Pretty much no one was happy with how this one turned out. It was the first time Terry Nation had written a story not involving the Daleks, and Baker and Sladen were so unimpressed that they entirely rewrote all their dialogue (he'd only do one more non-Dalek story). John Levene and Ian Marter were both hugely dissatisfied with how little they had to do, and by now were seriously missing the numerous cast and crew members that had departed since they'd first joined the show. Also, all the scenes between Crayford and Styggron were added later by Robert Holmes when the episodes ended up too short, with a very noticeably different writing style.
