The auctioneer opened the wooden box, revealing a cluster of delicate green leaves within.

"Fellow Daoist, may I request to approach for a closer observation? After all, who can guarantee that you haven't casually plucked a leaf to deceive us?" a thin Cultivator inquired loudly, and his suggestion immediately gained the approval of the crowd in the auction hall.

Given the profound significance of this matter, they didn't want to risk their lives acquiring something, only to discover it was a forgery upon closer examination. While the Central State Trading Company had always maintained a good reputation, such incidents had occurred before in the Cultivation World.

With strength in numbers, the collective will of the people prevailed. Ultimately, the auction organizers consented to allow everyone to take turns to approach and inspect.

Both Golden Core and Nascent Soul cultivators in attendance wished to get a closer look at the legendary Dao Rune. As a result, the area in front of the auction stage became crowded, and the ten Nascent Soul cultivators guarding the stage were on high alert, repeatedly cautioning the crowd not to rush.

However, people tend to follow the crowd, and even Immortal Cultivators couldn't always suppress their instinctive reactions. If others were surging forward, you would naturally want to as well, fearing that staying behind meant missing out on a great opportunity.

The thin Cultivator who had initially suggested the idea lingered at the auction stage, refusing to yield his spot to others, making the ten Nascent Soul Cultivators on the stage exceedingly nervous. They kept a close watch on him, ready to act if he made any suspicious moves.

"Please leave promptly!"

"Please leave promptly!"

One of the Nascent Soul Cultivators on the auction stage shouted loudly.

Wang Hong, who owned a piece of the forest, had no interest in joining the commotion. Did he really need to care about a single tree leaf?

At this moment, he sensed that something was amiss and slowly made his way toward the exit. He noticed that many other cultivators had the same idea and were heading for the exit as well.

As the thin Cultivator finally left under the admonition of the Nascent Soul Cultivators, the Nascent Soul Cultivators on the stage collectively breathed a sigh of relief. If he had decided to attack at that moment, even if they had managed to kill him, it could have triggered a riot in the entire hall, a situation they, with only ten people, could not control.

However, just as this tension seemed to subside, several beams of light shot out from the crowd and targeted the ten Nascent Soul Cultivators on the stage. Two of them died on the spot. Meanwhile, the thin Cultivator who had left earlier had turned back and was now charging toward the auction stage.

"Fellow Daoists, whoever obtains the Dao Rune today shall rely on their own means!" a voice rang out from the crowd. Upon hearing this, the people in the hall, including Golden Core Cultivators, felt tempted. Amid the chaos, everyone believed they had a chance to seize the Dao Rune for themselves.

Those who had initially just wanted to get a closer look had changed their minds and now sought to seize the Dao Rune. If they didn't act, they might regret it later.

At this point, only eight Nascent Soul Cultivators remained on the stage. Facing the surging crowd, they appeared like a lone boat in a tumultuous sea, on the verge of being overwhelmed by the oncoming tide.

Amidst the chaos, nobody noticed the strange gust of wind that swept across the auction stage, enveloping the wooden box held by the auctioneer. It flew out of her grasp and landed directly in the hands of the thin Cultivator.

Upon seeing this, other Cultivators quickly realized what was happening and attempted to pursue the thin Cultivator. However, they were obstructed by his companions, and the thin Cultivator swiftly disappeared into the crowd.

Just as it seemed the thin Cultivator would make off with the treasure, a powerful aura suddenly descended upon the venue, sending even the Nascent Soul Cultivators present into a state of immobility.

The strength of this aura was such that even Nascent Soul Cultivators felt as if they had encountered a formidable adversary and dared not move.

Only Soul Transformation Cultivators possessed the ability to instill such fear even in Nascent Soul Cultivators. It was unexpected that a Soul Transformation Cultivator would intervene in this affair.

Soul Transformation Cultivators, as the most powerful figures of major factions, often remained elusive and above worldly matters. Most Nascent Soul Cultivators present had never encountered a Soul Transformation Cultivator before.

They never expected to have a chance to meet one today, and initially, they thought they could seek refuge with him. However, his appearance was for the purpose of suppressing them.

At that moment, a manifested Spirit Qi tiger suddenly appeared out of nowhere, pouncing on the fleeing thin Cultivator. Then, this tiger darted through the crowd like lightning.

After several flashes, more than ten Cultivators in the crowd lay lifeless on the ground. These were the individuals who had initiated the attack on the Nascent Soul Cultivators on the auction stage.

As the manifested Spirit Qi tiger dissipated, the Soul Transformation Cultivator did not appear. Instead, a voice echoed through the auction venue: "The auction will continue. Anyone who dares to cause chaos or disrupt the order of the auction, take this as an example!"

The voice was ethereal, seeming to be everywhere and nowhere at once.

When the voice ceased, more than ten Nascent Souls floated out of the bodies of the fallen Cultivators on the ground. These Nascent Souls all had their eyes tightly closed, unable to move.

Suddenly, a flame appeared above each Nascent Soul's head, resembling candles floating in the air. As the flames burned, the Nascent Souls' faces twisted in extreme agony. They tried to scream, but it seemed some force sealed their voices, preventing any sound from escaping.

The Cultivators in the venue were petrified by this spectacle, frozen in place, too terrified to move.

"Now, the auction will continue," the voice announced once more. The venue fell into absolute silence, with only the charred Nascent Souls still burning in the air.

"Fellow Daoists, let's proceed with the previous auction," the female auctioneer on the stage managed to force a faint smile and resumed hosting the interrupted auction.

In a hidden chamber several miles away from the auction venue, a Cultivator in crimson robes calmly sipped a cup of Spirit Tea. His Divine Sense, however, remained constantly vigilant over the auction venue. After his earlier display of power, the auction had returned to orderly proceedings. Even the tone of the bids had become exceedingly polite, and everyone appeared courteous and gentlemanly.

Wang Hong had left the chaotic scene before, wanting nothing to do with it. He could only speculate about the situation inside the auction hall.

However, as soon as he exited the auction venue, he realized that someone was tailing him. These pursuers were only a few Golden Core Cultivators, and they seemed to be familiar faces.

After making a few loops around the city, Wang Hong noticed that these individuals were persistent. He decided to send a Transmission Talisman to Liu Changsheng, instructing him to meet outside the city. After all, it was possible that these Golden Core Cultivators had some formidable backup.

Subsequently, Wang Hong continued walking towards the city's outskirts, confident that his message would reach Liu Changsheng.
