Absolutely love episode 7. It really gives Hera more time to shine as the awesome pilot that she is and how she really has almost perfected the craft of being a pilot. Episode 8 was also pretty cool to learn more about Sabine and her past a little more. I’m so happy you are continuing on with this series!

One of the best things about this show is it strikes a perfect balance between fanservice franchise lore and giving its own new elements a chance to shine. After frontloading the season with Ahsoka, Vader, and Rex, we then get the introduction of the new recurring villains original to the show, then the return of Hondo, then splitting the difference with the backstory of a minor ship class, then an episode devoted again to the backstory of new character Sabine. And it just keeps this up for the whole run, never leaning too far to either side.

They do juggle everything so well in Rebels, mixing nostalgia for the original trilogy and Clone Wars with Rex, Hondo and Ahsoka in it; with the larger Galactic Civil War story involving our new crew, who are all fantastic characters in their own right.

2023-05-31 22:04:17 Thanks for another wonderful reaction. I feel like I have to say this every time, not only for consistency, but also because it's true. I think all your reactions are wonderful. Now - Interesting - in that last part, when the Empire came over the intercom & said 'your ship has been identified as stolen - prepare to be boarded', it might just be co-incidence but it seems to be a subtle nod to the Classic Who story Frontier in Space, when The Master, pretending to be part of Earths security force, comes over the intercom and says exactly the same thing to the ship the (3rd) Doctor & Jo are in. Now I ask myself if it's a complete coincidence or a subtle nod, perhaps having been written by a WHO fan?. My suspicions were peaked because Star Wars is full of subtle nods to the OT, where lines are repeated or slightly altered (the obvious one being 'I have a bad feeling about this', but there are tons of others of varying subtleties too). Given I've watched the stories of Classic Who so many times, I virtually know the scripts off by heart, I picked up on this straight away. So I wonder. Am I reading too much into it or is it indeed a nod? There have been many such nods in Dr Who to Star Trek and vica versa - I think it's known as artistic license. If anyone knows for sure, let me know. Thanks & see you next time!

I’d say the reference being accidental or deliberate sounds plausible either way. I would guess more likely it’s a coincidence, yet it would not shock me if someone in the writer’s room threw it in as a deliberate nod to Classic Who, especially given the references/Easter eggs that get sprinkled throughout the show. It'd be neat if it was deliberate.

I'd like to think it was, but who knows. Plus David Tennant voiced a robot in an episode of The Clone Wars, and well, I won't spoil anything in case Jess is reading (plus I want to see whether it's something she picks up on), but if you've seen this series you'll know what I mean.

Oh yes, there is that to come, also I'm sure Star Wars has changed their hyperspace effects in all media these days that it looks like the Doctor Who intro with the TARDIS hurtling through space.
