((Y/N)'s POV) Age: 5

I was on the lower deck with all the other kids and ladies getting ready for a big day because we were told that we would be landing on new land when the men said it was safe. We were on this big boat for a month, so I was ready to get off and really run around. I could see it now... Open fields, fresh lakes and rivers to swim in, trees to climb, and fresh food that isn't just fish. I don't like fish, but Mother Gloria of the church makes me eat it or else I could get sick and die. I already had to suck on lemons every day, but I would just love to have fresh strawberries or something sweet... Or anything that's not a fish, lemon, bread, tea, oranges, or anything like that.

(Jenny's POV)

The humans were bringing in more people and were already sending someone to bring back more from that big boat. They thought the fire we started last night in their camp was an accident, but we couldn't keep up those kinds of attacks forever. Someone almost got killed and ended up over a fire, but all they got was a chunk of a tree. I looked at a puddle and saw my reflection while holding my chest because I was the one who almost got killed.

Jenny-*Sigh*... What now? If they all come then we are stuck with them.

Chief-... Let them come.

Jenny-What?

Chief-We go back to tell the flock that we launch our biggest attack and we focus on destroy's their boom sticks and weapons, and then go after the men still willing to fight by leading them into a trap.

Jenny-What about the rest?... Chief you heard the messenger, there are innocent women and children on that boat. They are basically hatchlings in our terms.

Chief-They are the enemy.

Jenny-They are only migrating!

Chief-It is either them or us! If you have a problem then think of something and tell it to the others!

Jenny-I-!

Chief-You were not the only one to almost die or die by their hands!

He left me and I held my head in frustration. Killing and hurting the ones solely responsible for causing harm and trying to take our land is one thing, but doing the same to those who are merely observing it is complicated.

(Timsekip 4 Hours)

The plan is clear. We destroy the weapons first in a surprise attack, the fire spreads again and while they try to put it out we do small attacks that lead them into spiked pitfall traps in the dark. That is for man and any other attackers, but as for the innocent who were brought here... without learning how to farm or hunt or anything to live off the land... They will die in time as we leave them. I voiced what I thought to my tribe members, but...

Turkey#1-Jenny, you are a fierce warrior with a kind heart, but man is too dangerous.

Chief-Indeed, but without one to teach them what little they know so far and a lack of weapons, it will only be a matter of time.

Jenny-So we just let them all die when they are not even a threat anymore?!

Turkey#2-I saw the women and children come onto land and the children of men grow up. Evil and greedy like the rest. They will chop down the trees and ruin water to poison the land that is rightfully ours by the elders.

Jenny-They are raised that way! Surely they can't all be capable of evil or that's like saying the same about our brothers and sisters that go against us.

Ranger-Why do you care so much about them?! The ones that hurt us and almost killed you!

It was a long and one-sided discussion, but then...

Jenny-This problem is simply not going to go away because there are more out there somewhere! We can't keep doing this forever or we are no better than what we say man is!

Chief-... She's right.

Jenny-And-!... What?

Chief-More men will come like more came now and no sign of their own will make it harder each time... So we set an example.

It sounds like he didn't want to slaughter and leave the rest to die anymore, but I don't like the way he put it.

Chief-We do the attack and then take who is left as prisoners and their kind won't attack their own.

Everyone seemed to like this idea, but I tried to see it for what it actually was.

Jenny-Prisoners?... You want to enslave them?

Chief-This is as close you are going to get to helping them... There are 2 courses of action after the attack... We leave them... or take them.

I could try to argue, but I saw how everyone felt about this plan and I know it will be messy at first, but I believe that our tribe can learn to forgive someday... This is the best I was going to get.

(Timeskip To Night)

((Y/N)'s POV)

We found more fruit today and it actually tasted good with the jam that we put on our toasted and freshly made bread. I was so tired from running and playing today, but the rules did get in the way of the fun. We had to sleep in tents tonight, but better than a smelly old boat. While we were eating, I didn't understand why were not celebrating or something. We just found new land and a new home where they said we can be free, so no more rules.

(Y/N)'s mind-Why can't we do whatever we want now? That was the reason we left.

*BOOM*

I looked at a part of the camp where that loud explosion came from and saw something was on fire. I wanted to go see, but Mother Miranda made all of us stay put to eat while they put the fire out.

Kid#1-Hey, is that the shed where they kept the gunpowder and guns? *whisper*

Kid#2-Oh my god... Well, I saw another shed of guns at-. *whisper*

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

We heard screaming now and this was getting scary. If those were all of our guns then we can't shoot things to hunt or protect ourselves. More screams could be heard so the adults got the guns we still had and went after the people attacking us, but there were no gunshots for a while. Suddenly, a bunch could be heard, so Mother Miranda made all kids without parents get around her.

Miranda-... Hello?!... Is anyone still out there?! *echo*

My body was shaking and most of us were starting to cry. This has to be the work of monsters, like the ones told in storytime on the boat. Mother Miranda said that monsters do not exist, but I don't believe her anymore.

*Rustle*

Some of us screamed and when the thing came out of the bushes... It was just a turkey.

Nobody moved, but I squeezed into the group a little more because I was on the outside... It was just looking at us and in the silence, you could hear the fire crackling, the sound of your own breathing, and the other sounds of the night. It started to walk over to the fire and... grabbed a log somehow before it threw it at the tents which made me and a few others flinch.

Man-Nobody. Move. A muscle.

