I'm also a bit "split" here... I can see that the time invested in paste this and solve the looking "junctures" is more or less the time invested in cleaning support (but the expense in PLA will be less as you can avoid print the supports)... I thing I prefere support with full

Please, please, please share the "split up" version of your models. I *really* prefer printing and gluing them. I get much better print fidelity. :) This guy is AWESOME by the way!!!

Thanks. Don't worry will definitely do split up version :) I know different people like to print their figures in different ways.

Duncan, maybe you could find natural "seams" like the miniature mold folks do and use those. If you found a way to make glue points natural seams then it would be more natural as well as easier to glue I think. Just my 2 cents - I know there's a lot that goes into this, but I think the lost detail by printing flat often is too valuable.

Duncan_shadow

Great idea, I use to work as a mould maker and we did just that. The difference is if you are cutting rubber moulds you don't have to worry about straight lines. To get the split lines hidden within natural seems the you wont be able to have a flat area to print on ( unless its a hard edged vehicle or something like that ) I'll keep working at this I'm sure there is a happy medium between easy to print and best end results. Thanks for the input it definitely gives be some food for thought.

Looks great:) a quick question, are you using flashprint with your finder?

Duncan_shadow

I was using flash print I do some times go back to it, but for the most part I use simplify 3d now.

Tomas Ingvarsson

Aha :) i'll have to check out simplify3d, I use Cura for my anycubic i3 and I get much better results than the flashprint/finder Combo.

Duncan_shadow

I've heard good things about Cura now that they have updated how you can do supports. I have been really liking Simplify 3d, the supports come off really easily.
