Today we are going to bust out the Baritone ukulele and learn the most important scale, the E minor pentatonic. The reason that this is the most important scale is because it is both the easiest to play from end to end, it starts on shape 1 and shape 1 also has four open strings in it. It is great for playing, improvising, and jamming in the key of E minor and G major as well as E blues. You can use it to both improvise and create melody for songs to sing. It is THE most important scale to know on this ukulele at this size. We will walk you through all 5 shapes from end to end and show you how it restarts at the 12th fret.

Thanks for a bit of baritone theory Tyler. Please keep them coming as and when you can!

My goal is to try and find a way to get this one back with me to Colombia and to do 1 baritone video a month for one of the Wednesday's lessons. If I can't find a way to get it back I might have to shoot a years worth of them before go back to Colombia. It wouldn't be perfect, but I think I could shoot 12 videos in two days, so that is the back up plan.

When I have practiced scales, I have always started and ended at the root note. These fretboard positions seem odd to me. Why do we not start and end at the root as we move up and down the fret board? Is it wrong for me do practice that way?