That's when we saw more turkeys come out and they looked mad.

Woman-AAAAHHHHH!!!

A lady ran, but something was thrown to wrap around her legs and make her fall while other turkeys did something or used blow darts. Everyone was screaming and running, including me.

(Y/N)'s mind-They are just turkeys! What kind of turkeys are they?!

While I was running, I made it into the woods with others, but the adults were too fast and getting caught anyway. I made it to a lake and tried to hide behind a rock, but I remembered a tracking lesson from an old hunter... Footprints, but there is nowhere else to hide and I was out of breath from running, screaming, and crying.

(Y/N)-*Hyperventaling* *cough* *cough* *sniffle* *hyperventaling*.

Suddenly, something stuck into the back of my neck and I fell sideways into the sand. I was facing the rock and could not move, but I could only try to cry. I then felt feathers petting my head, but it only made it harder to breathe.

???-*Shhhh*... Sorry, it came to this.

Some powder was thrown over me and when I breathed it in... I fell asleep.

(Jenny's POV)

This is the third human I spotted and knocked out, but this one was a (H/L) (H/C) child having a panic attack. I hated this plan and wanted to send them back to their boat and leave to never return and have a chance at life like any other living thing, but instead, we have been reduced to this. I was able to drag this child out of the sand and onto a sled to pull them more smoothly with other humans that we captured tonight. I got help on the way and saw we mostly just captured children with very few adults. Just then the chief came up to me when he saw I was still against this plan and a few others were clearly with me on that.

Chief-It's for the best of the flock.

Penny-Of course it is.

I walked away from him and helped pull the sled all the back to our camp. It took hours and some of us had to switch to rest from the heavy lifting, but we finally made it to our hidden village and could build outside again. I was just sad that the first thing we built was cages for the prisoners in. Helping them get 3 into one cage before moving to the next was mentally exhausting more than anything. Soon we made it to the last 5 and I saw the boy I found by the bay. I already saw my tribe picking their slaves and the adults were first to be picked for labor.

Turkey-Hey!

Jenny-Huh?

Turkey-Are you going to help me with this one or not?

He tied a knot around his neck to collar him and then tied a vine to it, but this is something we do to traitors of the flock and he did nothing wrong. To think we would stoop this low out of fear and enslave hatchings to man. That's when I thought of something and had enough.

Turkey-If you're not going to help then get someone else over-.

Jenny-Let him go. He's mine.

Turkey-... What?

Jenny-I caught this one, he's mine by law of the tribe if I place a claim on him. Give me the leash and leave us.

Turkey-He's a hatching. What kind of labor would you have them even-?

I grabbed the wing that had to leash to make him drop it, pinned him to the ground, and was ready to break it.

Jenny-If I have to repeat myself one! More! Time! I will break both of your wings for touching my property without my permission, and I 'will' make it slow and painful!

Turkey-Y-You were against-!

Jenny-GO!!!

I let him go and he ran off to go tell the others what had happened, but I knew I had a claim, so he couldn't do anything. Plus he knows if we are to fight, I am the better fighter. I dragged the boy to his own cage and locked him in before I started to set up my tent out here. Later, others came back with supplies from the man's camp and there was something as hard as rock like the boom sticks they had. I used some of it since it would be a waste and it sounded like they were going to make the adults make more of this stuff. It could help us advance in weapons and structure for the flock. Meanwhile, I looked at the boy I caught and went into her cage for a bit to pet him and take this moment to really observe Man.

Jenny's mind-No fur except on their head or any feathers, but still soft... Very smooth... They could use a proper bath... Wait a minute.

I think I recognize him from playing in the woods innocently while enjoying nature without destroying it. He was by himself too and climbed trees and chased butterflies and such. During the attack, he was in the big group of children around a female instead of with his parents, so I don't know if he has a mother or father. Despite all of that...

Jenny-You're playful... Probably won't be that way for a while.

I petted him some more and put his head on my lap to cuddle him and he felt cold. I went to the pile of things from the camp we raided and found a cloth of some kind that felt a little fuzzy, so I took it back and covered him up.

Jenny-You're my property now, but it doesn't have to be a bad thing. ~

I know he can't hear me, but I spent a few hours in hear with him and he did look cute and snuggled up into me. I don't know how I feel about my flock doing this, so I got another one of these things for me and my tent since it kept him warm. When I was trying to be alone, a few others came over to harass him, so I sent them away with a very stern warning, but there were some who just wanted to look... I didn't like them being close to him, but they had their own slaves to get back to and they picked children too. I wrapped myself up for warmth and fell asleep pretty quick since this was a pretty long day and tomorrow will not be any shorter.

(Timeskip To Morning)

((Y/N)'s POV)

I woke up to the sunlight in my eyes, so I used the blanket to cover my eyes before I remembered a really crazy dream last night. We were attacked and captured by turkeys in a surprise attack.

(Y/N)'s mind-That was weird... I wonder what Mother Miranda would think.

I peeked outside the blanket then saw... wooden bars and felt something around my neck. I got up to see I was in a cage and fear struck my heart to make me cry again.

(Y/N)'s mind-That wasn't a dream?!... THAT WAS REAL?!?!?!

My breathing got faster and faster until I heard something.

???-Hey, it's ok! I'm not going to hurt you!

I looked to see who that was and when I did... I turkey was holding the cage bars and looking at me.

???-Just try to calm down.

I felt so dizzy and fell back to the ground before everything went dark.
