"Caz..."

This was the sound of sharp teeth tearing through the outer layer of Sun Cheng's bulletproof vest, stopped by the fiberglass underneath.

His vengeance, hanging in front of him, was thrown away, as if it hadn't received his command. It didn't transform to protect him.

Feeling a tightness in his chest, Sun Cheng quickly struggled and used the butt of his gun to fiercely smash the head of the Dilophosaurus.

"Thud..."

"Thud..."

After taking several heavy blows to the head, the Dilophosaurus became dizzy and its movements slowed down.

Seizing this opportunity, Sun Cheng wouldn't miss it. He swung the gun butt again, viciously targeting the eye socket of the Dilophosaurus. It flew up, crashed heavily on the ground beside him. Despite his disheveled appearance, he quickly got up, half-kneeling on the ground, and raised his M16, spraying a burst of bullets towards it. "Rat-a-tat-tat... Rat-a-tat-tat..."

The serpent of fire sprayed from the M16 continuously hit the young Dilophosaurus. Although the 5.56mm bullets couldn't cause much damage to the swift raptor with its tough scales, each gunshot created a new bullet hole on the young Dilophosaurus, oozing blood.

"Hiss..."

In the end, before he finished shooting, the young Dilophosaurus was already convulsing on the ground with its head drooping. Seeing its feeble hissing, it seemed like it was about to expire.

After finally dealing with it, Sun Cheng snapped back to reality and looked at the bullet-pierced outer layer of his torn bulletproof vest. He couldn't help but feel a chill down his spine.

"Rat-a-tat-tat..."

Gunshots not far away reminded him that he wasn't alone here. He quickly stood up from the ground, weapon in hand, and glanced across the Humvee. As expected, Dr. Settler was facing off against another young Dilophosaurus.

However, her situation was far from good. It seemed she caught a glimpse of his figure and, with a desperate expression, desperately fired her gun to keep the young Dilophosaurus at bay. She turned her head towards him and shouted with relief, "Sun, come help me!"

Sun Cheng noticed her green and black complexion, her drooping arm, and the fact that she was relying on her left hand to shoot. He immediately realized that she must be injured.

Without hesitation, he raised his gun, aimed briefly, and fired several shots at the young Dilophosaurus. Perhaps feeling the pain, it unexpectedly became frightened and leaped into the nearby woods, quickly disappearing from sight.

"It's okay..."

After remaining vigilant for a moment and not hearing any further movement, Sun Cheng holstered his gun and walked over to Dr. Settler.

"I've been poisoned... cough...," Dr. Settler forced a smile and weakly raised her left hand, appearing completely devoid of strength. "It was that bicephalic dragon... I wasn't careful... it sprayed venom all over my face... it's probably a neurotoxin... I'm losing feeling in my body."

She seemed paralyzed, rapidly losing strength, and unable to move. Sun Cheng furrowed his brow, but there was a glimmer of relief in his eyes.

He quickly bent down to support her and guided her into the power supply room, helping her lean against the door. "You're in no condition to rescue anyone now. Just focus on staying here and wait for my update."

Dr. Settler couldn't say much. She couldn't even move at this point, so she twitched her lips for a moment, nodding helplessly. "I understand... I'll stay here... waiting for your good news..."

"I'm leaving now. Lock the door from the inside and don't make any noise if you hear any commotion outside. If it's me returning with others, I'll signal you to open the door!"

After giving a few more instructions, Sun Cheng declined the weapon she offered, leaving it with her for self-defense.

After exiting the power supply room and closing the door, Sun Cheng walked towards the Humvee, about to open the door and get in. However, he glanced at the lifeless body of the small bicephalic dragon on the ground. After a moment of contemplation, he carried it a few dozen meters away and disposed of it. Then, he released Safeguard and restarted the Humvee, heading towards the precise location indicated on Safeguard's screen, towards Area E.

Finally, with Dr. Settler taken care of, Sun Cheng was alone in the vehicle. The pent-up emotions that had been building up all night finally subsided. He decided to let go of his desire for revenge and took off the strap that had been hanging around his chest.

"Safeguard, did you disable the island's defense system?" This had been something he had been curious about since the incident occurred that night.

"No!" Unfortunately, Safeguard's response was resolute. "The defense system was disabled by a technician from the research center. He had already left by the time I arrived at the research center. Based on the vulnerabilities and control program he left behind in the island's management system, it's safe to say he has been bribed by another faction!"

"Oh?"

Sun Cheng didn't expect this turn of events, but upon reflection, it had nothing to do with him. Therefore, he didn't pursue the matter further.

The car continued along the island's road. Whenever they encountered a checkpoint, Sun Cheng instructed Safeguard to take action—opening the gate, passing through, and then closing it. The journey went on, with several stops, and before they knew it, more than half an hour had passed.

"Boom... boom..."

After the engine finally sputtered and died, Sun Cheng slammed his fist on the steering wheel and let out a frustrated sigh.

They say American cars are gas guzzlers, and the Hummer off-road vehicle was undoubtedly a fuel-hungry beast. He didn't know much about cars and had been skeptical about it.

But today he finally understood that the rumors were indeed true.

"Just four tanks of gas, and it lasted only this long..."

Annoyed, he struck the steering wheel with his fist once again, then rubbed his hair in frustration before turning to Safeguard beside him and asked, "Safeguard, how far are we from the spaceship?"

"If we continue along the road, it's about five kilometers. But if we go straight through the forest on the other side, it's less than three kilometers..."

The forest?!

Sun Cheng glanced through the car window at the nearby forest, shook his head, and immediately dismissed the idea of going straight through it.

Are you kidding?

No one could say for sure how many carnivorous dinosaurs were still on the island. Moreover, as far as he knew, most carnivorous animals had the habit of hunting at night. Who knew how many prehistoric monsters lurked in that forest, capable of easily taking his life?

Not to mention that the ghost hunter hadn't appeared yet. Who knew where it was wandering on the island?

They had to stick to the road.

Though it was a longer route, it was much safer than venturing into the forest.

After a brief consideration and decision, Sun Cheng glanced at the time. It was not even 2 a.m.

Perhaps due to experiencing too many things during the night, he still felt quite alert and didn't have much sleepiness.

So, after adjusting his mood slightly, he stretched and prepared to get out of the car to leave.

Unexpectedly, at that moment, a thumping sound came from inside the car.

His nerves on edge, he instinctively grabbed his weapon and cautiously took out a flashlight, shining it towards the place where the sound came from.

Under the beam of light, an orange crystal lay beneath the accelerator, still rolling gently.

As his gaze fell upon it, Sun Cheng suddenly felt a tremor in his body once again. Without thinking, he reached out and grabbed it!
