Edit: I wasn't totally happy with the original version of the map, so I've updated it a bit. I'm pretty happy with this version. Enjoy!

Hey all!

This month's Just Passing Through will focus on a single city, Valtoria, the City of Canals, which is also the setting for this month's adventure release, Phantasmal Killer. I'll be building this out over the next few weeks. The physical book will launch alongside Phantasmal Killer's book.

Here are the details:

Discover the enthralling world of Just Passing Through 5: Valtoria, the City of Canals, a richly detailed fantasy setting reminiscent of a mythical Venice, designed for your fantasy roleplaying campaign. In Valtoria, the stark divide between wealth and poverty sets the stage for a city on the edge of war, perfect for narratives infused with horror, mystery, and a fight for equality. Explore its myriad districts and winding waterways, populated with a diverse array of NPCs, each adding depth and intrigue to your adventure."

Get ready for a series of captivating adventure hooks in the city of canals. Face the terror of the Phantasmal Killer, a merciless murderer who uses illusions to scare victims to death. Uncover the sinister machinations of the Masked Conspirators, intent on upsetting the city's delicate power balance. Track down the elusive Canal Beast, lurking in the shadows of the waterways, and brave the depths of the Sunken Archives, where forgotten knowledge awaits the daring.

Just Passing Through 5: Valtoria, the City of Canals offers more than just a backdrop; it's a comprehensive setting teeming with potential for thrilling encounters and profound storytelling. Ideal for GMs and players seeking to enrich their fantasy roleplaying campaigns with a world where every corner hides a new mystery, and every canal leads to the heart of adventure.

So often publishers give us cities without adventures. I struggle to put together adventures when given just a setting. I’m looking forward to this.

A thought struck me about the most northern docking area, near the walled area and next to the purple buildings. Most places where ships dock is in a port or harbor to protect it from currents or severe weather. There's no protection there, so there is likely something to make that dock worth it, like perhaps the wind and storms always come from the south or other side of the island, or it's magically protected perhaps, or something else. They could be just temporary docks, where ships dock, unload and leave again quickly. I don't know that much about harbors and ports. Anyway just a thought.
