Rhythm is one of the most underrated areas of almost any string instrument. People either just strum or fingerpick, and then jump into soloing. Never fully diving into the power of the rhythm aspects of their instrument. One area that feels like soloing, but is really rhythm, are fills. The approach is pretty simple, find an area that is void of melody, and fill it up with hot licks. This lesson will walk you through that process step by step. Showing you exactly how to find the empty space, what scales to use, and then it will break down a basic lick, with 3 more licks, one fore each shape.

This is something that you can add to any song, original or cover, to give it spice and originality, and not only that, but it makes all the songs more fun to play! Whether you are adding fills while playing in a rhythm section, adding fills to your original music or adding spicy fills to your favorite color, knowing how to create them will make playing the ukulele much more fun.

Will improve

  • Rhythm in general
  • Understanding of melody
  • The role of a rhythm player
  • C minor pentatonic scale, shapes 5, 1 and 2
