And here are the inks. For both pencil and ink I use an app called Comic Draw. It does color as well but not as well as I’d like . For doing black and white comic pages it is simple and perfect as far as I’m concerned.

Comic Draw does ellipses, circles and straight lines for me, and spot blacks are filled with one tap. I enjoy using the Zipatone brushes and I sometimes use a chalk brush for stone texture. The one thing it doesn’t do well, or at all, is automatic curves wit a pen tool. There isn’t one, so I still lay a French curve on the iPad screen and do it the old fashioned way.

It took me the first four ( of five) issues of Cosmo to get really used to working digitally and overall it does allow me to work faster. I used to rake an average of four hours to draw a penciled page traditionally, and it probably takes more like 6 to do a penciled and inked page digitally. BUT, that gets me a completely finished page that also doesn’t need to be scanned and cleaned up.

I’m showing off this first page to everyone, but the feast of the issue is for my paying patrons. Thanks as always for your support!
