Ryan

Quite an OT actor feast these episodes, with James Earl Jones, Billy Dee Williams, and Ian McDiarmid. Now that the first season had shown people would be on board with the show, they clearly felt more comfortable bringing in the big guns.

Unfortunately its not Ian McDiarmid but Sam Witwer doing the Emperor here. Rebels always did try to get the OT actors in when they could, but weren't always successful. We do hear Ian later in the series though thankfully.

Thanks for an amazing reaction. In watching these two episodes, I find myself reminded of just what originally drew me to this franchise. Plus, who can argue that the original actors for Vader and Lando (or in Vaders case, voice actor) lend their voices to these two parts, which makes it all the more authentic IMO. So glad you're enjoying it. See you next time!

If you or anyone is interested, here uploaded to youtube is Ian McDiarmid in the final scene as the Emperor. Jess, if you wish to watch it, I advise you tread carefully with the algorithms/recommended videos so you don't get spoiled. https://youtu.be/wQQ27Xm8XZs

Yes, Rebels in particular is such a beautiful love letter to the original trilogy and hits all the notes of the original films in feel and nostalgia, as well as telling a coherent and gripping story of its own.

It's why Rebels is the best SW show for me as it feels closest to the OT and a natural continuation of what came before with TCW and the PT.

No it is Ian McDiarmid, they had him redo the Emperor's lines where Sam previously did them, so the version Jess is watching is most likely the version with Ian not Sam.

Yes totally. For me it's the closest thing to the OT we have in terms of the characters, the music and the vibe of it. Plus it also does a great job of linking to the prequels.

Its definitely Sam. I know Ian re-recorded the lines later and I believe he voices the Emperor here on some versions, but its not up on the Disney+ version.

I agree, I'm of the OT generation and think Rebels is the best thing in the entire franchise outside of Empire Strikes Back, with Clone Wars not far behind. Despite the lack of budget they were given for the show, Filoni and co worked wonders, and made a mini-masterpiece of a series.
