As I've said, I originally made a bikini for Julie several years ago as a commission, and I really liked it...but I always felt it wasn't quite the style I imagined for her. So I gave that design to Amy, and instead modeled up the new design you see before you now.

Sure, as far as designs go it's actually pretty standard 😅 but I really liked the addition of the sarong, which is the cloth-skirt-thing she has on. In order to make it, I learned a pretty sweet new technique.
Basically, you place two subdivided planes in front and behind her, connect them with a few edges, and then run a cloth simulation that uses the "sewing" feature, which means those connecting edges pull tight and your fabric essentially tightens itself around the form.

It's a tricky, imperfect process, but very satisfying when it does work, and makes modeling skin-tight clothing notably more fun (and with better results - notice how much more realistic and clothlike the sarong looks compared to the bikini). I still had to edit it and stitch things together and manually model the knot and stuff, but I'm pretty pleased with the result.

I've made notable progress on the beach environment, though I am definitely cutting corners. I'll share more info on that sometime soon.

Back to it! ~💕🎶
