A psychological thriller that made me question what was real at nearly every turn and an ending that has me immediately excited to go through the film again. The imagery, and the performance were fantastic in Shutter Island!

Not a terrible film to watch at 2:30 in the morning :)

In the intro, you sounded like me. I always find it hard to do anything at night...too worried I'd bother someone, No matter how far away their room is from mine. lol

So accurate! I am super confident, I could have just talked normally, but it didn't feel right! At any rate, not likely to do any more middle of the night reactions.

To be honest, I am undecided what I really think of this film. I cannot stand the last line of his character. It could be said as, "I'd rather die in a lie than face the truth." Really upsetting that the psychiatrist would hear that and not do anything.

Definitely a disturbing mindset. I have to assume that the doctor wasn't sure if he was faking or not. He said teddy at the end, no Andrew, or Laeddis. Although, if there is any doubt maybe don't let him cut his brain.

My 2 cents: Leo is given a choice at the end (so this isn't a critique of institution/society, his fate is his own) and his choices are both empty pain (there is no redemption nor hope, no matter the path) so this movie says "life sucks, and its your fault." While that might be overwhelming true irl, 😔.
