First off, Jess, I’m glad you appreciated the episode being shorter in length. I actually didn’t notice until seeing your reaction as it didn’t feel short. The sign of good storytelling. Nevertheless, again, nice to see you appreciated it what with your busy week. Yes, a good second episode. Curious to see more of Ginny and what her story is. Perlie, he did have the address written on a piece of paper on his person, thus, I imagine he knew the apartment was a safe place for him. Shame to see about his brother, presumably, given the surname on the address was the same as Perlie’s. Yes, Esther was a delight. I heard some complaints about the Croat being a former Savior in that he was never seen before, though with it, there was the thought that I heard of given the rough estimate of how many were in the group, maybe he just wasn’t focused on. I thought considering Negan said he made an impression, batshit-wise, and considering how Simon was beyond the pale for Negan, I surmised that Negan kicked the Croat out. To hear from Negan then proceeding to explain much the same thing, and visibly is shaken when describing what happened, that continues to sell how impressive of a villain I’m anticipating the Croat will be. I liked the whole conversation that was had in the bathroom. One thing that I laughed at was the sad thing of considering some of the messes I've cleaned up in bathrooms over the years, the one Negan and Maggie got plopped in ain’t all that bad by comparison. It is fascinating delving into Negan’s explanation of his monstrous acts, monstrous though they were, were strategic. As he says he only became monstrous when necessary. You mention how acts that are too far and what is or isn’t necessary can be debated. I’m not going to fully dive into that debate, but certainly that is a good observation of Negan’s extreme actions being acceptable in his perception doesn’t mean others would hold the same thought. It’s the malleable perception of reality. Like when the Emperor manipulated Anakin, and Anakin speaking of one using powers for good, the Emperor raising an observation, manipulative though it is, that often sticks with me, being, “Good is a point of view.” If nothing else, it was a sight to behold when Negan let the beast run free when avenging dear Esther. You can tell Jeffrey had a blast with the scene. I laughed too hard at him calling the one guy out over the neckbeard AND the rattail. I LOVED when Negan gutted the one guy. It stood out how harsh it was that he just got to it. Even Hannibal Lecter was magnanimous to ask a guy first, “So, what’s it to be? Bowels in or bowels out, like Judas? Oh, are you confused? Then I’ll decide for you if you’ll permit me?” The moment when Negan sees Maggie and has an expression of regret was shared by me. Specifically, Jess, you crossed my mind upon seeing it in that upon seeing Negan be ruthless, I am loving it. But then you see how it affects Maggie, and by extension, I thought of you, Jess, and how it might affect you, and I felt contrite. As you observed now Maggie’s been on the other side of Negan’s “protection” and it is something she’s likely going to ponder some. So, now it looks like Negan and Maggie are teaming up with this group, who hopefully managed to save their plants. Other highlights of the reaction were you expressing the nice sentiment you raised about Beth. I loved you commenting on the razorblades on the Croat’s helmet look like cute cat ears. Perhaps it is deliberate. After all, what's the point of insanity if one can’t have creative and artistic fun with it? And I loved it when you said, “What in the Mad Max is going on here?” To answer that question, it would appear Negan and Maggie are now... BEYOND THUNDERDOME!! Sorry, couldn’t resist. So rarely do I get an opportunity to make that jest in a way that makes sense. Thank you for a most lovely reaction, Jess.
