IMDD CHAPTER 115 [NOVEL] (Patreon)

Eva's eyes were wide in disbelief as she stared at the contents of the email from her grandfather. She felt her stomach churn with anger and frustration, her mind racing with memories of the way they had treated her since she was a child and that very day when they turned their backs on her. How could they be so audacious? How could they expect her to just forgive and forget everything they had done to her just because they had apologized?
She scoffed at the idea, shaking her head in disbelief. The nerve of them, thinking that they could just toss her aside like some disposable pawn and then come back, expecting her to still be at their beck and call when it suited them!
The memories from that fateful day when her ‘beloved’ grandfather had shamed her in front of everyone, the nauseating moment when she had stumbled upon Julian fucking with Jessa, and that moment when she had learned of the slanderous rumors being spread about her - all of that played out like a vivid slideshow in her mind. Each memory stung like a freshly inflicted wound, reminding her of the humiliation and pain she had endured over and over again.
But as the memories washed over her like a raging tide, the wicked desire for retribution which had been like a sleeping volcano for a while now, awakened deep within her. It seemed it was finally high time for them to pay for their sins!
A wicked grin crept across her lips as she reveled in the thought of the sweet revenge that awaited them all. The fire of vengeance blazed even brighter and stronger within her, threatening to consume her entirely, but she welcomed it with open arms. After all, revenge was a dish best served cold, and she was ready to serve it up with a side of malice.
“What are you smiling about, darling?” Gage’s voice echoed through the spacious office.
Eva looked up and saw Gage standing there, leaning against the door with his signature stance and devilish smirk. She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she had not even heard Gage enter the room until he spoke.
“You look like you’re about to launch your all-out-attack on someone.” Gage teased though she felt like he was not actually teasing at all.
Clearing her throat, Eva bit on her lip. But then she suddenly felt a surprising excitement to show Gage what she had just read. To share with him the good news she had just received. Well, she would call it good news because her high and mighty grandfather actually stooped so low as to beg her to return after all they had done to her. It was almost comical.
Unable to contain her excitement anymore, she gestured for him to come closer, her smirk still lingering on her face. Gage sauntered towards her and then bent over, from his position behind her, his face so close to hers as he read through the contents of the email.
Eva waited and made sure to stare at his face because she wanted to see his reaction. She wanted to catch every single nuance of his expression, not willing to miss any out.
Gage chuckled. "How pathetic of them to beg you to go back like this," Gage said, his voice filled with amusement and also a hint of disdain. "They really have no shame."
Eva really could not help but laugh along with him. Somehow, this feeling was just so good. And she was certain that the feeling was even more heightened because she had someone she could share the very same sentiments with. That in itself, to her, was so priceless that she could not help but reach out and grab two fistfuls of Gage’s shirt and yanked him into her embrace.
Her hands wound around his neck as she hugged him quietly. She just did not know how else to react right now. She did not know how to express to him how thankful she was that he was physically here with her, laughing and feeling good with her as though he too, had a deep-seated ill feeling towards the Youngs.
Gage simply let her revel in the atmosphere and did not speak for a few moments.
“It feels damned good knowing those fools are now groveling at your feet after all they had put you through, Eva.” He broke the silence and Eva finally let go of him, her blue eyes wet with emotion even as she was still smirking wickedly.
“It feels f**king good. Feels even better because you’re here, feeling good with me.”
Gage brought the tip of his tongue to the side of his lips and just stared deeply into her eyes. “I have already told you, darling. I’m your partner in crime. Whoever makes you laugh, I'll pat him on the back. Whoever makes you cry, I'll ensure they would cry rivers of blood. Your enemy is my enemy, understood?”
