One year done, next year starts. Except as of today I am officially self-employed. :)

Week 1: The usual stuff. Bugfixing and then on the technical side we have the integration of the battle HUD rework. 

There will also be a little bit more content in the real world. As I mentioned last time, currently pumping out novel knowledge doesn't trigger any real world scenes. There will be some more scenes of Aura coming to more and more despise what she used to love as her precious memories of the good times sink to the bottom of her subconciousness. In Roya, expect a new passive to accompany that.

If I have enough time, I will also take a look at implementing the memory change for the Daily Life in the library club. This will then trigger the last book related scene and also with it the final book related negative passive.

Week 2: We will stay in the real world, but shift focus to George. Alicia vowed to double her efforts to destroy Aura's and George's relationship and so she shall. Expect more highly elaborate and petty plots that make you wonder if Alicia's brain is either galaxy or pea brained sized. I guess in a way we are just continuing the Homewrecking quest in a different setting :'D

Week 3: Then we shall return to Roya once more. Here I plan to work on the non-focused route to get to Winterfall. Aura will have to help a Captain get back his ship and crew using money, favors, connections and of course lewds. The solution which uses only money for everything is also one of the big 3 planned big money checks in the entire game.

The quest will most likely consist out of 4 sub objectives. 1 for getting back the ship and 3 for assembling back the crew, 1 for each sailor. Two of the sailors will be rather normal without much lewds going on, one will involve some sort of rigged gambling game at the Seagull tavern. Of course with the ability of betting something more physical than just money :)

I don't think I will be able to finish the quest within the week, so I just wrote "Start the quest" into the project plan. It's mostly about getting the general setup done.

Week 4: In the last week, we will have two objectives:

  • 1. Initialize the Magic Academy. I probably won't be able to already add learnable spells but I plan to get the basic setup done including adding the anchor point for paying / skipping paying the tuition fees. The tuition fees for the Magic Academy is the second large money check in the game and of course you can skip it.... By agreeding to join a certain "study" that won't fully turn into Aura's benefit. I will elaborate on this later when I discuss our Assisstant Writer Absurdities next writing commission.
  • 2. Finish up the last area of the Nephlune Vault. You may have noticed a strangely protruding tile in the Nephlune Vault, at that point you will be able to dive underwater. It will be a minor underwater dungeon with a miniboss at the end.

Art Commissions

Currently, our artist Emubi is continuing on the Rose And Richard Sex CG. After he is done with that, my plan is to finish off the last remaining H-CGs from Chapter 2-A from the Bunny Suit Loving Magister.

And then, as I mentioned in some previous post, we will be commissioning the last set of appearance changes for Aura. These will be final for the purposes of 1.0, but in 2.0 we might consider adding some additional optional mental changes at the very end to go further. 

In March we then return to focus on H-CG production. Currently, we have caught up a lot, so the pool here is really small and mostly contains the Homewrecking scenes. That being said, by then we will most likely have some more scenes that need illustration, among others the scenes Absurdity will be writing on.

Writing Commissions

As mentioned in this month's project plan, Absurdity will be writing the scenes when Aura decides to skip the tuition money check at the Magic Academy. She will take part in a "study" from the headmaster who is connected to one of the human characters from the Festival, Roland. The headmaster will recognice Aura as the Hero and sell her out. The "study" will be disguised as a magic empowerment ritual (and Aura will get stronger!) but is in reality a sort of brainwashing chair event.

There will be three stages, over the course of which Aura will get a new lewd passive that grows stronger each time. The lewd passive has not been decided yet, my current proposal would be the installation of a desire for anal sex. On the highest level, Aura would need to cum from her ass to reset the negative effects from the debuff but would only be able to do so in events from Roland, who will be available in Verdaux.

What I just described may of course still change quite a bit, I only recently discussed it with Absurdity, so lets see what he will come up with.

Business Side

Besides the actual game work, there's quite a lot of business side stuff left on my table. A lot of the people I needed to call or hand forms to weren't available late December. On the bright side, that allowed me to not get distracted with the details of running a business last month, on the other hand, it's not like they disappeared or something :'D. 

I think managed to take care of health insurance related things which was the most important outstanding issue. I still have a couple insurances to look into that are usually mandatory when you are employed in Germany, but are not when you are self-employed.

I also still have one last obligation from my previous day time job employer where I need to prepare and give a presentation on the 12th of Janurary. This will help out in case all of this suddenly goes side-ways that I have a secured place I can return to. 

Update Schedule

Starting next month there will be some minor updates to the update schedule. 

Somehow I feel like my work schedule might not be the most healthy in the long-term :'D

In order to avoid burnout, my goal is to set myself some sensible limitations to approach a 40h/week and 30 vacation days / year work limitation that is usual for full time jobs in Germany. I will give my current plans in the following part. 

Most likely, I will move away from late-time deployments for the daily and the prerelease so I can work 4h on the game in the morning and then 4h in the afternoon. This way the evening would be free-time for me. So expect the daily to maybe move to something like 13:13 UTC so it will trigger when I eat lunch and the prerelease to 16:16 UTC or something like that.

It's possible that I might move the prerelease from Friday to Thursday so I can address bugs on Friday and build a hotfix if necessary before the weekend starts.

There will probably be no more 5-week long dev updates. If there are 5 weeks between two updates, I will take 1 week off. Last year we had 4 months with 5 dev week updates. So this would yield 20 vacation days, which is probably not quite where I should be to fully maintain my health but should close enough until we reach 1.0.

I will decide on the exact details by next month. I initially already wanted to adjust things this month but the business related stuff is still forcing me to put in a considerable amount of extra hours. 

Besides the insurance stuff I mentioned above, I also had to review all of my finances from the past year and create my revenue report and everything. Ahhhhhh....... 

Well, I expect this to become easier as I gather more experience of being self-employed. Hopefully then everything becomes more of a routine instead of an epic boss battle against German Bureaucracy.

I agree, set a good work-life balance. This is work now, so you need some time away from roya.

Will the final appearance of Aura look more drastic than the previous one?

I don't think so but since haven't yet created the design and I only the elements I'm not yet sure how drastically different it will actually look.

Staking lewds in a game of chance could be exciting with actual RNG, especially if there are long-term consequences.
