Alright, so Arrival and The Thing (1982) got a pretty decent number of votes last month, so they'll be on this poll. Any other suggestions?

OH! And yearly subscriptions is a thing. It comes with a discount (10%, I think). Patreon told me to make a post... I figured I'd just add it to this one.

I will keep re-recommending Master & Commander: The Far Side of the Title. And I'd like to add a comedy - my favorite actually; if you haven't seen it: Clue

Jimmy, since I was so shocked that you hadn't seen "Gladiator" - I have to ask - have you at least seen "Braveheart"? 😛

Also: How about an Anime from Studio Ghibli like - Spirited Away or - Princess Mononoke

But my nr.1 favorite for now would be "Prisoners". One of my top 10 movies of the last decade. Directed by my favorite director Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, Sicario, Enemy, Dune (2020); cinematography by the best guy in the business Roger Deakins (Blade Runner 2049, Sicario, Skyfall, The shawshank redemption, 1917) and one of the best performances from Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Terrence Howard, Melissa Leo and Paul Dano (the riddler(the riddler from the new Batman movie). And probably THE best performance by Hugh Jackman. Goddamn masterpiece. Should definitely be on your list! Everything from Denis Villeneuve should be on the list. Blade Runner is even higher on my top 10 of the past decade, but I go with Prisoners for now. Especially since you enjoyed Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler so much.

I saw someone recommend Princess Mononoke and I heartily second that. It's one of those hall of fame animated movies that, if you have never seen, you're missing out. Also the dub is good, so you can watch it in english if you want.

If you're ever interested in some foreign films, El Infierno(Hell) is a great Mexican movie from 2010. Dark comedy/political satire on drug trafficking and the organized crime in Mexico. It's great.

I would say you and Cash should check out Kingdom of Heaven if you haven't seen it. Ridley Scott's film during the 2nd Crusade is very good, great battle sequence and a solid cast.

Squallboy

No one's going to vote for it, but Raw (2016, directed by Julia Ducournau)
