Peanutcheese sent me the following a few hours ago:

Hello Archvaldor, I found this on Arlaeus' 1-60 in one sitting stream. When a hunter pet in classic wow kills a mob for a level 1 guy tagging mobs, it gives full xp to the level 1 guy tagging. Mob tagging was long thought not to be a viable strategy for leveling, but this guy proves that wrong. The reason this works (presumably) is because when you as a hunter send your pet on a mob and deal zero damage to it, in a solo situation, and your pet kills the mob, you gain zero xp. So this smart lad is abusing that to do mobtagging with. He got to level 16 in one hour and twenty minutes which is absolute world record time.

The link to the stream is:  twitch.tv/arlaeus (it is active at the time of posting)

I experimented with trying to replicate Arlaeus's strategy. It turns out to be a little more complicated than is apparent.

I tried using a level 8 warlock imp to kill a mob tagged by a level 1 warrior, this does not work-the xp for a kill was scaled down to 6 xp. What you would expect.

After viewing the stream for a while it seemed that it is important for the level 1 to be in a group. The following strategy did seem to work:

1. Form a group with two level 1's. (I did this in Northshire Abbey)

2. One of these level 1's tags a mob.

3. Level 8 warlock (not in the group) uses imp to kill tagged mob.

4. Level 1's receive 25 xp. This is full xp (it would be 50 for a solo player, so divide by 2 for the two players in the group).

This seems to prove the principle that pet kills on tagged mobs give full xp for players in a group.

I then tried:

5. I l moved the lock and level 1 to Goldshire, leaving one level one in Goldshire. Again, the level 1 tagged a level 1 mob and the warlock imp finished it off. The level 1 player received full 50 xp (no /2 division for the other player).

Naturally you would ideally do this with a level 60 pet-using class since a level 60 pet will one-shot low-level mobs. This should be MUCH faster than conventional leveling strategies including boosting strategies.
