Some more chord melody, this time we are getting lovey dovey. My wife just had a birthday and I jokingly sing this song to her and she suggested the melody would sound good in this style of solo ukulele, and you know what, she was right! The melody is great with a lot o movement across the fretboard, accidentals, changes in timing, triplets and slides, hammer ons, major7 and minor b5 and 11 chords, that's the other party, the harmony that chords are amazing, beautiful, haunting. Lionel Richie has a tremendous amount of natural musically talent, that combined with his hard work and dedication to the craft of making hits. With 10 studio albums as a solo artist, plus his work with the Commodores (he got in the band as he was walking around campus whistling a lick when one of the band members heard it, liked it, and invited him to come jam) plus over 42 singles solo, Lionel has as lot of songs to choose one, but this one is probably my favorite and you'll see why when you play it, the melody is amazing!

As always we will walk you through every piece of the song note for note and at the end of the piece we will do a full play-along so you can Hello by Lionel Richie on the Ukulele finger style for your friends, open mic, professionally or maybe just for yourself! I never understood the video - one of the first with a story I think, way back when we all had hair like Lionel :) BTW : I sometimes play that FMAJ7 as 5557, the four finger one is very interesting for stretching purposes though :)
