Funky and Fun Minor Blues Riff and Groove (Patreon)

Today we are going to be playing some blues music, but we are going to be working some riff action into our groove with some sliding chords. In my opinion these are my favorite types of rhythms to play, the ones that mix in a little bit of riff, but do so in a way that they just fit the track perfectly. This one is a minor blues that does just that with a triplet and a really cool sliding chord. I will talk about the theory behind as well so you can feel free to apply that logic to other keys or chords and for the turnaround we will take a similar approach but apply it to a different shape. This is a classic riff example of anticipating the change, where you start the lick before the chord. The song Thrill Is Gone is a classic example of a cool minor blues if you were looking for something to listen to to get some inspiration on how to apply this to a song.
