As someone who just recently (this past Christmas) got a smartwatch I'm excited to hear your thoughts.

I think the Series 1 ends up having a worse battery life, with the S2, 2 day battery life to me is guaranteed. And Apple Pay on the watch doesn't need your phone, even on non-LTE models. People usually approach the "why should I use my watch when my phone is right there", but for me it's privacy of being able to keep my phone in my bag on silent and only reach in there if I need to.
