Definitely dreaded it for you, but this episode is such an accurate portrayal of what it’s like to lose a loved one - that worry and sadness of not being there for someone you care about. Bobby/Jim embodied that so well.

I knew this was going to be a rough episode for you. You have my sincere condolences. *hugs* (For me it was a mix of dread and looking forward... only because your emotional reactions... happy or sad... are great to watch). Still, I felt for you, because I know how much you love Bobby.

This is one heck of a coincidence, but Jim Beaver shared a behind-the-scenes photo from this episode on Twitter today. He's shown laughing with the actress who played Bobby's late wife in the episode. https://twitter.com/jumblejim/status/1618474025864531971

Jim Beaver is known for interacting with fans on social media. Maybe it's not a coincidence.

Well, it did make me wonder if he follows these reactions at all. 🤔

I am so anti spoilers, but this one was tempting. Of course I never would. I both dreaded it, but knew it would be very moving. It was. I am not surprised at all that this has you even mildly conptemplating quitting the show. I worried about that. Dean was me too. I can't imagine having talked about this ep after watching it the first time. He is tied for 2nd in my list of faves. I am glad he got an episode truly worthy of his character. It is still unforgivable that he died at all. Jim thought it was a one time gig, but he did give Bobby something so special they made him a regular. I know you watched this a while ago, but big hugs! I am still grieving like 10 years later, so no doubt you are. My favorite Bobby moment is probably when he tells Dean that he is better than his father. He just had a way of calling them out, especially Dean, with so much love and truth. He saw them. I wish he saw himself as well. He was 1000% the father he deserved. I am not a John fan, and the fact that he got between Bobby and Dean, just because Bobby loved Dean and took care of his needs first... it is close to the top of my reasons. Bobby is the best!

I remember watching this season as it originally aired. I cried for a good 15-30 minutes after this episode. I knew that this episode and the one before it were going to hurt for you. I know exactly how you feel Jess. One of my favorite Bobby moments (up to this episode) is when Dean and Sam call him to ask about dragons.

2023-04-05 02:01:49 First off, the 'boys' are adults. They'll be fine. Yeah, it will take time to get over his death, but they'll be okay. I was at the age of Dean when my mother died unexpectedly. I didn't really have my father, as he dropped out of sight for more than a decade. So yeah, fans forget that Sam & Dean are adults, not 'boys'. That doesn't mean I like the decision that TPTB made.

I think part of the reason they killed him off is to force Sam & Dean to stand on their own and not have Bobby as a crutch for lore, etc. But that's just MO.

Don't give up, there are many great characters that come on down the road. Including one at the end of this season, that I think you'll love.

This episode set a new record for the hardest I've ever cried during a tv show/at a fictional character's death. I had to pause it before it was even finished b/c I couldn't see the tv anymore through all the tears. My husband was asleep and I was trying not to wake him up so I just sobbed into a pillow for a good 10 minutes before I could start playing it again. And then I sobbed some more after it was over. I'm still not over it. As soon as we got into this season, I started dreading you getting to these two episodes. :( If it makes you feel any better, another reactor who's finished the series felt the same about Bobby and she came close to quitting the show during this season because she was so upset about losing him and just couldn't enjoy it anymore. But, she powered through and found her love/joy for the show again. I think it took until part way through season 8, but she did get there and she was very glad she stuck with it. Without giving spoilers, something happens in season 8 that brings in a new era of the show and it's honestly my favorite one. Also, some of my all-time favorite characters have yet to be introduced; one in particular that I think you'll come to love as much as the rest of us do. That character is up there with Bobby for me. If you don't already know about it, they released a book called Bobby Singer's Guide to Hunting. It's essentially a journal where he's documenting memories about his hunting days (it was obviously released before this). His history with Rufus is even in there. I'm reading it right now and it's really nice to have Bobby back again even in book form.
