So yeah……I think…I’m gonna need some more alone time to fully digest and appreciate this episode…. Lots of positions…I mean, “plot” to digest… I think it demands repeat viewings. ***It’s probably unrelated, but I suddenly find the idea of being linked to 7 strangers very appealing 👀😅

I think it's fine if you want to skip openings of stuff you will watch a lot. I often do that anyways but like to watch it on certainly the last episode of something just to feel it again. My interpretation of the sex and nudity in this show in general is connected to what I feel the general ethos of the show is- love, connection and acceptance. Some of it might be unnecessary but most of it is either serving a plot point or as you put it, almost like art. With the added LGBTQ+ aspect to it all, often in TV shows gone past it was hidden as so many saw it as disgusting. I saw the scenes in episodes like this as like a "fuck you, it's beautiful" to those people. Considering the backlash the show got early on because of the lesbian scene in the first episode, we still need to progress more on that. I guess as well it maybe promotes acceptance of nudity, since a lot of Anglo culture is very uptight about it. Obviously it is erotic as well, but I've always seen most of the sex scenes in this show as having meaning beyond. Maybe that's just me though 😅. Two other interpretations I had from this episode which I don't think clicked for you was the doctor scene and the Sun/Riley scene. The doctor with the mirror to look at Sun I interpreted basically as him sexually harassing, maybe even assaulting her. I guess it is building on her being harassed a lot in Seoul since she was inappropriately talked to in an earlier episode when told "women don't close things, they open them". I also interpreted the "safer where you are going" bit with Riley and Sun, to be Riley will be physically safer away from London, and Sun will be emotionally safer in prison as she will be away from her father and brother and business, which as she put it- they don't treat her very well.

I'm not sure if you noticed Seb but Capheus was umm...readjusting himself... when they cut back to him in the van after that scene 😅 besides, that song is just a straight-up bop.

Lee David Russell

Seb feeling more edged by the lack of explanation than the orgy scenes 💀 the frustration is real 😂 the characters really do keep you hooked though, even when the show is taking its time with the plot. A lot to look forward to, I promise Seb haha 💙

I agree. I love the way this show approaches sexuality as in just normalizing intimacy between people, regardless of their sexual preference. Even fellow straight sensates don’t get too up in arms when they’re connected sexually to another of the same gender. Like you said it’s just more about the ethos of being connected to another person. The sex scenes are more erotic than the more intimate/romantic type of sex in Young Royals but that does seem like a creative choice to just prove that sex can be more than just one thing: it can be erotic, but it also can be romantic and beautiful.

Oh wait I think I just described Pathos, not Ethos. Oh well, you know what I meant 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Me looking up what Pathos is 👀. Maybe Pathos makes more sense than Ethos for what I said as well lol

Kaly

Think of it like a natural supplement to boost sex drive among other things 👀😂

Jeff Cabrera

Now now, Mark.. it does not say that on the bottle. It is an “energy” supplement 😂

Also when this first came out, it was really a big deal for Netflix to do it, which for them was great advertising. The fact this was an early netflix original meant it had to break ground a lot, for things that would not be on normal tv.

I think the sexual scenes in the show are integral to the themes that the show is designed to explore... that whether we are gay, straight, bi, trans, cis, American, German, etc. there is more interconnectivity between us than anything we imagine separating us. And that melting those boundaries and embracing one another across the world as fellow humans and welcoming one another into our hearts is the only way to a future for us all. And in the sex scene, we see those boundaries dissolving and the separation of orientation, gender, nationality, etc disappear as they conjoin in a single unit of shared passion, affection, intimacy, and human truth. Or at least that's how I receive the messaging of that.

Yeah tbh this series is one that you really should just binge watch since its so slow to begin with
