WoW Retail, Mine Rare Ore Very Quickly For Short Periods (Patreon)

The dungeon "Halls Of Stone", located in Storm Peaks, Northrend,  has an interesting gold-farming opportunity for short periods of play which gives a high return in terms of gold per minute.

The area around the boss Krystallus, which has a heavy geology theme, contains two mining nodes. These can spawn saronite, cobalt or titanium. Titanium is one of the most valuable ores in the game at an average of 200g per ore-and up to 8 (1600G) ores drop from a node. 

Titanium is valued because it is a rare spawn-it appears at what is normally a saronite or cobalt mining node randomly, with a low probability. However we can dramatically increase this chance by reseting the dungeon repeatedly.

The simplest approach to this farm is to mine the two nodes, kill Krystallus, who can also be mined (he is a huge walking rock), exit the dungeon and reset the instance. Provided you are getting decent rng this is a pretty good farm. If you are getting saronite spawns however it isn't as attractive. This basic approach is fine for very fast classes such as monks, druids and demon hunters.

A trick that can be used here is to use a "scrying" ability. A scrying ability is something such as Shaman farsight, or a jewelcrafter's scrying roguestone, or best of all, priest mind vision. With mind vision the command /tar kr will allow you to see through the eyes of Krystallus, and both nodes are then visible on the mini-map.

Use your scrying ability to determine if the nodes are saronite. This is the least valuable of all possible nodes and the most frequently occurring. If both nodes are saronite it isn't worth your time to collect them, reset the instance. If a titanium node spawns, then it almost certainly is worth collecting them. 

If one rich saronite node spawns or a cobalt ore spawns it might be worth collecting-it depends on the price of these ores on your realm and your personal minimum gold per minute threshold. If two of either spawn it probably is worthwhile collecting them but, again, it is a personal decision. 

(Note you also get things like crystallized earth from the nodes which add up). 

This farm is ideal for when you want to do something to earn a high amount of gold in a few minutes but don't wish to commit to a long farming session. You do blow your instance lockout very quickly using this method so it is mutually exclusive with other instance farming methods. 

Whether you run through ten times or use the scrying method you will need a method to exit the dungeon quickly after you kill Krystallus. The scenario exit method or the "leave group" method are fine. 

In addition to the gold this is a very good way to level up Northrend mining if you do not have it. You will need to visit Jedidiah Handers at Dalaran in order to activate Northrend mining.
