Disease is spreading. The Cylons and the Galactica deal with very different outbreaks and whoa. This episode definitely left a lot of loose ends and was a very effective episode!

Ron Moore didn't last long on Star Trek Voyager due to his dismay at how little anyone else on the crew seemed to care about making a quality product and were happy to just coast on the strength of the Trek brand while putting minimum effort into the scripts. Supposedly the last straw came when he asked a writer who'd been on the show longer how B'Elanna would handle a particular situation, and got the response "No one cares, do whatever you want." So now that he was in charge of his own show, he was determined to put real effort into staying true to the characters, including having them not just be magically recovered from deeply traumatic events by the next episode. And if that meant risking the show getting bogged down for weeks on end while the characters worked their shit out, so be it if the alternative was insulting the audience who'd long been mocking that kind of thing. And it was very much appreciated by the fans at the time.

Yes! It would have been really weird (especially this far into the show) if Starbuck and Tigh were just completely back to normal. I actually get really annoyed when shows change everything and then somehow are completely back to the status quo. I remember a show wrote off two main characters (at least one of them dead) and then brought them back the next year as if nothing happened.
