June 2022 Announcements (Patreon)

Hey all!

Happy June. An exciting month is in store as we're rolling out some big changes. I detail some of those below. Additionally, I've got updates for BroadSword, Hand of the Eight, and more.

Tier Changes

This month I will roll out some major tier changes. For those of you "grandfathered" in, you won't lose anything listed under your current tier heading, so no worries. If anything, I'll be adding a few things. Some of the changes we plan to roll out are detailed below. Keep in mind that these aren't yet set in stone.

Return of Copper Tier

The $3 Copper Tier will make its glorious return, offering more or less the same benefits as it did before. The only thing that it will not get is some of the maps we offer here on the page. Those will be restricted to the higher-level tiers, likely Silver+.

The copper tier will receive the following benefits:

  • All Dungeons & Lairs style adventures in full-color and print-friendly format.
  • All DMDave original monsters.
  • Discord benefits.
  • 5% discount on the DMDave store.

[Silver+] All Map Variants

You've probably noticed that I'm now doing maps here on DMDave. This will likely continue into the future. Of course, I've got a lot of catching up to do with my contemporaries. In the meantime, maps will be locked for the Silver+ tiers. The only exception will be the free gridded versions, which will be, well... free. 

This is still a new feature, so expect it to evolve to better fit you guys' needs.

[Electrum+] Educational Videos and Classes

Starting this month, I will start a series of educational videos and classes similar to the "How to Write a 5e Adventure" series I did last year. This will be restricted to patrons of Electrum Tier and up. I plan to first do the video live with whoever wants to join us and then publish them here on the Patreon. 

This is still a new feature, so expect it to evolve to better fit you guys' needs.

[Electrum+] BroadSword-Only Adventures and Mega-modules

Another major bonus for Electrum patrons, you will get adventures that will only feature in BroadSword Monthly and nowhere else other than the obligatory Roll20 version. Plus, the final "mega-module" versions of the Dungeons/Lairs adventures will only go to patrons of Electrum+—these will be the versions of the adventure that feature all the components in one, easy-to-read/print document, versus individual parts.

This is still a new feature, so expect it to evolve to better fit you guys' needs.

[Electrum+] BroadSword Schedule and Updates

With the rising prices of shipping, printing, and labor combined with a hectic content schedule, we made the tough decision to limit BroadSword to once every 6-8 weeks. This will help keep it viable without having to reduce the quality of the product. Hopefully, the new exclusive content, tactics content, and video classes will help alleviate some of that pain. 

BroadSword #22 and #23 are printing now and will go out to those of you who were owed them as normal. 

Expect #24 to fall into the new cycle which starts this month. It's currently being formatted.

[Electrum+] Gamemaster's Survival Guide Tactics on DMDave Adventures

A few of you have requested this, so I'm going to go ahead and do it. Starting this month, the Gamemaster's Survival Guide content will make its way to this Patreon. I will release them in a single post in the collected book formats for Electrum+ patrons. If you're a patron of DMDave Gamemaster's Survival Guide, you still get the benefit of voting, making requests, and getting daily content. But this is for those of you who prefer the curated approach.

This is still a new feature, so expect it to evolve to better fit you guys' needs.

[Platinum+] More Games, Requests, and Content Club

I will continue games on the server (once I'm done writing Hand of the Eight). Additionally, Platinum members will get requests for content fulfilled (factoring in my writing schedule, of course). Likely, the "Platinum Request" packet will be full of one-page content like monsters, Omeria lore, subclasses, etc. Sort of a "grab bag." Additionally, I hope to have a little more hands-on with platinum subs in the writing/creation side of the educational classes. That way you can share your content with me and I can share my expert feedback.

This is still a new feature, so expect it to evolve to better fit you guys' needs.

Hand of the Eight

A bunch of you have asked about Hand of the Eight. I'm happy to say it's near completion. I put my games on hold temporarily to finish it up and now that Jack is out of school, I don't have to do the "Jack shuffle" every day. 

The only thing in the way, of course, is Stranger Things Part 4. ;)

I expect to give another announcement about it late this week or early next.

This is great! Really most excited about the educational videos and classes. I really enjoyed the "How to Write a 5e Adventure" class as well as the Content Professional course. The return of the Copper Tier is also a good move. While I'm Electrum it is nice for people to be able to get their foot in the door for only $3 a month.

This all sounds great. The only thing I thought about when you asked questions about the tiers was a different buckler tier. I answered very late though. My thinking was basically that everybody on higher than silver tier could benefit from a post that gives them all of thier monthly stuff like the asset packs included. Mainly because I'm very late and keep forgetting to add all the manifest URLs lol

Yeah, I agree. And since 2/3 of our patrons are copper, that probably means that's what folks want haha

I was worried when I started printing them out and couldn't find the rest when I organized everything 😅. Still a little disappointed with the new format for D&amp;L .. Preferred the old one, but adjusting to the new one. It is cleaner, but a bit too sterilized to be honest, without the aged parchment look. Always exceptional quality written content, never disappointed though! Let's be honest, we'd be hard pressed to find a better content creator that churns out quality content at a breakneck pace that you do Dave! I only wish I had but a small percent of your creative genius, but hey, money well spent! No regrets! Keep up the fantastic work team! Now shut up and take my money! 🤣🤣🤣
