

However, in Japan, besides providing lockers in the gymnasium for shoes, lockers were also available inside the teaching building. In contrast, most European and American schools offered private lockers to students for storing books and other items.

Michaela's school prohibited the use of electronic devices during class, so although students were allowed to bring their phones to school, they had to store them in their private lockers during class.

After school, Sam and Michaela came to the lockers to store some books they didn't plan to take home and to retrieve their phones.

"Today is the 17th, right?"

When they arrived at their respective lockers, Michaela suddenly seemed to remember something, and her face showed a somewhat strange expression as she asked her boyfriend, Sam.

"Yeah!"

Sam answered affirmatively while also showing a puzzled look.

After exchanging a glance with him, Michaela took out the key from her pocket and took a deep breath, saying, "Alright, I'm going to open it now!"

"Wait..."

Seeing that she was about to insert the key into the locker, Sam suddenly stopped her, stepping forward to stand in front of the locker.

"Let me do it!"

Michaela looked at him, smiled, and retracted her hand holding the key, taking a step back.

Sam took a deep breath, his skin now seemed to have a slightly reddish hue due to nervousness.

He reached out and quickly grasped the key, then glanced at Michaela. With a reassuring look in his eyes, he gave the key a twist, and the locker was opened.

"Creak!"

The slightly rusty alloy door made a harsh metal sound as it opened.

However, no one paid attention to it because the moment the locker door was opened, both of them fixed their gaze on the brand-new Nokia phone inside.

"N78!"

Michaela's eyes lit up. Like most girls in the United States, she paid close attention to fashion and those luxury items she couldn't afford herself. Naturally, she knew just how popular this phone from Nokia, a world-renowned mobile giant, was after its release last month.

Unfortunately...

Her eyes quickly dimmed because her boyfriend, Sam, proficiently brought the phone in front of them and flipped it over to reveal a pattern that both Michaela and Sam were familiar with.

"Decepticon!"
