Yes! I'm so glad you are watching this. I've been wanting to rewatch it for a while now. The first season takes a bit to find it's legs, but it finishes incredibly strong and carries on from there.

This show fucking kills. Episodic shows have kinda fallen out of favor but Justified is still something I go back and watch. Some of the wittiest and most subtle dialogue I've ever heard, so few people give it credit.

Love seeing the Walton Goggins appreciation and understandably so after the Shield. Dude is a phenomenal actor. He was originally supposed to die in the first episode when Raylen shoots him, but test screenings showed Boyd to be such a favorite character they rewrote the show to keep him around. Was a great decision too, because while the show is great, Boyd Crowder elevates it to fantastic. I guarantee he ends up on your list somewhere. Also agreed on Raylen being more interesting/fun than Seth Bullock but when you throw Al Swearengen into the mix anybody else just seems dull. The first season has quite a few case of the week episodes but it does a lot towards setting up the long term direction for the show, similar to Person of Interest and Hannibal. The weekly cases are almost all rather good on their own merit which probably helps. So pumped for this series. Cheers!

Nerd Going Outside

So fucking here for this. Justified was made at a weird time, and though isn't quite as serialized as TV now it isn't nearly as monster-of-the-week as shows from the early 2000s and before. The episodes that ARE monster of the week usually still push the overall season plot forward a little bit or give you some new information about the characters that is relevant. The most episodic episodes of the series, and so generally considered the weakest, are the few just after the pilot in Season 1 - the overall plot hasn't really come into being yet. The one you just watched is usually thought of as one of the weakest episodes in the whole series, so if you liked it you're golden and it'll only get better.
