Oh I haven't seen this yet! Can't wait!

Honestly, this could have stood being a full movie with more backstory for everyone. But that’s really my only complaint, and I especially love the base assumption that monster hunters are all some variety of bigoted asshole.

Well, I just caught this the other day myself, so that’s fortuitous timing. I’ve not read the comic of this, so my assessment is only covering the special itself. This entire thing was as you said, spooky, delightful, and surprisingly wholesome. Michael Giacchino has been one of my favorite film composers since I was introduced to his work in The Incredibles, and here I thought he did a fantastic job both directing and scoring this. I LOVED the overall aesthetic of this in that it was a perfect marriage of the Universal Horror films, and the Hammer Horror films. One specific manner this shows is the look of the werewolf felt like a mixture of Lon Chaney Jr as the Wolfman and Oliver Reed from The Curse of the Werewolf. Also, a shade or two of Werewolf of London. I was all for the looks of all the hunters, and the main villain felt like she would be right at home in a Hammer Horror film, and I loved it. Your reactions to as you put it, the carnage-fest and the gorey-gore were life giving, especially the main villain’s death, which got you to yell, “LET’S GO TED!!!!” To which I said in response, “Indeed.” When you commented about this being a bit bloody and on the gorier side for Marvel, I said, “You say that like it’s a bad thing.” It seems like music is proving most effective in getting me emotional as of late, because when this ended with Over the Rainbow, just hearing it, hearing Judy Garland singing it, I started crying. Bit hard to explain why. I loved the HELL out of this special. Only real complaint, and it’s a mild one, like I see Ryan said, I would have loved for this to have been a full-length movie. I'd have paid money to see it in the theater. Beyond that however, I loved everything about this. I’m in agreement with you that Marvel could do an annual thing of having spookier works such as this and I'd be here for it. Thank you so much for this most enjoyable reaction, Jess.

With how much you loved Ted, you'll probably want to know his comic series is called Man-Thing. And it's actually a really weird setup, as he's technically a transformed human, but he also can't remember being human so there's pretty much no point to that backstory. And it's pretty amazing how many engaging stories they were able to come up with for a pretty basic monster character.

Wow this is so cool. I honestly never would have watched this except that is was a reaction by you and it was so fun.

It truly means so much when people say they watched something because I reacted to it. Thank you so much.
