Today's PDF is 6 pages, time to really learn some good stuff!

I talk about the time about how blues is so much fun to play because it is so malleable. We are going to explore exactly what I mean by that today by walking you through the creation of a 12 bar blues. At the end of this lesson you will be able to play the 12 bar blues that I created verbatim, but that isn't the goal, the goal is that you watch the process, see what questions I ask myself and how I answer them so you can ask yourself the same questions to make YOUR very own 12 bar blues. This is freedom, we are here, it is go time, the hard work you put into the first 10 days to play what I played have created the opportunity for you to know put your technical skills to the test by implementing creativity as well.

Robert Bornschein

question about bar 9, 10 you start of playing a G7 but resolve on a G6, same with the C7 and C. Why is that you start those bars with the "proper" note/chord, and resolve somewhere else, but when you do a quick riff, you start somewhere random and resolve on the G, or C accordingly?

Tyler Austenfeld

That is a good question, from a harmonic stand point the need to resolve is a lot less urgent. Also, when taking into resolution into a full solo context the only real strong and final resolution needs to take place on the last phrase. You can play a whole solo with dissonant and unstable resolution in your phrasing as long as that last phrase takes it home.
