Today we are going to learn how to play "Born on the Bayou" by the great C.C.R. I am a massive Creedence fan, the very first song that I ever learned was "Bad Moon Rising" and ever since that moment I have had a massive special place in my heart for this great band. I love John's voice, song writing ability and guitar playing skills, and while all CCR songs may have basic chord structure and seem easy to play on the surface, good luck capturing the soul and power that John and the rest of the guys played with, a great example that easy chords, easy songs, doesn't mean you can play it with some gusto and power as the band.

The songs is divided into 3 pieces, an intro, verse and chorus, easy overall with the verse actually revolving around just one chord with a stab in the 4th measure adding an F# note. What does that mean? I means you can play the entire verse with just an E7 but to play it just like the band you need to play an E9 every four measures, as always we will break it down piece by piece and show you exactly how to do so, including the intro riff so you shred this song out and have some fun playing it!

So cool! It is also a great teacher for your own song writing. I was blown away but the simplicity. Next time I write a song I am going to do something as simple as that, take the first chord, pluck three of the strings and then jump into the song!

I tell that story every time I wear that shirt to anyone that will listen. I put it on and I like at my wife and I say "Hey, did you know.." "...that you go that shirt in Moab with Rob and the boys on your road trip? Yes, yes I did." hahahaha
