2023-05-12 19:27:13 Thanks for another great and very honest reaction. This story is one which I remember when it was originally broadcast. I always recall the scene when the Collector turns into green gloop at the end and sinks into his chair. When I started collecting the videos I recall this was not one of the early releases of 4's era (they tended to get released completely randomnly) & I thought I had probably imagined or dreamed that scene because I found it so weird, so I was quite delighted when it eventually got released & was exactly as I had recelled it. For that reason it kind of sticks out, not so much as a favourite story but just as a memorable one. It was very geared towards Marxism - The Doctor in fact directly misquotes Marx (i.e 'you have nothing to lose but your claims', where Marx said chains). I love the fact that K-9 gets a proper story in this one also. Am unsure where it was filmed but some of those corridors seemed to stretch on forever! See you next time!

The Sun Makers is in my top 4 for this era (I don't count the first three stories of S15 because they were holdovers from the previous era and Robert Holmes was still script editor) and second fave of this season, so if this was only "middle of the road" for you and you thought the villains were too comical.... I'm very interested to see what you think of the rest of this era. Things are going to get a whole lot more comedic and campier from here....
